We were so happy to work with Studio MMB's Monica and Manning. They work so well with each other, and have really great eyes for what works for you and your style - it's a completely personalized experience. As two brides, we have to have looks that are on par with each other, yet reflect our personalities and personal styles. They consulted with each other, asked us a lot of questions, and we really feel like each stylist got to know each of us personally, and absolutely delivered! Studio MM&B is fantastic and if you're looking for hair +makeup for your wedding day, this is who to go with! What I really appreciated was that from the start to finish, their team communicated with me thoroughly and they always went above and beyond. It gave me comfort knowing that during the crazy wedding planning time  I could trust Studio MM&B with my hair & makeup. Karen did my makeup and hair, and I don't even know where to start to describe how amazing she is. I don't wear much makeup so it was important to me that I still looked like me on my wedding day, and it was super helpful to have my trial. It takes me quite a while to write a review because I really want to have time to sit down and write a review for Studio mm&b. My wedding was in October 2018 and Manning was my make up artist. I'm working in the beauty industry for many years and I'm one of those beauty addictions, so I'm really picky about choosing a makeup artist for my big day. I asked my friend who has a very nice makeup on her wedding because I really like a glam natural look, and she recommended Manning from Studio mm&b. Studio mm&b team works professionally and Manning was so nice and she did my hair and makeup the way I want it to be. Studio mm&b was such a great option for hair + makeup for my big day! Especially for those with Asian faces - I highly recommend! I was a bit behind in getting hair + makeup booked and wanted to schedule my trial on the same day as our engagement photo shoot. Studio mm&b were so great about finding me someone and making sure they understood what I was looking for and my overall style before the actual session.They were very flexible with my contract because I was unclear about the space where we would get our hair + makeup done on the big day, and were very responsive when I had the final details ready to share.They were so accommodating on the day of, and they were even nice enough to book someone for my mom who spoke Korean so that she would be as comfortable as possible. I cannot say enough good things about Studio mm&b and Quendie! Studio mm&b was recommended to me by a coworker who had recently gotten married. My wedding was in November 2018 and I had booked a trial appointment in February 2018. I know, early. But I'm a planner and I figured, better to get this done sooner rather than later. Their studio is located in Pasadena so it was really convenient for me since I live and work in the area. I got to meet Manning and Monica who are absolutely the sweetest duo you could ever meet. Quendie, who they had paired me with based on my makeup preferences, was amazing. We got along real quickly and she understood what "look" I was going for so easily. After this trial, I had no doubt that I was going to look my best on my wedding day.Fast forward to November, Quendie acted like it was yesterday she did my hair and makeup trial rather than eight months prior. She was super prepared with all the photos that we took during the trial. I'm not just writing this review to add to their already perfect rating. They have such amazing reviews because Studio mm&b really does an amazing job. It's not just that all of their artists paint every gal's faces beautifully, but also that they are all genuine, kind, and professional! It is really about the whole experience and not just the final product. Even the booking process was great. Pam was so responsive and quick to provide feedback with questions and next steps. Everything from start to finish was smooth and simple. Which is so important for a bride amongst all of the other things going on for a wedding.Karen was my main lady, and I'm sure I did not make it easy for her, but she did a beyond amazing job. Talked me through the changes I was requesting and asked me questions to make sure I was comfortable with the look. I was really happy with the final product. I changed my mind from what we did at the trail a couple weeks (or maybe a week heh) before the wedding and Karen was so accommodating and calm to talk me through the changes to make sure I was comfortable with everything. Monica did such an amazing job on my hair and make up. She really takes her time and pays attention to all the small details. For example, she put together different layers of eyelashes before determining which one would be the best for my eye shape and the look I was going for.All of my bridesmaids were also very happy with their hair and make up as Studio mm&b inquired about the look and style they wanted prior to the wedding day.My hair and make up lasted all night and I had so many compliments from our guests! Manning was very nice to work with - sweet and professional. I hired her to do my hair and makeup for my engagement photos and wedding. I went for a more natural look on my engagement shoot. On my wedding day, I requested a more glam look. Unfortunately due to some issues with the hotel front desk, we