We stopped by this gelato place after dinner in Chinatown. The cafe is part of a condo complex so you might miss it if you aren't paying attention to the sign. This cafe is very cosy and more modern looking than the Bank Street location.We opted for a medium sized gelato ($9) which allowed us three flavours. The service allowed us to sample flavours. We opted for the pineapple guava, white chocolate amoretto and Gianduia (dark chocolate, hazelnut). The gelatos were all super rich on flavour and had its own distinct uniqueness to it. I really enjoyed the fruity, tangy taste of the pineapple guava one and the dark richness of the Gianduia flavour. The white chocolate amoretto was good as well, but felt the amoretto overpowered the white chocolate flavour.The portions are very generous so I would recommend sharing the medium sized gelato, as my food partner and I were super full after eating our cup.Overall, I really liked this gelato place and heard it's one of Canada's best.tip: Sunday nights after 9pm are gelato madness night, where gelato is 40% off. Stella Luna is a small gelato cafe with a big offering of gelato and other delicious treats. Beyond their Gelato, their menu includes different pastries and crepes. My order was a medium sized cup of gelato ($9)I was allowed to choose up to 3 flavours that were displayed in a refrigerator, under a glass surface. Various flavours enticed us as the creamy gelato danced underneath our very eyes. We settled on Vanilla, Maple Walnut and Passionfruit and Guava flavours. The portions were very generous, no skimping here! Armed with a small plastic spoon, I retreated back to one of many small wooden tables with my spoils, eager to satisfy my sweet tooth.The gelato was flavourful and creamy. The Passionfruit snd Guava flavour was tangy which complimented the sweet Vanilla and Maple Walnut flavours well. This is easily one of the best gelatos I have ever had the pleasure of eating! The restaurant itself was cozy and quiet. I noticed that all the other patrons seemed to enjoy their desserts, as well.Overall, I would recommend anyone to wanting to satisfy their gelato craving to give Stella Luna a visit. Amazing gelato, brought some friends for their initiation to the fabulous place! Staff was friendly and gelato was amazing, as always, however I and my friends couldn’t help but notice the thick layer of dust on the light fixtures and ceiling fixtures over the kitchen. ..took away from the great design and decor of the space. Bustling Cafe known for their award winning Gelato. Their winning feature, for me, is their generous portions. If you order a small in a waffle cone, you get 3 scoops of Gelato. I had to pause 3/4 into my Gelato nomming to decided if it was worthwhile to finish. The answer was yes.Their Gelato is super smooth and creamy. They don't have the most extensive flavor selection but they do switch up their flavours regularly. I wasn't thrilled by the 3 flavours I ended up choosing (I'm very indecisive and there was a time pressure)-- Tiramisu, raspberry white chocolate, and cookies n' cream, but I did consume the whole thing down to the tip of the waffle cone. They had several chocolate options and some sorbet options that day. Not my jam, but I'm sure other peeps salivate over that stuff. It's hard to believe that a Family owned, award winning gelato cafe can be found here right in Ottawa. This place is always packed and the line up moves pretty fast. Coffee and sandwiches are served. Waffles are amazing too. But the Gelato is the best! Great flavours, good layout of space and interesting interior decorations. And every Sunday, 9-10pm there is 40% off for their Gelato's. Super tasty gelato! I came on a Wednesday night at 9pm and the line was out the door. There was only 2 people scooping gelato but the line went by pretty fast. Kudos to the staff! You pay with the cashier first & then get your gelato. My family of 3 adults and 2 kids were struggling to finish our 2 large cups - incredibly filling for a dessert. We got a cup of mango, passionfruit, and lychee. Lychee was all of our favorites! We also got a cup of more coffee/chocolate items. We got a hazelnut, Irish coffee, and an almond cup which all the flavors kinda mashed together but still great. Obviously Stella Luna deserves five stars, and everyone knows it. It is by far the best gelato I have ever had and I love frequenting this location but I've gone to the other locations at least once. I have loved every single flavour of wonderful gelato I have had here except one - please do yourself a favour and never get the virgin Mojito flavour. I don't know what I was thinking. It's terrible, in my humble opinion. My only problem with it is that you don't know what the flavours are per day - it would be super easy to just make an instagram post of what the daily flavours are or even an instagram story that would take 30 seconds max before opening. I could see that perhaps it isn't announced what flavours they have that day because you bring people in with the element of surprise, but it would be super handy and useful in my opinion as my family has been popping in sporadically to see if they have the sangria flavour (our absolute favourite!!) but we haven't seen it on the days that we come in for a year and a half/two years. Stopped in for some gelato on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The location is situated in an old home and is really beautifully decorated on the inside. They have many gelato flavours to choose from and you can choose multiple scoops of different flavours! They also have serve other items like espressos and lattes. A delicious gelato place. It is very popular so there are always lineups, but they move quickly and are fairly orderly. Kudos for the staff - I can't imagine how busy they must be day in and day out, hour after hour. I've been here a number of times and while they aren't ever rude, they are a tad rushed so they aren't going to chit chat with you very long.There's lots of seating but it fills up quickly. This place was bumping on a Sunday night! I had a sweet tooth craving, so my friend and I drive there at 9PM to have some dessert. Unfortunately, the dessert menu was no longer available for the late hours, so we just had gelato. I had the chili chocolate, the tiramisu and the hazelnut in one bowl. It was amazing! great quality gelato. The coconut and Ferrero rocher ones were my fav. The servings are big. I got a small and was more than satisfied. Stella Luna is by far the best ice cream shop in Ottawa. And, rightfully, it was awarded (by some unknown committee) a title of the best gelato in Canada and top 3 gelato shops in the Americas. It has an amazing selection of ice cream flavours and an equally great selection of sorbets. There is both the conventional and the more creative flavours, so there is something for everyone! Now the logistics of visiting Stella Luna ..... it's an ice cream shop, so be ready for complete madness supplemented with the most brain-piercing child screaming from every direction. I’m going to give Stella Luna 5 stars I come here often. The gelato is out of this world delicious. I will also add that the lattes are amazing here. However once and a while, especially tonight on our visit, I found the staff very rude and lazy. A couple of them were helpful but both me and my friend wanted a cup cake after our gelato and we noticed they were no longer on the shelves, 2 girls that were more interested in talking to each other told me they were out of that stuff 2 min later a girl came out with a plate with cupcakes on it, I asked if I could purchase one and she said I could. Then my friend came up 5 min later and asked for a cupcake and a man told her they were all out. Then she pointed to me and said, you sold her one. Then he sheepishly got one out for her. I’m sorry, but if I was the owner I’d be livid if I knew this is how the staff carried on because 45 min before closing the staff don’t want to be bothered selling cupcakes when they have them available to sell.
