I went here for a nice little snack with my friend. It was super delicious. We got cupcakes!!
I am truly impressed! Rosalind (owner) is amazing! Not only did she take on the challenge of making a surprise baby shower cake to my description but she went above and beyond to make sure this cake was to last. Her communication with me was great as she would respond promptly. She'd would give you suggestions, ideas or even just plain advice as to how to make what b you want better than what you had in mind. Overall the cache was amazing ! These detail and creativity was incredible and I was just in awe! It was better than I imagined it to be. The cake was chocolate and vanilla and was not sweet which is great! Beautiful cake, excellent customer service and great tasting! Will definitely be getting my cakes from her! Thank you Rosalind! More...
Sugar Tiers is a quaint little store right off of Bayview and Major Mac (across the street from Walmart on a residential street). It used to be a heritage sight, and now they converted it to a little bakery. It's a cute little shop with a nice patio set outside. I came on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't busy. The storefront itself was small, but it smelled really good. The lady working there was friendly. The pricing is pretty standard for a bakery - they also had some specials if you buy more than one item. I decided on the strawberry cupcake. It was quite delicious. The strawberry buttercream was amazing. And the best part about the cupcake was that they had some strawberry jam filled inside of it....mmmmmmmmThe cupcake was $3.10 after tax (they accept card over $5 otherwise cash only). When I went they had a selection of cupcakes (unique flavours like green tea, black sesame, strawberry), macarons, and cookies. I'd go back to grab some baked goods! More...
We ordered a cake for my mom's 70th birthday celebration back in Jan 2019. Rosalind was very kind to fit our order in just before the Christmas holidays even though it was last minute. Her prices were fair, and she was extra accommodating for my weird cake design and taste: I wanted both lychee and mango flavors layered in the cake. I appreciated Rosalind's honesty when she told me she never tried to combine flavors before and was not sure how it would taste. Despite this, she had no problems giving it a try and it tasted great!I especially liked how the cake looked. I had only briefly explained the concept to her with clips of various pictures as a reference and it turned out exactly as envisioned! She applied her judgement in the right places without losing the original concept and the cake looked amazing. Thank you Rosalind for getting this cake done so well, it is not easy trying to meet all my weird demands! More...
I visited their new location, and it is quite small but very cute and nice atmosphere. Their cupcakes are amazing - the buttercream is light and creamy, the filling is delicious, and best of all, it is not overly sweet. My personal favourites (so far!) are the creme brule (a must try) and taro cupcake, though all of them are really tasty. The packaging is also really cute and the woman is extremely friendly. The prices are also reasonable and everything is freshly baked. They also offer a huge variety of macarons! I highly recommend you to visit this new location, I go whenever I want to treat myself! Great cake decorating class for a very beginner level.
Rosalind is truly a maestro in the pastry world!
Very talented bakery, yummy desserts and excellent classes! Great sharing of knowledge and very friendly warm environment during classes.
Great place for classes n not forgetting their cupcakes are simply delicious
I took a class here with a friend and really enjoyed myself! It was very hands on, and the instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful.
The class was phenomenal and Rosalind was also phenomenal. Her expertise and teaching abilities helped me to create a gorgeous cake. I am able to replicate what I learned at home. What a wonderful experience. More...
A small quaint place and very unique hi-tea pieces. Nice place.
The place is adorable! The tea was a super mix of English staples and a few Asian twists. Loved it! The staff could be a little more attentive...just an observation.
We ordered a cupcake tier for our wedding with a cake topper and it was beautiful and delicious!!!! Everyone loved the cupcakes especially the pandan coconut, green tea and sesame flavour. Our topper is red velvet and it was absolutely delicious!!! Thank you so much!!! More...
