I had Stephen as my professor at OSU. Ask him questions. When you do that, look into his eyes and pay attention. What you're seeing isn't repititious spewing of knowledge. It's a passion that moves him and drives him and amazes him. It's incredible to find people who are still lit on fire by what they do, how they do it, and how they allow it to change them. We went to Stephen Takacs for a tintype of our family. During the shoot, I was impressed by his friendliness and his attention to detail. After the shoot, I was excited when Stephen invited us to take turns in the darkroom and watch our tintypes being developed. I was blown away by the images that appeared. Seeing us in a tintype made me feel as though we'd stepped into the pages of history. I also love the reproduction-style presentation case Stephen provided. It and the tintype will look beautiful displayed in our living room. Stephen was fantastic to work with, and I hope we'll be able to do so again. More...

Stephen was wonderful to work with! I gave him a challenging task of trying to photograph 7 people in a 1/4 plate tintype and the photos he took were awesome! He was also really informative about the whole process of how the tintype photos worked. He even let us watch and educated us through the photo developing process, which was SOOOO COOL! Everyone liked the photo so much we all ended up getting prints too! I hope to work with Stephen again down the road. 10/10 would recommend. More...
