About
What I want to do most is to create the images that you want to have people experience.
After our photo session is done, my favorites will have really cool lighting and a background that complements the main image. Your favorites will be the ones that bring out your favorite features, or hide the ones you don't want to talk about.
So let's create images that look the way you want them to. We can emphasize some features over others using light & shadows, and perspective & focus. Tell me what you want. Just as important, tell me what you don't want. So, relax and have fun. Putting personality into the images is what our process is all about.
My passion for photography began with a Kodak 126 Instamatic camera and more black & white shots of a black & white cat than anyone - except me - cared to look at. Having shot, developed, and printed film since the '80s, I now love the instant images rendered by digital equipment, and the ability to more quickly fine tune the composition and lighting based on immediate client feedback.
I like taking all kinds of shots, but my favorites are ones that tell stories, get people to think, and make you look up and down and back and forth - twice. (Kind of like that feeling when you read something over again, even though you already know what it says, just because of the way it is written.)
Some people just want a shot that shows what they look like; if so, that's what I'll take. And while it's a good starting point, even with the most simple shot, much more can be done. A Realtor does not just want her customers to see what she looks like, she wants that image to generate confidence. Products can be shot against a plain background, or can have their stories told as well... we can go farther, and also show the happiness in the smile that the new necklace will bring to her face!
The real fun comes in developing the image we want to display, especially with emotion or interaction. For example, I find that some of the best shots of children are at Halloween - they are excited about their costume, and it reflects what they were interested in at that point in their lives.
Rates for creative sessions listed below are for studio or local shoots.
