If I could give this place more then 5 stars, I would. I found them through a sponsored ad on Instagram. I am very particular about who cuts my hair and have had so many bad cuts from other salons. I followed them on Instagram to see what kind of cut and work they did and I fell in love. The hair they do here is amazing. They have unbelievable customer service. They address you by name when you walk in the door and offer you a drink. My stylist has been the only person to cut my hair to fit my face and not just bluntly cut. You feel so special here. I have had my hair cut and colored in the city for 15 years from some of the top name salons.   Now I am in Evanston full-time.  I thought I would give Steven Papageorge a try.   I chose my stylist carefully and couldn't have been more pleased!!   Elise did a fabulous job with my color.  I like chocolate brown with subtle highlights.  Often, even at the best salons in the city, I end-up with harsh blond highlights, ick!!!  Elise totally nailed the color.  Then suggested I go shorter with my hair.  I admit, I was nervous.  But her cut probably took 5 years off my face.  My friends, family all commented on how cute I look.  She also didn't try to oversell products, which I appreciate.I'm a customer for life thanks to Elise!! Oook, so it does sound a bit like a pizza shop but... Let Me Tell You the only sauce here is the magic they do to your hair. I love the balayage technique Analie does especially because I have fine hair and not a lot of hair. The foil highlights I use to get were often stripy looking and not very natural at all. Also, other salons would get my color wrong frequently! Saying Oh! Wow! Your hair really lightens quickly! Even after I've reminded them. And they have me sitting there waiting forever while they do someone else's hair!! I love that I can just say tonAnalie, "whatever you think will look good is fine with me" and my hair always looks great when finished. My hair is long and very straight. I usually just get a trim but sometime soon I'm going short! and can comment with more detail on the cut at that point. Either way, long/short or curly/ straight, I'd trust these people to do a beautiful job with my hair. As an aside, there is only metered street parking but there is an app you can download for ease of paying and the parking fee is minimal and totally with it! More...

This was my first experience at S. P. I walked in off the street and a stylist could see me right away! The receptionist was polite and offered me a drink. Nicole took very good care of me. I have thinning hair and a VERY sensitive scalp. She took her time, was extremely gentle, and checked in with me often. I often end up avoiding having to go get my hair done professionally just because it's tough finding a place. I randomly decided to try out Steven Papageorge after checking out the reviews and made an appointment online. The entire process was super easy and everyone was extremely nice. When I showed up I was asked if I wanted anything to drink and didn't wait too long until Tasos came to greet me. Him and I talked about what I wanted to do to my hair and we agreed that a subtle balayage would be best since I have brown hair. I also mentioned I wanted to get rid of my split ends and to frame my face a bit more. He talked me through the entire process and was very nice and patient the entire time. I really enjoyed the end result and he even gave me tips on how to maintain my hair. I really appreciated the tips as I often find it hard to figure out what works best with my hair. I highly recommend Annalie at Steven Papageorge salon! I've been a dark/dirty blonde my entire life and was really looking for a change. I was nervous, however,  because I wasn't sure I'd actually like how I'd look with darker hair. After a consultation with Annalie and badly describing what I wanted, she assured me she knew what would look good on me and achieve the look I was going for. The color came out PERFECT. Such a warm, rich brown, which was the upgrade my dry ashy hair needed. Not only was the color fantastic and exactly how I'd imagined, Annalie gave me the best blowout of my life. My hair came out so soft, bouncy, voluminous, and shiny! My hair looked much fuller and (maybe my mind was just playing tricks) longer too! Overall I'd rate Steven Papageorge salon 11/10. I had an amazing experience for my first appointment with Elise. Not only did she listen super carefully to the description of what I was looking for in terms of style and color, she also incorporated her own input/expertise with respect to what she thought would look best with my face shape and skin tone (which I was very open to and appreciated).  My most recent cut and color were super grown out, so she had a "fresh canvas" to work with, and I didn't show her any photos of what my former stylist's work looked like (which I was 95% happy with and only stopped going to her due to the commute distance) because I wanted to see what she'd come up with on her own. I called this salon and they were able to take me in right away given how busy they were. It was my first time there and the staff was very accommodating. Elise was my stylist who from a picture I had on my phone was able to create the exact style I wanted (blow out with curls, but very subtle beach wave type). I absolutely love this hair salon. This is one of the best salons I've ever been to and the services provided to customers are top notch. I have gotten my haircut here a few times now and have never been disappointed. The owner cut my hair the first time, and it was honestly the first time I ever LOVED my haircut. I used to be a Supercuts and Great Clips kinda person (not that there's anything wrong with that!), but this woman revolutionized the way I saw my hair and myself. She was incredibly kind and made sure I was happy with my hair every step of the way. I went again more recently and had Tasos cut my hair and I was just as impressed. I have straight Asian hair and it can be difficult to not make me look like an Asian with an awkward bowl cut, but he did a spectacular job. I had gotten a really terrible Pixy cut one year before (from a different salon down in Chicago) and was feeling anxious about ever getting my hair cut again. Tasos left me feeling very happy and beautiful and was happy to make any adjustments I asked for. He gave me advice on hair and engaged in great conversation. Steven Papageorge Salon has THE best balayage in the north shore. There are many hair salons closer to where I live, but it’s definitely worth the trek from Glenview. I get my hair done by Analie and she does a phenomenal job- plus she’s extremely friendly, extremely honest, and extremely attentive to what the customer wants. I LOVE Steven Papageorge. If you're a newer Northwestern student or just looking for a new a salon, I couldn't recommend SP more. They got my blonde right on the first try, after other (more expensive lol) Evanston salons failed. My balayage turns out perfectly and they always keep my hair healthy. I also get blowouts for special occasions (THE place to go for sorority recruitment, formals, job interviews, etc).I'm graduating soon, but I'll make the trek back to Evanston to keep my hair looking this good! 10/10 do recommend!! OK, for the last 50 years, I have gone to the cheapest haircut place around. As a guy, I never saw the difference between a $5 dollar or $15 haircut, which was my range over the years. I happened to go over to the salon when my usual place was completely booked up and I didn’t feel like waiting. All I can say is, wow, was I wrong about spending money on my hair. From the moment that Elie graciously and personally checks me in, through the soothing shampoo (where I almost fall asleep every time), to the superb cut that Elise gives me, all I can say is it’s a terrific experience.