We ordered cupcakes for our wedding and a cake topper and the guests loved it! We order green tea, black sesame, oreo, apple caramel, taro, and black forest. A beautiful small space with intricate desserts! By far the best chocolate butter pastry I have ever had with a LARGE portion of chocolate in it unlike other places. Their macarons were DEVINE with many flavours to choose from. Cupcake galore, a large size cupcake for portion of the cost! Definitely recommend this place to everyone on the east end! More...
Rosalind did an amazing job on my wife's birthday cake! After giving her a couple of my wife's interests she read my mind and the end result exceeded my expectations. Half of our guests didn't believe it was a cake as the detail was a work of art. Not to mention that all three flavors (red velvet, chocolate and vanilla) were very tasty! More...
Rosalind and her team did an amazing job on the deserts for our wedding. They were able to make the custom cake I requested as well as provide us with many different options for our sweets table. Everything looked incredible and tasted delicious. Rosalind was also super kind and very easy to work with. I showed her examples of the design ideas I had and she put her creativity to work. Very glad I chose them! More...

Cake pops are good. You cannot choose the flavours so sometimes they are hit or miss. The fruit flavoured ones are usually very artificial tasting. That's the only con. Never an issue when using Groupon for orders. More...
Nice cosy place with very affordable high tea!!
The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, and the place was clean and bright. The prices are fair for the quality and amount of food you get! As far as High Tea places go, it is not the best, but the price and quality makes up for it! More...
Election selection of various handmade desserts, ranging from cake pops to macarons, and personalized cakes. Having purchased a Groupon for afternoon tea, Sugar Tiers by far offers one of the best, contemporary tea experiences. However, the tea selection itself consists of standard tea bags that are far from unique, but rather could have come from any supermarket nearby. Beyond the limited tea selection, the selection of sweets is very good, with each piece being unique in its own flavors. All the desserts are handmade and are all at a level of excellent quality. The savory selection consists of unique meat pies and quiche. More...
Came here spontaneously to buy cupcakes right when the store opened. Had to wait a bit because they were still frosting the cupcakes but I didn't mind since I came pretty early and it would mean fresh cupcakes. Got a dozen assorted flavours. Must say these are some of the best cupcakes I've had. The cake itself is very moist and tasty. The frosting (I think a buttercream type frosting?) is really light and not too sweet. The cupcake overall didn't feel heavy when I ate it like some of the other one I've tried. I like their assortment of flavours - my favourite was the pandan coconut - really fresh and tasted like real coconut. The people who helped me were very friendly, I would definitely come back again! Really great sweets. They make some complex desserts with. Also it's very inexpensive.
Nice environment. Too bad there's no coffee. Only tea available; however, it was a good selection
I got the Macarons and they were very good. Tasted fresh, honestly the best ones I've ever had in a while.
Their macaroons are excellent and not overly sweet
Out of this world creations from a little bakery. Very talented bakery, yummy desserts and excellent classes! Great sharing of knowledge and very friendly warm environment during classes.
Cake pops were good. Price is great when you order from groupon.
Went here for the high tea for two. No need for the groupon to get the $45 price. Unless you can get a discount on groupon, then you can just call in and pay over the phone. The high tea choices were actually pretty decent. I loved the quiche, the scone, and most of the sweets. Sure the tea comes from costco and the supermarket, but the desserts more than make up for it. The actual food items were decent except perhaps the rice in a cone one. I liked it but only because I love rice. I suggest you replace that with ANYTHING.If you check out the pictures, you know exactly what you are getting here. Go in with that and you wont be disappointed. 3.5-4 stars. More...
