We had never worked with an interior designer before but were super-impressed with Studio K. Vickie very quickly understood our tastes, as well as the practical requirements of a liveable family environment. She managed to perfectly balance giving us the beautiful, aesthetically designed house we wanted, but that reflects our individual personality so it feels perfectly like our home. The process was smooth, accommodated any changes to schedule, budget, or the wider build process and we would never have achieved what we did without their help. Having worked wth various designers over the years, I can safely say Vicki at Studio K is by far the best. Vicki has a keen eye for detail and always ready to go that extra mile. Seeing the schemes, creativity and overall great ideas that are put forward, saying Vicki is good at what she does is an understatement. Professional in all aspects. It is an absolute pleasure working with Studio K. Very highly recommended. More...

We've recently had the opportunity to work with Vickie and the Studio K team, and it could not have been a more pleasant and easy process. Vickie's attention to detail and excellent communication skills was key to the smooth running of our collaboration. Open mindedness and versatility is our initial impression of Studio K in the couple of projects we've collaborated on thus far, as they builds upon new ideas to create designs that are that much more individual. We indeed look forward to more collaborations going forward. More...

Vickie was the complete package - she came up with some great ideas, stuck to our budget and organised everything with care, patience and professionalism. She was incredibly organised too, and regularly presented us with updated spreadsheets so we could see where the money was being spent, which items had been ordered and when they would be delivered. She was a pleasure to work with. More...

"Studio K have been a pleasure to work with. They listen to their clients and deliver a great outcome. I kept adding to the brief and the project grew in scale but Studio K were superb in handling the whole project on my behalf. I would be happy to recommend them to friends and colleagues." More...

I have had the good fortune to photograph two of Studio K's design projects, and was impressed by their ability to style two very different spaces in ways clearly appropriate and satisfying to their clients: fabrics and lighting for example very carefully chosen to provide an interesting and harmonious look and feel. Their meticulous and thorough approach, and evident pride in their work, would incline me to recommend them to anyone considering hiring an interior designer. More...

I would thoroughly recommend Studio K to anyone looking for help in refurbishing and designing their home. They have a rare combination of efficiency and professionalism that wouldn’t be out of place in any organisation, with the creative ability to make your house look great.

In a building project, a number of the other suppliers, builders, contractors aren’t always as organised and reliable as you would like. Having Vickie and Nicola managing the process made the process unrecognisably more efficient and less stressful.

They were very good at meeting the brief, including more creative requests around childrens' bedrooms and playrooms, as well as managing a great solution to a budget. They recommended where it was good to invest a little bit extra, and where cost savings could be achieved… and they were right.

Their professional approach meant that there were not only no issues with the builders or anyone else, and in fact they created an environment where others had to raise their game to keep up. Things go wrong on building projects - Studio K takes everything personally, and genuinely isn’t happy until the solution meets your, and their, very high standards.

In one of the busiest years of my life, even without the building project, Vickie and Nicola turned what could have been very stressful and expensive, into a successful and calm project that resulted in a lovely house for my family.

Simon came to photograph our Miner's Cottages on behalf of Centaur Media for the 2016 Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards. Not only was Simon was very professional throughout the shoot but he was also personable and respectful of our home. The photographs were fantastic both from an artistic and technical perspective, the house is definitely tricky to shoot as being an old cottage the light quality is subdued., however Simon captured the atmosphere perfectly. We had a sneak peek at the photographs but can't wait to see them published in future editions of HBR magazine! More...

Simon has been taking professional shots of my projects for over 10 years and his work has been instrumental in promoting my business.
It is a delight to work with such an experienced and knowledgable photographer who knows instinctively how to capture the perfect shot whether it's for a website, magazine feature or other promotional material.
I highly recommend Simon's services...personally I wouldn't use anyone else!

Q&As

Typically a project will have 3 or 4 key service stages which are agreed with the client at the outset.

All projects will have a Concept Design stage, which is then followed by the Developed Design stage (depending on the project this will be split into Interior Architecture, then Interior Decor / Design or will just be Interior Decor / Design). Finally, the design phase of the project will be completed with the Installation stage.

Additional services can be undertaken and agreed with the client, such as Overseeing the Project build / decor, shopping trips, consultation etc.

All services will be discussed on a case by case basis so that the client is getting exactly what they require for their project.

We prefer not to have a definitive house style, instead we offer a custom design service specific to each client’s personal style, the requirements of the project and architecture of the property.

As a result the projects we deliver can vary from design styles that are contemporary, traditional, industrial through to classical modern and period properties.

We love the variety within our working day and seeing a client enjoy the end product, of the journey we undertake together.

Our role, as designers, is to take the client's ideas of what they wish for their room or home and deliver that into a reality, which also takes the stress of the project away from the client.

Following my retraining at KLC School of Design, I was awarded the accolade Top Student which gave me the push I needed to start my own business. Having sat on the executive teams within my City career, I had a variety of business management and project management skills, which were easily transferred to running my own business. Alongside this, receiving my award for design I had the creative skill set to progress my career change.

Studio K Design was created and in the first year successfully secured several highly prestigious projects and an impressive client list.

Harnessing strong business acumen garnered from previous careers in the corporate world, we're entirely focused on delivering and exceeding our clients’ expectations whilst offering a distinctive approach to each new design. We work to the highest standards with meticulous attention to detail, with our fundamental cornerstone being communication. This results in delivered projects that are considered, exceptionally organised, and tailored to the individual client, as well as being great designs.

As a creative we draw on our complimentary skills from our City careers to ensure that projects are meticulously managed from concept to completion and with exceptional attention to detail. We uphold strong business principles and ethics, with honesty and integrity in all our work and provide full transparency to our clients. This business centric approach of the design practice, delivering projects to the highest standards, on time and within budget has proven to be highly regarded by our clients and industry professionals alike.
