The team at Stylus S.E. LLC was great to us (specifically Jenni, Jason, and Eric) and I will always speak highly of them. Stylus has GREAT people relations . Jenni was easy to ask questions (which I had many since I was a DIY bride). Jenni really helped set the mood, not because of my overwhelming information, but because she's been doing this for years. We ended up having a huge dance party (which is what I wanted) and we all had a blast! We had classic 90s, line dances, we also had beach music, and of course some John Williams (part of our theme.) Stylus was recommended to us by our planner (specifically, she said if you like to have fun and you have a dancing crowd, Stylus is one of the best), and the Stylus team did an AWESOME job. Leading up to the wedding, Jason (Stylus owner) was extremely prompt, responsive, and helpful. When I first spoke with him, he spent 45 minutes on the phone with me discussing their work and my fiance and I’s vision for our wedding. And he definitely had better things to be doing (Stylus is killing it). He will talk with you to get your style/taste in music so he can recommend the appropriate DJ. Stylus also has a bunch of planning tools on their website that are super helpful, such as recommended songs for the DJ to play (as well as songs you don’t want played), reception music planner and ceremony music planner. It makes things really easy.

On the day of the wedding, the DJ was the highlight of the reception. He took requests, chatted with guests (and us!) and was great on the mic! He also just looked like he was having an awesome time, which made it really fun. After the wedding, we constantly heard about how great the DJ was. He had everybody dancing and played just the music we were looking for.

I can’t recommend Stylus enough!! You’d be amiss not to retain them for your wedding or any other special event, for that matter! More...