Stopped by the plaza today and intended on getting a scoop of Marble Slab, but saw this place opened so I dropped in. Luckily, there was one last taro cupcake so I bought it because, let's face it, where else can you find a taro cupcake? Now, just to be clear, I'm a cupcake fanatic. I've indulged in these sweet creations everywhere I go. I ate it in the car and damn, it was one of the BEST cupcakes I've ever had. A heavenly combination of moist delicious cake, combined with the perfectly balanced buttercream that was just the perfect amount. My taste buds were literally jumping for joy. The best part: in the centre of the cake, there was a lump of sweet real taro. Only a master baker can create such a beautiful, yet delicately tasting cake and then I read about the bakers and of course, they are masters of their craft. I will definitely be returning to this cute little bakery. When you buy a baked good from this place, know that it has been made by a Parisian trained Master and just relish in it's tastiness and art. This is a fine bakery and I don't know about anyone else, but I really liked the service here. Both ladies were so sweet and patient with me. More...
It was my first time having high tea in this cute shop. Would definitely recommend it for high tea first timers. I got a Groupon deal for it and it was definitely worth it! The tea selection wasn't as big and is from tea bags but still pretty good considering their main focus are cakes. The service was friendly and the environment was very relaxing and smelled of icing and cookies! The food was beyond my expectation for high tea. It had wide range of flavours from spicy, to sweet, to sour, and to salty. Very interesting and delicately picked menu. If not high tea, I would recommend trying their cupcakes as well! If you love sweets, you won't be disappointed :) More...
Got the Groupon for high tea and it was delicious! It was fun to just hang out with the girlfriend and eat delicious snacks $45 for twoCheck out the pics to see what's good! The tea was just bagged tea... was hoping for steeped so that was a bit of a disapoointment. Great staff and quick service. I recommend trying the high tea! More...
Tried the groupon for cake decorating class. Class was about 12 people, teacher went through all the steps and made sure each student was able to complete the step before moving on. Cake turned out amazing (see pictures). Other than the class, I've tried their macaroons which were pretty good with tons of different flavours to choose from. More...
Great cupcakes. Love the black sesame the most.
TL;DR: Yummy, fresh, and soft cupcakes, even after 1-2 days (airtight, not refrigerated).I came across this bakery when I was in the Richmond Hill area, and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that they have some Groupon deals. I decided to get the 24 mini cupcakes deal for $20 (apparently original is $44 which is expensive). I got a dozen red velvet and a dozen chocolate mini cupcakes.Glad I was able to get a deal on Groupon. As per rules on the deal, I had to provide at least 72 hours notice. I needed to pick up on a Tuesday so I called them Saturday. They were polite on the phone and they made sure they got my order right by summarizing before the call concluded. When I picked up the cupcakes on Tuesday and entered the bakery, I was overcome by the smell of baked goods that made me excited to pick up my cupcakes! The lady on the counter had a friendly smile. The cupcakes were actually for a potluck for lunch the next day (Wednesday), and I made sure to keep the cupcakes covered overnight. Cupcakes were in perfect and fresh condition the next day, and tasted great!! The cream was soo delicious and the cupcakes were soft and tasty!! Needless to say the cupcakes were enjoyed and loved by my coworkers as there was almost nothing left after the event!I am glad I purchased cupcakes from Sugar Tiers. I will keep an eye out for more deals from this store in the future, as their regular prices are pretty expensive.Review 26 of 100 More...
I usually go here for cupcakes - they have all kinds of Asian inspired flavours like Taro and Green Tea. Sometimes, like the comments below mention, the cake is dry but the icing and the fillings always save them. Yum!We got a cake here for my mom's 60th birthday - it was amazing. We had a red velvet layer and a mango cake layer. There was no cake left by the end. We had it decorated with a hawaiian theme - they even piped a gorgeous hibiscus flower on the top (my mom's favourite flower). I would highly recommend this bakery! More...
Sugar Tiers is a fabulous store for cake decorating supplies. The prices are excellent as is the service. I love Sugar Tiers!
