A great option for people who want a mixture of classes, personal training and solo gym use. With a background as a long-distance runner, I started personal training with John Wensing 9 months ago. Since then, my core and back muscles have strengthened and my posture has improved. John's sessions are challenging, rewarding, and leave me with new levels of knowledge and confidence I can apply to training in my own time. This is by far the most beautiful gym I have ever been in. I am a bit of a gym snob and worked in the fitness industry for years and I was floored. They have managed to strike a perfect balance between utility and beauty as being in the space itself feels inspiring. They have a wide variety of functional equipment, open space and all of the machines you could possibly want/need. The natural light, exposed brick and high ceilings add to the already beautiful layout of the facility. I visited on a Monday around 3pm and spent part of my workout in an almost empty gym- it was my version of heaven! Studio 4 became so much more than a gym for me. It's where I've met people I now call good friends and where opportunities outside of the gym continue to happen. This gym is a made up of a network of authentic people who share a passion for dance, martial arts and physical fitness. The gym itslef has an amazing aura and has become my sanctuary. Studio 4 is THE place to workout in Victoria. The staff are always smiling, are willing to help you out if you have any questions, and make you feel right at home. The gym nurtures community and that is something that past gyms I have had memberships with are missing. If you are a beginner gym-goer, you will not feel intimidated as everyone is there to help and motivate each other. Their space itself is exceptional - very inviting environment with warm artificial lighting - good for observing your gains too ;) - and there is a lot of natural light too so you don't feel like you're stuck in a box. It has a hip industrial/warehouse vibe with the brick walls and multi-level areas for their infinite free weights and cable & cardio machines, and various rooms used for dance, boxing, martial arts, and workout classes. I have called Studio 4 home now for the last 3 years. I had tried several facilities in the area both private/public when I moved into the downtown area. I ended up bringing my sweaty a$$ back here permanently. Some of the reasons: Friendly Staff, equipment variety, boxing room/classes included in membership which led me to train and then partake in FFTC, The friendly members(although most of the time I wear my ear buds and I may appear anti-social myself) Variety of classes included in membership, affordable pricing and of course the View St Parkade and proximity to gym during the cold, wet season, plus first hour free.
