It is so rare to find a company as helpful as Stormcatcher, They go out of their way to help you through what can be a very stressful time. I bought a Renault Megané that turned out to have had a very poor respray, the dealer would not even view the vehicle. In the end I re-sold the vehicle at a very small loss (I listed all the issues to the buyer) as it was the easiest & quickest option. Having come across Stormcatcher’s website whilst attempting to single handily deal with a faulty car, a dealer who wasn’t responding, and the warranty provided by the AA failing to cover any repairs, I couldn’t be more grateful for the above and beyond professionalism, service, and guidance that Mr Philip Harmer and his team have provided us for free. Phil takes a no-nonsense approach. His advice and knowledge of consumer law, particularly around the motoring industry is second to none in my opinion. Today I have received full settlement on the judgement and im delighted. I was sold a faulty car and the dealership tried to avoid their responsibility and were basically ignoring me. I paid for Which legal advice and also received legal advice from my home insurance, both encouraged me that the legal process I had in mind, would be simple. I initially called Mr Harmer looking for him to represent me, however he soon gave me some insight on probable costs and pitfalls and most importantly allowed me to view the case from a different perspective. This led me to take the small claims court route, a route that was relatively inexpensive and virtually painless. I had obviously stopped taking advice from the other sources by this point and even though he wouldn't accept payment he continued to diligently and altruistically guide me. I called Phil for the first time about 2 weeks ago now, when I was in the first throws of what I can only describe a nightmare situation (for me) regarding a vehicle I'd bought. The vehicle had various mechanical issues and I was not getting any communication from the dealer to resolve them. Phil listened to my hysteria and although firm in his approach, he guided me to rationalise the situation. He filtered through my emotions to gather the facts and advised me on the steps I needed to take to create the evidence I needed to move forward. Phil took the time to speak with me every few days to advise me further and he maintained a firm but empathic nature which I really appreciated. I felt so safe in his knowledge of the law and of his extensive experience of this type of behaviour from a (dodgy) dealer. I'm not clear of the issue with the dealer entirely (yet) but it's looking like I'll get there soon and I honestly believe it's all down to his guidance. He told me what I should and should not be saying to the dealer to get a positive outcome. I know I'd have focused on other things if I was without his advice and the outcome could have been totally different. He really knows his stuff. Phil provides an incredible free advice service and from the outset he maintained that he didn't want to discuss having to represent me and go to court, which would cost me both financially and emotionally.That was a last resort as far as he was concerned. After a proper rubbish experience with this dealer and vehicle, finding Phil has been a beautiful reminder that there are still some amazing human beings in this world who are willing to help without wanting anything in return. What a great service! I needed a license agreement looking at quickly & Philip come to my rescue. I rang up Philip about 4 months ago as I was getting nowhere trying to get my car rejected. Phil gave me hours of free advice and when I couldn’t take any more of the stress and chauvinism from the dealers at VVS I got Phil to take the reigns. I would like to thank Philip and his team for is excellent advise and no-nonsense approach to helping us get our issues resolved. From the beginning Philip gave sound advice in how to approach the issue with the aim to getting is resolved quickly and easily. 12 weeks later when we we no further forward in getting the issue resolved with the finance company, and i emailed for further advise, he responded immediately with next steps and contact the Financial Ombudsmen Service. The complaint has now been raised and will hopefully resolved in a matter of week, but without Stormcatcher Law we would have been £15k out of pocket and a car not fit for purpose.