lost an hour of hair and makeup time. Even with the lost time, I was pretty pleased with my hair and makeup! Manning gave me a small touch up kit, which was very nice. The only thing that I wish lasted longer was my lipstick and hair. I'm so glad I chose Manning and her team for my wedding at Casa Del Mar!! I have nothing but positive reviews for this makeup studio! Let's start with the inquiry process, they were fast in response. Monica is friendly, professional and prompt in responding to any questions and concerns. After looking at their works from Instagram and website, I decided to book with Manning! Manning is so talented and BEAUTIFUL!!! She was super pleasant to work with and meticulous with everything she did. Before my trial, I was texting with Manning and I sent her some photos of the makeup style I like, she is very professional and knows exactly what I want and was able to achieve the look during the trial. Most importantly, she was able to figure out exactly what would look best for me while incorporating my own ideas. After the trial, I knew makeup is the last thing I need to worry about on my wedding day. Hair and makeup is something I splurged on for my wedding. For me, this is the most important aspect of my wedding. A good makeup just makes everything perfect. On my big day, Manning, Karen and Summer Rose were punctual. Karen did makeup for three of my bridesmaids and two moms. Summer Rose did hair for them. My bridesmaids and my mom are not the easiest people to please but all were extremely satisfied with their work. My maid of Honor took over 100 selfies and describe her makeup as "MAKEUP THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE FILTER." I showed Manning some hair styles my bridesmaid sent me during trial and she gave some suggestion which made the whole process a lot faster on the day. I hired Manning for hair and makeup for my wedding, and she did such a fantastic job. I had not slept well in a long time because I was in the middle of a lengthy work project, and Manning erased those baggy undereyes like magic. Beforehand, she was very careful to ask about what I wanted and what concerns I had--it was a very personalized service. My wedding was complicated because I had two ceremonies, and needed my hair down for one and up for the other. This review is for Monica who was  absolutely a pleasure to work with. Everyone complimented my hair and makeup and how natural but beautiful I looked. Monica really took the extra time to study my photographer's work and she even went above and beyond to make the look even better than the look she went for during the trial. The eyelashes popped but still felt natural while the blush and highlight were subtle yet noticeable in the photos. I was nervous about getting my hair and makeup done for our wedding and for our bridal party, as I don't wear makeup daily and had never had it done professionally. Studio MM+B came highly recommended by our wedding planner, who remarked that even the pickiest brides were never disappointed with their work! Manning did my hair/makeup for my engagement photo session, trial, and  wedding! While she is absolutely talented and artistic, it was her kindness and patience that really made the experience so positive! I'm incredibly shy and self-conscious and had difficulty expressing how I wanted to look, but she was so reassuring and made sure that I was happy with how I looked! As she tried to read my mind, we made adjustments from the engagement session and trial to the wedding day, including her advice on how to take care of my skin and have my hair cut with some more layers. She completely nailed it, and everything came out perfect! I looked like myself, but more beautiful and fresh than I had ever looked (which is exactly what I wanted!), and it lasted all throughout the night! This review is a half a year late, but I wanted to give Karen a shout out. Karen was originally recommended by my cousin, Lindsey T. She had nothing but praise for Karen and Studio mm&b, so I made a trial appointment early on (January, wedding in August). I was a bit wary of booking so early, but knew that it would only get more hectic as time went on with the planning. Karen asked about my makeup preferences, tried a few different looks for hair and face and I ended up loving my look and booking them for my wedding day.I had planned a luncheon wedding, so this meant a very early prep time. Karen showed up at 5:30am with coffee in hand and made me look amazing. What an amazing team lead by Monica and Manning!! Monica was so attentive and had great follow up to all my inquiries. She even helped me solve a last minute booking crisis in the middle of the night! I was so grateful with how understanding she was and her willingness to help. What a true #girlboss! I hired Studio mm&b to do bridal hair and makeup for me, as well as hair and makeup for my bridal party and the moms. I knew I was going to hire them when I was a bridesmaid in one of my best friends' weddings because I thought they did an amazing job and were so professional . They run a tight ship and know what they are doing. I was fortunate enough to have both Monica and Manning come the day of and it was so fun! It was like having girlfriends who are professionals at their craft all together in one room. When I got engaged I began looking for makeup and hair services