Steve is undoubtedly one of the best photographers in Manchester and Cheshire. He produced the most amazing shots of my first daughter when she was about 6months old and showing character. We now have a second daughter approaching 6months and without hesitation I will be calling on Steve again for his sublime work. Not only is Steve a wonderful photographer, but he is also a joy to be around. I’m sure his night job is at some comedy store somewhere, and if not, it should be.I can’t recommend him enough! He is simply the best! The family are all so grateful to you Steve. Thank you so much. Best RegardsEmmet More...

I was pretty nervous having some portrait photos done. He made me feel at ease and even had a giggle. He captured my true personality and I was amazed at the results. I would definately recommend Steve for all your photographic needs. So much so I have booked him for my Mums 80th birthday party as I know he will capture these memories perfectly. More...

I am a recent graduate in Journalism from Bangor University, UW. Steve Potter was on hand to deliver excellent advice and direction on the shooting of my online portfolio. This was done in a efficient, professional and timely manner with fantastic results. Members of my family have used Steve Potter as a wedding photographer, and this is how I came across him. Having seen the photos after the day, I can see why he is rated as highly as he is. He clearly has a passion for photography and this is seen throughout the completed wedding album. Would definitely recommend. More...

On the 1st birthday of our first born, we wanted some high quality proffessional photos of our little girl as lasting memories of the day. We wanted a photographer that could spend some of the day with us and take some shots of the three of us on our day out together.

We had heard of Steve Potter Photography through a friend of a friend. When I had a look at the photographer's website, I thought I'd give them a call. It was Steve himself who answered my call. We discussed the specifics of what we were looking for and thankfully he was available on the day of her birthday. So I agreed to hire him.

On the morning of my daughters birthday we arranged to meet with Steve at the location. The morning went brilliantly and lots of great shots were taken.

It was a few days later when we received the photos. They were absolutely amazing. On reflection, Steve not only produced fantastic photos, he was great fun on the day during the shots also. We have used Steve since and the quality of his work remains second to none.

I've also since recommended Steve Potter Photography to friends and family and no one has been dissapointed. Great work and a great lad. Thanks Steve.

Steve Potter is such a talented photographer I wish I had found him sooner. He made me feel so comfortable and at ease especially with the help of his female work partner. He made me laugh and giggle which provided some great natural shots. I had never had outdoor shots done before but it was a great experience and the results are stunning! More...

Hi Chrissy great to hear you were chuffed to bits with the photo shoot and the results...Thank you for leaving your comments. Have had more enquiries as a result!

Q&As

Technical knowledge i.e. lighting, backdrop, type of lens, composition, depth of field, shutter speed etc. A great image can be simple but yet very effective and evoke emotion. Client discussions are imperative also. The subject in a portrait needs to feel completely at ease and aware what is happening and why. The 'correct tool for the job' also has a huge impact in the quality of the image. My choice is Canon DSLR's with Canon lenses. No point having a performance sports car and fitting cheap tyres!!

Type of images required i.e. Product, event, groups, formal, candid etc. The venue whether studio, location, indoor, outdoor, time of day, dress code timescale and budget are all considerations.
Are clients aware that portraits are not restricted to being shot in a studio? Natural light, cities and parks / back gardens work very well with sharp subjects (clients) and blurred background to accentuate the subject. Coloured backgrounds can be 'added' in later.

Meeting new people and seeing a project through from conception to completion. Turning dreams into reality. Capturing memories. Always willing to listen to others in the same profession and take advice it is a continual learning curve.

The fact i am able to control my work / life balance following a true passion is a wonderful feeling.

As a photographer i offer honesty, passion, professionalism doubled with a competitive price and humour!
