I went to St. Andrews Rehabilitation Therapies three times a week for four months following a knee surgery. Bernie is extremely professional, knowledgeable and was very accommodating of my schedule. Having been let down by other physios in the town of St. Andrews I cannot recommend S.A.R.T. highly enough. Top notch physio and top knotch guy. 10/10. More...

I have been going to Bernie for several years and he is one of the best rehabilitation therapist's I have gone to after several injuries sustained while playing ice hockey and golf. Bernie is extremely knowledgable about his craft and always provides a clear and concise understanding of the treatment he is giving you and why he is using certain methods. Bernie also provides exercises and stretches for the individual to take home with them in order to support the treatment and healing process. I highly recommend Bernie for any and all rehabilitation therapies! More...

Was in St Andrews for trip of lifetime. Was suffering from backpain which I attributed to my right hip which I had replaced 15 years ago. Used to be a 4 HDCP, now a 12 in less than a yr! With that said, I sched a session with Bernie. Assumed it would be typical 60 min deep tissue massage. It was anything but. He approached it like an MD. Asked for overview of issues. My thoughts on root cause. Then he performed a series of tests and pointed out that the issue was not my right hip/side, but I had almost no flexibility in left hip/side. Thus I was putting more stress on RT side, was not turning properly, thus was now cutting and losing ball to the right (soft fade, not slice). Spot on. He reco'd when I return home to have left side x-rayed, gave me exercises to strengthen the core and left side. He proceeded to do deep tissue massage and worked out kinks. All in 60 minutes and fair price. I was able to play 3 more rounds and birdied 18 of the Old Course. Really professional guy. More...

My 8 year old daughter was struggling with hip pain resulting in her needing to use 2 crutches as she was struggling to walk. After rubbish support from the NHS, we decided to look for someone privately and found Bernie. He was absolutely fantastic with my daughter, getting the balance between encouraging, fun and challenging just right. He was fantastic with her every step of the way and I really believe if it wasn't for his time, enthusiasm and encouragement she may still be on crutches. He gave her interesting and fun exercises to do, helped motivator her and challenged her. All the time making it fun and keeping it interesting. We as a family will always be very grateful to Bernie for the fantastic job he did treating Olivia. I couldn't recommend him enough. More...

My Mother was suffering from agonising sciatica, so intense that she was unable to sleep and felt sick with the pain. On visiting her doctor she was advised to take painkillers and await an NHS appointment with a physiotherapist which would take approx 4 months, after a week of horrendous pain I decided I could not let my Poor Mum carry on without at least trying to improve her condition so I decided to look for a private physiotherapist in our area (Dundee). The only Physio with any reviews (all good ones) was START in St. Andrews I was slightly unsure as the other reviews were sports related injuries and my Mum's was not but as soon as we met Bernie he put my Mum at ease immediately , he had a very good manner and even managed to make her laugh, he asked various questions, massaged/manipulated the areas concerned and gave her exercises to do at home to improve and strengthen her muscles, that was a week ago and since then she has seen a dramatic improvement to her condition. We can't praise Bernie highly enough! If you need a physiotherapist, he is the one to see! More...

Twice now I've gone to START with fairly serious injuries that had come about through distance running. On both occasions I went fairly resigned to having to give up my sport and on both occasions I was amazed. Within a very short time not only had the problem been pinpointed but i'd been given the necessary stretches to relieve pain and been shown how to fix the bio-mechanical issues that were the cause of the initial problems.I honestly cannot thank them enough, not just for showing me how to fix my issues but also for giving me peace of mind that what I thought were potentially permanent problems arose from easily curable imbalances. On top of all this they are friendly and welcoming so i wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend them. Bernie's an excellent physio. He not only knows his stuff; he really listens. I've been to many physios for on-going knee problems and Bernie's the best. He doesn't just find the usual solution to the most common problem. Going to him has really helped. Definitely reccommended! More...

Having dislocating my ankle playing korfball and having the opportunity to play european hockey only 7 weeks later, I needed extensive physio to ensure that I could play. START gave me the treatment necessary along with exercises to do personally in order for me to achieve this goal. Without this regular professional support I may not have been able to play. I would recommend the START clinic to anyone that has a similar sporting injury. More...

After suffering an hip injury at a football tournament, I was unable to play for several months. I saw a doctor, who advised me to simply rest it out for a prolonged period. However, I decided to consult the physiotherapist at St Andrews Rehabilitation Therapies (START) to get a second opinion. From the very beginning I saw the coherent expertise and professionalism at the centre, and was able to receive a set of exercises to build strength, and at the same time stretch the injured area. These excercises helped me enormously, I am now able to play football again with no limitations from the injury. I strongly recommend to visit the St Andrews Rehabilitation Therapies (START) if you have any injuries or issues with movements. More...