almost immediately. Upon my wedding planner's recommendation, I checked out Studio MM&B and fell in love. The makeup looks are so fresh and absolutely beautiful, the epitome of a blushing bride. I booked immediately, and had my trial with Quendie. She was so sweet and listened to my vision and gave me exactly what I was looking for! I had two very big concerns. My skin and hair. My skin is ALWAYS oily, no matter what I do and my hair is frizzy,curly, and unruly. But low and behold, Quendie worked her magic on me and I was awestruck...my skin was matte, my hair smooth and sleek. My look was INCREDIBLE and my now husband, was floored when he saw me walking down the aisle. My skin and hair held up all night, and I didn't even have to blot or worry about my hair getting frizzy. I don't even know where to start to describe how amazing Monica and the whole Studio mm&b team are. They have a spectacular team that is super detail-oriented, personable, and TALENTED. From the start, their team communicated with me very thoroughly. Even before the trial, they sent me a detailed questionnaire to find out about me and the type of make/hair style that I like. Monica did my hair and makeup for the engagement shoot and for my wedding. She has a very good eye for what would look good on you and I fully trusted her to work her magic. Monica did my hair and makeup for my wedding recently and I loved the experience!  I found Studio MM&B online and I thought they did natural-looking makeup very well, which is what I wanted.  When I had my trial with Monica, I loved the makeup she did on me, but after looking at my trial pictures some more over the next few days, I didn't really like the hair style I chose anymore.  I thought it made me look overly mature.  Monica did mention during the trial that the style I chose would have that effect,  but I kind of didn't listen, so my fault haha.  She did do exactly what I asked her to do, which I don't think all makeup artists or hair stylists do.Not living in LA, I emailed her a picture of a new updo style, explaining I wanted something more youthful looking, and I just hoped for the best for the actual wedding day since I wouldn't be able to see the hair style on me until then.  Monica was super responsive by email, and so I felt ok about it though still a little nervous.  The day of the wedding, Monica made my hair look absolutely AMAZING.  I am not exaggerating when I say it was perfect and exactly what I wanted.  Super flattering with the right amount of volume and youthfulness.  She really delivered.   And my makeup was amazing too - flattering and enhancing for photography, but still very natural looking and lovely in real life.  I'm not a fan of false lashes, but the false lashes she put on me looked so natural that they just looked like a part of my eyes, as if I have naturally lush lashes, but I don't in real life!  I looked like me but better!  Even my mom, who has serious reservations about wearing makeup in general, kept gushing over my hair and makeup that day.  She is not one to sugar coat things, even with the bride.  She tells you exactly what she thinks haha.We also had Karen do hair and makeup for my bridesmaids, and she also did a fantastic job.  My bridesmaids looked beautiful and classic with very natural makeup as well and lovely hair.  She managed to do totally different hairstyles for them, and I was really impressed with them.You can really tell they take a lot of care with their art, and they're also super nice, calm and professional.   These are the people you want working on you right before you get married or have a major event.  They are magical! Okay first of all as a bride living in NYC planning an LA wedding, I really didn't have that many chances to do wedding hair/makeup trials.  I consider myself SO incredibly fortunate to have come across studio mm&b during this stressful time. My first trial was with another really well known stylist that my sister had also used for her own wedding (although admitted later she was not happy with their service).  I did my first trial with that other stylist and I didn't really know what to expect, but I did know that that stylist did not listen to me at all. I kept saying that I didn't feel like myself and I would prefer my hair a different way etc. and she kept saying oh you'll thank me later, what I'm doing for you will look way better in pictures etc.  I didn't really know better so I figured I'd probably just book her and get it over with. I did a bit more yelping and after looking at the reviews and photos for mm&b decided to splurge on another trial with them just to see and OMG the difference was insane.  Monica listened to everything I said and at the end of my trial I almost cried because I had no idea that the look she created was really exactly what I wanted.  