The best thing we ever did was hire Stylus SE. They were there for us every step of the way, from our trip on the Wedding Wagon all the way up to our wedding day yesterday. Jason Huggins' knowledge and understanding of the wedding trade is incalculable. He is hilarious, and is one of the most personable guys I've ever met. On top of that, he is very organized, adaptable, arrives prepared for everything, and goes way above and beyond any expectations when he is hired to MC/DJ/Narrate a wedding. His insane narrative crafting ability and crowd control techniques, combined with his recommendations for photography (Dave Severance of Severance Productions) and coordination (Erin McCauly of Chestnut & Vine) created a megazord of joyous festivity that absolutely knocked our wedding out of the park and blew all of our guests away. Nobody was ready for what they got when our big day came yesterday. Everyone left impressed, happy, and smiling - with nothing but amazing things to say about him and his work. I honestly wish that I could rate Stylus higher than 5 stars. These guys and gals are called the best in the business for a reason. They will not disappoint you, I promise. Jenni was amazing! I couldn't have asked for a better wedding Dj or emcee. She was so full of energy and kept the party going. She was able to feel the energy of the room to select what songs should be played next. Working wish Jenni and Stylus as a whole was such a breeze. It made the whole process easy and stress free. The online playlist planner made it so easy to add the songs that we wanted to play but also allowed us to note certain songs that were requested by our guests which were sent back in our RSVP's. Being able to put that note in that there were requested songs ensured that our guests heard "their" songs and Jenni made sure to play those first along with our favorites. Meeting with Jenni was wonderful too. She is so down to earth and very cool and go with the flow. She has an idea of what would look best regarding lighting and what would sound best regarding announcements and flow of the evening. My fiance and I chose Stylus because we love hearing him at Cornerstone, Downtown Raleigh. He has an amazing personality and was consistent in making sure he knew exactly what we wanted. On the wedding day, I noticed a monogram lit up on the dance floor that I did not authorize, I had made an extensive list of songs using his online program and only heard about 1/4 of them and his MC skills were spotty. The entrance into the reception wasn't ideal and my parents last name was mispronounced and some of my bridal party was introduced with jokes while others werent. BOOK JASON before his schedule fills up! Even a month later when reflecting on the wedding, all of my friends STILL talk about how awesome the music was. It is all thanks to Jason. He listened to me when I said I didn't want too many "songs with dances" and that I wanted it to feel more like a club where the music just winds into the next song. He is GOOD at what he does! I have worked weddings and events (as another vendor) with Stylus DJs Eric (Animal), Jason, Jenni and Joseph (Proto) and I finally had the opportunity to hire them for my wedding. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Jason and his ability to make my wedding reception and ceremony better than I could have dreamed of. Jason was our DJ at my 30th bday and he was so amazing that my fiance and I booked him for our wedding next year! He honestly just knows how to fit into any crowd. Jason had an amazing song selection, he worked the crowd (at an appropriate level), and everyone just had a ton of fun. I can't tell you how many compliments I received after the party on my DJ! When I signed my contract with him for our wedding, he had me go to the website and showed me how to register and how to use the website. The online portal that Stylus uses for you to submit your wedding timeline, must-play music choices, ceremony music etc. is very professional and extremely helpful! From start to finish Jason was very prompt with correspondence and genuinely cared about what we wanted. Day of, Jason had everyone laughing, dancing and having a great time. Our dance floor was packed the entire night. Everyone still talks about how amazing of a DJ Jason was. Jason was our DJ at our Star Wars wedding!! I love how flexible he was through the entire night and event, if the crowd needed raised he raised if we needed to relax he brought it down, if people were walking away or looking bored he’d bring us together with something new! My husband and I aren’t dancers and didn’t plan on being on the floor he kept us there for 3 of the best hours of my life! I would highly recommend Jason or the team, for both DJ and the photo booth! We had Jason Huggins as our DJ and wow. He was definitely the MVP of our wedding day. Without him, our wedding would have been regular shmegular. This guy is incredibly talented, exceeding our expectations. He was mixing our Arabic and English music playlist so well! Have you ever heard a rap beat sampled on an Arabic music track? Cause I hadn't until my wedding day. It was absolutely incredible how well he was able to sift through our extensive playlist, while paying attention to who was on the dance floor. Not to mention his flexibility, which had came in to save the day THE NIGHT BEFORE OUR WEDDING! (which was when he received the full playlist).... (blame it on Arab Timing?) Jason Huggins made all of our wedding dreams come true. Im serious. This man's service to us was worth every penny. Joseph (DJ Proto J) went above and beyond what is expected of a DJ and I cannot thank him enough. He was one of the best decisions for our wedding. We were lucky to have Joseph step in last minute for us, and he was a huge reason why we had an amazing wedding day. I obsessed over the little details and Joseph had no problem literally spending hours going through my 14-page timeline, line-by-line, and making suggestions -- all of which made the overall flow of our wedding day so much better. He not only asked for songs we wanted and did not want played at our wedding but he asked when we graduated so he knew the types of songs we and our friends grew up listening to. He went so far as to suggest to play some Asian songs for our families during cocktail hour and dinner and read our tea ceremony script, which our families really appreciated it as it made our wedding even more personal. He is not the type of DJ who will try to steal the show but what's important to him is that you and your guests are happy and enjoying yourselves. The only "complaint" we received from our wedding was that our guests didn't want the party to end! Even our venue owner was fascinated with Joseph, a "real DJ," and they have already referred him to another client. Considering how many DJs have played at their venue, this is saying a lot.

As our wedding party speeches concluded, Joseph gave a few words on how he has truly enjoyed working with us. I have never been to a wedding where a DJ genuinely cares that much about the bride and groom to say the kind words he gave that night. A DJ is really what sets the mood at your reception and Joseph did a phenomenal job. He is so talented, knowledgeable, and will do everything he can to make sure your wedding day is perfect. You cannot go wrong with Stylus and I highly recommend asking for Joseph. Whether you are picky or just aren't sure what exactly you're looking for, Joseph will work with you and make sure you have the best night ever! More...

I've been to my fair share of weddings, large small, quaint, party you name it. Jason leaves all other DJs in the dust. Above and beyond would be an understatement. After my wedding I really don't think it's fair to even call Jason just a DJ. I describe Jason as a Master of Ceremonies! Any talented DJ can get behind a desk and hit play on a perfectly crafted playlist. It takes the creme of the crop to not only gauge the crowd and what their needs are but involve them as well. He's not silent he's out in the open making people laugh helping your entire party have the time of your lives. Now for the reader here are the concrete things Jason does well.
1. Incredibly calming pre-event consultation sessions. Jason not only helps you with your music he helps you with things you didn't even know you needed. Is anybody else going to suggest hey maybe you should practice how you're going to kiss
2. Equipment- get his top package, it's worth it. When we walked in to our event space I felt like I was about to experience a Grammys afterparty. Everything is so professional and looks and sounds outstanding.
3. Environment creation- Your guests are going to remember the Food and the music from your wedding (I'm sure you've heard this) When Jason DJs he doesn't just play music, he creates an atmosphere that makes your guests want to be a part of. (Do the anniversary dance) he interacts with your guests to make them feel like their all VIPs.