I can't speak for their macarons - actually, they don't look very good - but their cupcakes are some of the best in the city. They're made with a more Asian flair; consequently, they are not as cloyingly sweet as 97% of the cupcakes from other GTA bakeries. Their cupcakes are also all super moist and fluffy, and the frostings are just right - light and fluffy and, as I've mentioned, not too sweet.Their taro cupcake is probably my favourite cupcake in the city. I could do without the mashed taro filling, but the flavour is wonderful. It's very taro-y, fragrant, and has a very creamy sort of taste. It's also a lovely pale purple colour.Their raspberry chocolate is my second favourite. It's rich and cocoa-y but still just sweet enough, and it's filled with raspberry jam. They sometimes top it with raspberry buttercream and sometimes with ganache. It looks prettier with the pink buttercream but honestly, the ganache tastes better.Their green tea is so-so because they use flavouring instead of only matcha powder (understandable because good matcha is super expensive). There's also a red bean filling - not my jam, but I know a lot of people like it.The sesame cupcake is nice! Strong sesame flavour and it's quite good, especially with the sweet sesame filling. However, sometimes the sesame bits get stuck in my throat and make me cough - so I'd recommend keeping plenty of water on hand when eating this one.The orange/earl grey cupcake was nice. Too orangey and not as bergamot-y - I'd prefer if it tasted more like the tea and less like oranges. But it's tasty.Totally worth the trip for their cupcakes! More...
I got the Groupon for a dozen macaroons. I phoned in, and was ready to be picked up in 3 days. Once I arrived I was greeted with a smile. Showed them my Groupon and i was on my way! Once I tried the macaroons, they were heavenly!! Best macaroons I had!! The outside was firm enough to hold, but once you bit into it, it was soft, crumbly and flavourful! The cream inside was also to die for, staying true to the flavours they were meant to be! I plan on trying this place again.... Since there seems to be alot of negative reviews. More...
Consider that I live so far north, there aren't too many options here. But this bakery has descent cup cakes and macaroons. I will drop by from time to time to get a cup cake. Their cup cake is freshly made everyday. I also tried their macaroons and love the great selection of flavors they provided @ the store. Will come back for more sweets! More...
I purchased a Groupon coupon for 2 dozen cakepops a couple of months ago, otherwise I would have never traveled all the way out to Markham. The cake pops were AMAZING.Melt in your mouth heaven. I tried to make them a few times, all of which were giant failures, so I have a special appreciation for these little balls of yummy. My 2 dozen, preordred cake pops included chocolate, red velvet and vanilla. I actually loved them all. The outside layer were dipped in vanilla or chocolate, with a variety of cute decorations on top including little pink & red hearts, little confetti sprinkles. 5/5While I was there, I got lured in by the cupcakes. YUM.They were all cleanly decorated with icing. I got 6 cupcakes for $13. The price was very reasonable. I picked out chocolate, mango - I think this is my fav. The cupcake itself was super moist, and had a light flavor of mango through it. YUM YUM YUM! Green Tea - **haven't tried yet. vanilla - Classic vanilla taste, light and fluffy cupcake. and Taro -- I'd never heard of taro before, and girl who worked told me it was a popular flavor in the Asian culture and compared it to the taste of a yam/sweet potato? I haven't tried it yet ... The icing is light purple. The icing on all of the cupcakes was very light, and not terribly sweet. Very creamy, and slighty oily on the tongue. One of the best icings I've ever had. These cupcakes exceeded my expectations. And I'd probably drive to Markham again to get them. That says a lot! ;) More...
Best place to get desserts from! I love getting their cake pops! :)amazing flavors.Service is amazing! I always get treated well and I will continue going back there :)Thanks ladies xoxo
I had cupcakes from Sugar Tiers at a bday party recently and they were really good! Presentation wasn't over the top, but each cupcake was decorated with a bit of something to hint of what flavour cupcake you were getting. At first bite, I really enjoyed the smooth buttercream frosting and how there wasn't any gritty sugar feeling like I've tasted with other cupcakes. I had the black sesame and had bites of the cappuccino and mango ones. I really liked that they weren't overly sweet.... I usually find myself not wanting to eat the last bites of a cupcake but I finished this off all myself! More...