I chose a hairstyle that she doesn't do very often but she went with it and I loved it.It gives a bride a lot of anxiety to only do ONE trial with someone then see them 8 months later and expect them to recreate that perfect look for you again. It takes a lot of trust - not only in the skills of the person you hired but also in the person themselves and how much you think they care about your needs and anxieties. I have to say that I felt completely at ease with Monica. I knew she would recreate the look for me and she even had thought about the look a lot beforehand and made some subtle changes to make everything even more amazing. STUDIO MM&B IS AMAZING! Manning did my hair and make-up while other wonderful members of the Studio MM&B team did the hair and make-up for my bridesmaids. I couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. Manning made me look like the most beautiful version of myself and we had such a fun time getting ready too!I was really impressed with the care and attention that Manning provided. When I did my hair and makeup trial, Manning put together a faux updo look. The day of the wedding, however, my mother was adamant that she wanted a more romantic, lose curls look. Without hesitation or batting an eye, Manning was able to pull it off and my hair turned out looking fabulous. Manning and Karen ARE THE BEST. I am extremely picky and particular about my makeup and hair. I had a specific vision of how I wanted to look and feel on my wedding day. Studio mm&b was the very first vendor we booked while planning our wedding, prior to even having our venue booked! That is how serious I was about finding the perfect hair and makeup team. The makeup these artists create is exceptional - and the hair too. I really can't recommend them highly enough. Monica did my daughter's bridal hair and makeup and I  was impressed with her professionalism from the moment I met her. Outstanding work too as my daughter does not have the easiest hair to work with. It was our third hair trial when we first met Monica as two other trials had not worked out. She put us at ease and the hair the day of the wedding was nothing short of amazing. My daughter's make up was just the perfect bridal look of glamorous but not too overdone. I've worked with Monica & Manning both on a professional level as well as a personal level now, being a wedding photographer! I came across their work when they did the makeup of one of my brides! I LOVED how well executed her makeup was both in person and in photographs and I loved how friendly and just welcoming they are! I knew that they were who I wanted to do my makeup after working with them the first time! Monica had done my bride's makeup, and on my own wedding day and for my engagement session trial, Manning was the one who did it! I can say nothing but good words for them both!While they aren't necessarily the "cheapest" end of the wedding makeup & hair realm, it's for good reason--you're definitely paying for quality and the experience. When you work with Monica, Maning and their team, you can tell it's a refined CRAFT and service of LOVE. They treat you with so much respect and care, and it shows in their work! They listen to your needs & concerns and are so great at making you FEEL beautiful. And again, it photographs really well, which is a huge plus, since honestly, you're going to be taking a LOT of photographs (whether professionally taken or by a friend)! ;)A huge shoutout to Karen, Elaine & Quendie, too! I first met Monica when she did the hair & makeup for my best friend's wedding. She did such an amazing job that I knew I had to book her when I got married. Well, fast forward a year it was my turn to be a bride! The first person I contacted after I booked my venue date was Monica. I had to make sure she was available, and if she wasn't, I was seriously going to change my wedding date! Fortunately she wasn't booked so I immediately signed the contract and sent my deposit to secure the date.I don't wear much makeup in general, mostly because I am terrible at putting on makeup and don't know what I'm doing most of the time. I also  wasn't blessed with natural beauty, so I needed a LOT of help -- especially with my skin & uneven eyelids! I'm not the easiest to work with because I don't really know what I want or give clear direction, which is exactly why I needed to have two trials. I loved the look of my first trial, but I had a couple notes so when it came to the second trial, Monica made me look like the best version of me. And on the wedding day? Oh my goodness she worked her magic again and made me look sooo beautiful that my husband literally cried when we had our first look lol.Monica really has a gift. She has the ability to make you look like the best version of YOU. She will completely transform and glam you up while still making you look like you -- if that makes sense. She takes the time to study her brides. She would put some makeup on your face, step back and look at you, tilt her head, study you, test the light on you in different angles, then continue. She doesn't just put a ton of makeup on your face and make you look cakey or like a completely different person. She truly is in every sense of the word, an artist. I've never felt or looked more beautiful in my life!Having two trials and choosing Monica (senior artist) was not cheap, and it shouldn't be. She's highly skilled and experienced, and she works her butt off. Choosing Monica and Studio mm&b was the BEST decision I could have made on my wedding day (other than marrying my husband lol). When contacting potential makeup artists, studio mm&b was the most responsive, answering questions and providing information right away. It made it an easy decision, especially after seeing all their glowing reviews. Manning and her team were amazing, from the initial trial (which I highly recommend investing in!) to the day-of. They created a whole beauty