Jason has ruined weddings for me because after you go to a Stylus wedding, you start comparing all other DJs to them and they don't measure up. If you want the wedding/event that people are still going to be talking about a year from now, your search is over. More...

I just have to say that Eric “Animal” Mills was HANDS DOWN the best DJ I have ever listened to. He was the first DJ I have ever had the experience of working with, and I will say with 100% guarantee that I would never use anyone else! He was always quick to respond to emails and questions. He was so helpful to us when we didn’t know what we should do or songs we should play for our daughter’s wedding (the first wedding we have ever planned).....he had so many great suggestions and helpful advice. He was so wonderful during this whole process. And when it came down to the day of.....he was absolutely awesome! He had our crowd laughing and really had them engaged. When my mom reached out to Jason at the very beginning of our planning phase, we knew Stylus DJs would be a fabulous company with which to work. We want to thank Jenni and Jason for the initial meeting I had with them: going over the flow of our event, giving advice about choosing songs/activities throughout the evening, and setting us up for successful playlist planning. The online planners were a great help, streamlining everything and keeping my husband and I on the same page with our DJ, Jenni, up until the evening of our wedding.

Jenni sourced a few obscure songs we requested for the processional and the Mother-Son dance. She took our requests to build cocktail and dinner playlists that included the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Eagles, Tom Petty, and String Cheese Incident; but she also brought in some more classic wedding sounds like Frank Sinatra and the like. She did a great job emceeing our event and kept the dance floor going strong all night long with great dance music from Earth, Wind, & Fire and Prince to Travis Porter and Chris Brown. We, and our guests, truly had a blast!

Jason is AWESOME!!! We used Jason for both our ceremony and our reception and he was on point with all of the music selections. He listened to what we wanted and made it absolutely perfect. Not only is he professional but he is down to earth and fun and makes the whole process easy. Jason has DJ’d all our kids’ special events for years and is incredible. Such a great read of the crowd and a fun, interactive presence at any event. When we were planning my daughter’s sweet 16, we were disappointed Jason was otherwise engaged but so pleased with his recommendation of Eric. Eric was amazing and fun and everything my daughter wanted for her special party. The photo booth was super cool and the attendant (sorry, I can’t remember his name!!) was great and quite a dancer! Eric was great and really guided us through the music selection process for our wedding. We were pretty clueless when it came to picking songs for our entire event (outside of our favorite dance songs! ) and his recommendations of Vitamin String Quartet and Post Modern Jukebox really helped make the day great, so much so that we had others ask to use them.

Our only complaints would be that our mikes were a bit staticky in our outside venue due to wind and a couple of our favorite songs did not get played until very late in the night after a reminder, but those are really small nitpicks. I'd recommend Eric and Stylus to anyone in the NC area who needed kick-ass wedding DJs! More...

About 6 months ago, I started learning how to DJ from Eric Mills, and I have been very pleased with the results. Eric has decades of experience teaching AND DJing in multiple cities around the US. He is also active in the Raleigh wedding and club scene, keeping his frame of reference current to today's trends and what keeps a crowd moving.

Eric advised me on exactly what to buy as a beginner to have industry standard equipment that will grow with me as I learn and start playing venues. He taught me how to DJ from the ground up, starting with structures of songs and music in general, all the way to the most complex functionality of my DJ Controller. I am now at an intermediate level on the most basic DJ skills, and starting to refine more complex techniques. Eric continues to provide expert critiques for my mixes during our sessions and I learn new things every time we work together.

On top of everything above, Eric has a very easygoing personality, and has been very flexible with my schedule. This has been critical for me, as I have a 9-5 job.

I would recommend Eric without hesitation to anyone who wants to learn how to get started DJing. A student does not need to have a music degree, Stylus can teach you everything you need to know, and it is coming from someone who plays clubs and weddings every week. More...
