I have been going to both locations of Studio Kay for years now and I have never been more impressed by any other business. After my last experience I was so speechless that I decided to make a yelp account just so I could share my experience. The owner is a professional and on top of her styling game. The receptionists and the staff are very welcoming and nice. You get what you ask for with zero damage. I would give Lara and her staff 15 stars for being the most patient and best beauty salon in all of LA. I first want to start off by saying Studio Kay is and has been the best hair salon since 2013. Successful hair salons in the city of Glendale usually don’t work. The community is very negative, not supporting, and try to ruin anything pretty. Love this salon! I've tried out other salons/stylists but was never able to get the look I wanted. Now, I've been going to Mell for years, and she's got me to the perfect blonde I wanted without damaging my hair at all (my hair is curly so something goes wrong and my curls are ruined but Mell has managed to maintain my curls & keep them healthy).  I've also gotten my makeup done there for a wedding, and Valentina did an amazing job. I recently went in for my hair appt after 2 yrs of not being there. As I walked in Lara's reaction was like a lightbulb went off, & I'm like "okay great customer service she remembers me" but it actually dawned to me once we started talking, she made me feel like an old friend that I haven't seen in years. She remembered things I had told her back then and that shows me that it's not all about getting her ratings she genuinely cares about her customers which eventually turn into friendships. First impression is very important, but I give it some time before I can make a comment about my experience. When I first decided to get highlights, I wasn't sure who to trust. I went to a salon recommended by one of my friends , spent a lot of money and did not get the result that I wanted. I found Serli on Instagram. After looking through many of her pictures I loved her work and ever since she's been my stylist. She is very honest, talented, professional and kind. Studio Kay is my go to salon for all my hair needs. I always book my appointments with Mel, her Instagram is @hairbymellb. She's amazing at what she does and always delivers what she promises to her clients. She was the only one who was able to make me blonde after I had dyed my hair black for 6 years! This review is long overdue! My daughter and I have been going to Mell for a few years and she is simply the best!  She understands exactly what I want (even when I have no idea! ) and she also gives my daughter great advice for hair products that will work for her particular hair type.  I am 55 and my daughter is 23, Mell styles my hair in such a way that always makes me feel like a rockstar when I leave.  (I always try and schedule "date night" after a Mell visit!)  She is also patient, professional and timely...qualities we appreciate.Thank you Mell! I was so worried at first to find someone to color my hair because I didn't want it to turn out bad, but when my sister told me to come to her cousin Mel, I couldn't have been more glad to have her be my hairstylist. Mel is such an amazing, kind hearted person I've ever met. She made me feel extremely comfortable when I was nervous to color my hair. She's very professional when it comes to her work yet she's so nice and joked around. She's very open and makes you feel like you can talk to her for hours. She did an amazing job with my hair and i've been going to her for about a year now. I always wanted an ashy platinum look and she gave me exactly that. I definitely would recommend her to anyone. She does exactly what you want and is always open to receiving your messages and responds back. I've never felt so close to a hairstylist before and I'm so happy to have her as mine. I woke up this morning desperately needing a root touch up and trim but I'm so bad at making appointments for things like this so I didn't have one. I decided to try my luck and walked into studio Kay. It's not my first time at the salon and I've always had great experience, this time it was exceptional so I wanted to leave a review. The girl at the front desk was so sweet and maybe saw the desperation and told me she'd check for me if there was a stylist who could take me. She came back and said Talin would be helping me. Talin was great, she explained what she was going to do every step of the way, didn't rush me, did what I asked exactly. Everyone is really nice and they don't make you feel like they're doing you a favor like some other salons. Thank you Talin! I was always sooo indecisive wether to change my brunette hair since It's what I'm familiar with. About two months ago I made an appt and backed out last minute bc I was just so scared! After just looking at their balayages and etc , I found a picture I liked ! I made another appt , and I was assigned the same stylist! Lucky me , I'm glad I waited this long or else I wouldn't have gotten the sweetest Ani ! Guys I was scared to death during the whole process, she made me feel comfortable, was soo gentle and reassuring. She clearly cares about her clients , and loves her job. My hair is flawless thanks to her!! I have no compaints what so ever , just glad/grateful she was at my service since I see a few 1 star reviews of others. #side note , front receptionist not one of the usuals has got to be more greeting with her stares , makes you feel unwelcome! Searched a lot for hair and makeup for my brother's wedding.  