timeline that made sure everyone was on schedule. Manning is such a pro, and all the artists were super accommodating--they based their work on what everyone in our party wanted, but provided their professional opinion when needed. Everyone was so happy with their hair and makeup (even a couple very picky grandmothers!).I loved the little touch-up kit that they gave me, though I didn't need any of it since the makeup stayed in place the whole night, despite some tears during the ceremony. Monica was amazing! I'm glad I did the trial because I was able to request changes for my wedding day and it turned out amazing. Monica made me look SO GOOD I'm almost embarrassed. People kept telling me how great I look but on a normal basis I don't really wear makeup so it was a transformation... the next day I did not look so good hahaha. My friend had used Studio MM&B for her wedding and they did such a fantastic job (especially on someone like me who NEVER wears makeup or does their hair), I knew I had to call them for my wedding. They were super easy to get in contact with, with me being in Texas, and were able to schedule a makeup trial during the short time I was in California for the holidays. Karen was my makeup artist and did such a fabulous job. I never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day. I knew I wasn't much help to her regarding what kind of makeup I wanted, but she was able to keep it super natural looking. Monica made my wedding planning process and wedding day feel so special. From the minute I walked in to our initial consultation, I knew I had made the right decision. She paid close care and attention to every detail and had the sweetest personality ever. I can be very indecisive, but Monica  never made me feel rushed or pressured to make decisions. She has an incredible gift in the way she especially does make up-- the way she blends everything together and her use of color while keeping a natural look is absolutely amazing! The two most important vendors for my wedding were photographer and the hair and makeup artist because the two of them together is what helps you end up with amazing pictures, which, besides memories, are all that's left after the wedding is over. When I got engaged, I already knew that I would want to book a top notch makeup artist in order to look and feel my best on my wedding day. I immediately reached out to Studio MM&B. I had been following their work on social media and knew that I NEEDED to book Manning, one of the two partners of the company. One of the things I'd noticed about Manning's work is that although all of her brides are obviously physically different, there was a uniform quality to her work in the sense that you can tell that even though she customizes the makeup to suit each face, she strives for a natural, diffused look with all of her brides, beginning with flawless looking skin. The way she does makeup on her brides is reflected in the way she does makeup on herself. If you see pictures of Manning, you'll know what I mean - perfect skin (not too dewy or matte), natural looking, clean eyebrows, gorgeous soft makeup. I was so confident in selecting Manning, that I booked her before I had my trial session. Cost wise, Studio MM&B is definitely on the highest end of the spectrum. I can't speak for Monica or any of their associates since I don't have personal experience with them, but I firmly believe that Manning is worth the premium, not just because of her talent and the quality of her makeup kit, brushes, tools, etc. but because of her level of attention and care she gives to her clients. I'm not sure if this is the norm, but my trial session was over 5 hours. During the session, she listened carefully to my vision and thoughtfully incorporated the pictures I'd brought for inspiration into the looks she created for me. Manning uses only the highest quality makeup brands and is definitely up to speed with the current makeup and hair trends. I loved that when I said I wanted Korean brows, she knew exactly what I meant and created that thick, straight eyebrow look I'm loving these days.  I loved that when I told her I wanted soft, rosey golden tones on my face, she knew exactly what I meant and delivered. I was a little nervous about how she'd do my eyes because I've never been happy about how makeup artists do my monolid eyes, but she came through and with my input pulled together a look that looked natural yet opened up my eyes. Suffice it to say, after my trial, I was thrilled about my choice to book Manning. You can totally tell she's a perfectionist about her craft, which I appreciate. One important insight to mention is that I'm normally intimidated by makeup artists and find them to be too pushy. Not Manning. She's very chill and just plain nice all around. A few weeks before the wedding, I found some pictures of hairstyles that I wanted to try and asked if I could have a second trial session. Manning was more than willing to squeeze me into her schedule on a Sunday, which I appreciated since I work Monday through Friday. Again, I was super pleased with her level of service and attention to detail. On the morning of the wedding, Manning and her team of Karen and Quendie arrived to my hotel room exactly on time and got to work. I sheepishly showed her a completely different hairstyle than the ones we'd tried before, yet she was SUCH a good sport. Not only was she totally accommodating, she actually achieved the look I was going for on the very first try, under PRESSURE. What a true professional.  