What’s your interior design process?
We always start with understanding as much about the client and their needs and aspirations for the project. If we are working with an existing building, we get to know its history, opportunities and possible constraints.
We typically begin designing by drawing, laying out some of the core parts of the clients brief whilst considering the look and feel of the space and the built form. We'll be thinking about the functionality of the proposals and making sure to focus on the clients top priorities. Environmental and sustainability issues are considered concurrently where possible especially if they are important to the client.
We bring this architectural focus together with 3d sketches or photoshopped views, material samples and reference images to convey to the client the intention of the proposals.
It is important that our clients come to the project with a readiness to be part of the design process in both a personal and professional way. We will not have all the answers and there is no one solution for any situation. The process is the design - we help our clients explore and navigate that process to create a finished project that will undoubtedly be beyond their expectations.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
We believe that design should reflect contemporary life whilst understanding relevant heritage and looking forward. In that way we tend to cater for modern tastes. However as we understand the value of heritage often we look at emulating more traditional styles but interpreting them in a contemporary way. We believe buildings, places and spaces should feel crafted and exploit the benefits that quality materials and simple considered details bring to every day life.
What do you love most about your job?
Each and every day and each and every detail is different. Conceiving of and constructing a building of any kind is a wonder...and it is a wonder that will last.
