I took the beginner salsa series here. Miriam (instructor) tries to put humor and fun into her classes. I appreciate that. She is expert in the world of dance and can answer your questions about the moves and knows the history behind the dances. She has great technical skills, is patient, and tries to help each individual dancer improve :) More...

I've always found dancing intimidating for some reason, though every one at Studio D is so friendly and the environment is very welcoming. Even as a beginner I've already learned a ton and it's so much fun! More...

Moving to Tallahassee for the first time, I was nervous that there wouldn't be many places to go dancing in town. Â My worries were swept away, however, once I found Studio D. Â At Studio D, Miriam Watkins brings to Tallahassee a solid teaching dynamic with great emphasis on technique for both leads and follows. Â Beginner to advanced dancers can learn salsa and bachata in this inviting and friendly setting. Â And once you learn the moves, you can continue practicing on the dance floor! Â Studio D hosts Tallahassee Salsa Socials once a month, where a special guest instructor will teach a top-notch lesson, followed by a dance social in the evening. Â There are also excellent bachata socials every Thursday evening. Â Finally, Studio D provides opportunities to be a part of salsa or bachata dance teams for those who wish to perform. Â Salsa and bachata dancing are by-far my favorite hobbies and I have had so much fun dancing here. Â I assure that you'll definitely have a great time while learning and dancing here as well. I scheduled Miriam for a private salsa lesson. She was very flexible with time but there were some studio availability issues initially. Once we did find a time (after a long work day), the lesson was so much fun! I was probably somewhere between discombobulated and uncoordinated (so basically a pre-beginner) but Miriam hooked me up with the basic groove. Her style of teaching is somewhere between strict and encouraging (as with most good instructors). And before leaving, she even assigned homework and did a video primer even though I am just visiting for work. So, if you do live in Tally, I would dance not walk over to Miriam's and have fun, get healthy and get groovin', like yesterday. More...