I was kind of in my own bubble with Manning that morning, so I can't really provide details about Karen or Quendie, but my bridesmaids and mom looked amazing, and I know for a fact both were very accommodating to everyone's tastes and preferences, even making last minute changes. I just got my professional pictures back and I'm thrilled at how I look. That's not me bragging because it was honestly ALL hair and makeup, and maybe 10% having a good photographer. I'm so happy with my wedding day look that I plan to submit my pictures to wedding blogs. This review is long overdue, but better late than never. I had to plan my OC wedding from Chicago (where I live) and the one thing that stressed me out the most was finding a hair/makeup vendor. I flew to LA for a weekend and booked back-to-back trials. My first trial was with a well-known hair/makeup vendor, but the artist I was assigned didn't listen to anything I said and I hated my trial. It left me feeling worried about my other trials and I almost gave up hope altogether.But as soon as I met Karen and Monica, everything turned around. Before I even met them, Monica sent me a detailed questionnaire asking for my social media handles, everyday hair/makeup preferences, and my ideal beauty/fashion celebrities. So by the time I met with Karen (my talented and lovely HMU artist), she already knew my preferences. She went way back into my Instagram and Pinterest profiles to analyze my everyday style, which helped establish a foundation for our conversation about what I was looking for. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated that. Karen did an amazing job during my trial, and Monica came at the end of my appointment to review the overall look with Karen. They went over every detail, and by the time I left, I felt so relieved that I cancelled my other trials and booked with Studio MM&B. On the day of the wedding, all of the other HMU artists that arrived with Karen were so attentive and professional. Each member of my bridal party, from my junior bridesmaid, all the way up to my mother and mother-in-law, felt and looked beautiful. PICK STUDIO MM&B!!!!!!My friend had Monica as her make up and hair on her wedding day. I love my friend's make up, so I reached out to her when I was picking my make up and hair stylist.   Long story short, the best choice!  I enjoy my trial session with Manning!  She is so fun to hang out with!  They came to my wedding preparation on time, so made me less nervous!  Everything just went so perfectly!  Manning and her team were so patient and detailed. Got my hair and makeup done by Monica for a trial and of course for the day of my wedding! Monica did amazing with my hair and makeup! I've gotten my hair and makeup done by others before and I have never ever liked it until I met Monica. If I could keep her in my pocket to do my hair and makeup for life, I would! I got married at the St. Regis Monarch Beach in Dana Point and it was a tad breezy on that summer day. My hair stayed the whole ceremony and reception with body and bounce, just as she promised! My makeup stayed the whole time as well without looking cakey or over done, which is a must! Let me tell you, when I cried during our vows and during some speeches the tears rolled down my face but my makeup did not budge one bit! Call me conceited but I was flawless! Monica from the moment I met her made every effort to make sure I was happy with everything and individualized my every need and concern for my hair and makeup! Everything from the beginning of my makeup/hair trial to the day of my wedding, Monica made my bridal experience of "getting ready" one the best highlights (besides marrying my best friend of course! lol). Manning is an incredible makeup artist. I first found her and her team by searching Yelp to find a makeup artist who did airbrush makeup and had positive reviews.  I made an appointment for my wedding trial and wedding makeup and she made me feel as pretty as I think I could possibly feel on my wedding day! I recommend doing the trial so you get an idea on the look you want on your big day - I went in to my trial appointment having no idea what I wanted except that I wanted a more glam look.  I basically trusted her on whatever she thinks will look good and she did her magic.  She is knowledgeable and strives for perfection in her work.  As a client, I cannot ask for anything more.  Her sense of fashion and style is just incredible and if you follow Studio mm&b on Instagram you will certainly see what I mean. She also did the hair and makeup for some of my bridesmaids, and again, stunning! I really wish she could do my makeup every day. This review is long overdue - one year ago, my husband and I decided to ditch our year long work of wedding planning and instead get married within a week's notice in the backyard of the house we'd just bought. I turned to yelp as I scrambled to find a wedding hair stylist available on such short notice, and was immediately impressed by the solid reviews Studio MM&B had. They were quick to respond, super pleasant, and were able to accommodate me (upon my request for suggestions, they also recommended the wedding photographer we ended up hiring and loving! 2/2 win).