Not many great places in the valley - I found two, but found scheduling was much easier at Studio Kay.  I didn't have to coordinate with each individual artist; their receptionist did that for me.  After looking at photos on Instagram, decided to book with Valentina (makeup) and Jessica (hair) for me and my mom.  They were truly amazing!  So talented and easy to work with. They came from the Glendale location and were on time.  We showed them photos of what we were going for and they did a great job.  Thank you so much!  Will definitely go back to them for any future occasions.  If I had to critique one thing, it would be that the salon itself could be a little cleaner.  I would recommend they staff someone there to greet people and keep up the place and maybe offer refreshments. Been coming here probably over the last two years and I have been so happy. I go to lara and she's amazing! Even though my initial experience with this salon was terrible, it was sorted out immediately by the owner, Lara. When you're operating with a high volume of stylists and multiple female personalities, it's common for unfortunate events to occur, but the minute Lara found out, she went above and beyond to remedy the situation. I had an awesome experience here with Lara! I got a nice hair cut and blowout with waves. She immediately noticed my hair was in bad shape because of a previous cut gone wrong. I waited many months until my hair recovered enough for another cut, and thankfully Lara was the one to remedy the situation. She is truly talented and takes pride in her work. Love love love the staff here !!!!Not to mention how talented everyone is, I've gotten my hair done by a couple girls here, whether it's a simple blow dry or a whole color correction and i absolutely loved it ! !The atmosphere is so friendly and happy every time you walked in. They all greet you so warmly and make sure you're super satisfied before you walk out. I LOVE this salon. It's my go to for literally everything... I've been a client here for many many years now, when i started going here my hair was black and i wanted to go to blonde. Lara explained the whole process to me thoroughly and made me feel so comfortable that she'll be working with my hair, i went from black to blonde with NO damage to my hair whatsoever. I stayed blonde for about 5 years and i recently had a brown chocolate color done and added some extensions. I've never left the salon unhappy!! I've always loved my hair and the process makes it so much better. Besides my hair always coming out flawless, the staff is SO amazing. Every one there makes you feel so welcome, this salon isn't just a hair salon to me anymore, they're all friends now! I can walk in anytime and have so much fun while getting my hair done. Full service salon!  Clean and full of professionals.  Everyone around does amazing work.  From make up to hair styles, to hair color etc. If you want honesty and great recommendations for your self I highly recommend you book your next appointment with Athena.    This was my first time meeting  her and and first time she has ever done my hair.  Athena has only begun her magic on me and I'm very much looking forward to the end result.  Going from brunette to blonde is never easy. She knows hair and knows what she's doing.  She knew the exact method that needed to be done  for my hair type and color. She knocked out a solid amount of the dark in the first session and my hair does not feel damaged.   She's very sweet and makes the time pass with good conversation.  She recommended a hair treatment to use in between and will not bring you in sooner that you need to if your hair needs to be processed further.   It's been a few days and I was reminded of an event happening sooner than when my second session was to take place.  I reached out  to Athena for an earlier second session and suggested a possibility of lowlights. I couldn't wait for another session for the blonde process  and although the first session was a hit with many compliments, Athena was more than accommodating to give me a warm tone color for an event happening sooner than the second session was to come.  She's knocked this color out of the park! I've been going to Mel Bartemian @hairbymellb for GOD knows how long... at least OVER 5 years. During this time I've tried different hair dressers for color, cut and extensions and NO ONE ever compared to her. She is amazing and always does what I want. Whenever I have a question, I text her and she responds right away. She has always been my #1 and she knows how serious I take my hair, especially since I have extensions.
