Just so you know, my daughter had Stonebridge chosen for her as her umbrella employer when on agency contract. She didn't choose them. After she completed the work for the agency, she received funds from Stonebridge who asked her to sign a contract AFTER the work had been completed. The contract made no mention of having to pay for 'margin' costs and also an 'apprentice levy' - yet her payslip showed deductions for both these items. My daughter received no training on the job (she's not an apprentice in any way) and, after researching what the 'margin' costs are, it transpires that she paid the admin costs that it took to pay her! So, in short, the agency hired Stonebridge Payment Solutions as an outsourced employer and then made the employee (my daughter) pay the costs for this out of her wage slip. This was never agreed in advance and wasn't even in the contract.

I phoned Stonebridge to ask for these funds to be returned and was at least dealt with quickly on the phone, which surprised me. However that was where anything good ended and I was given a series of 'managed' answers before being told that someone senior would return my call. This call of course never came.

Stonebridge, in my opinion were complicit in a 'bate and switch' scam with the Agency in question and defrauded my daughter in the process outwith the terms of their own contract.

In closing, I'm a little dubious about legitimacy of the previous five star ratings Stonebridge have accrued here. I would have awarded them a few stars less than one if the system had allowed it. More...
