The Dueling Pianos are an absolute must! We had them play at a dinner function - 106 women (plus a few men) from Sydney Australia enjoying a night out in St Louis. They did not disappoint. Spanky's did my wedding over the past weekend. We had an absolutely amazing time! They catered to everyone's musical taste. If they were unsure of how to play a song they looked it up and then rocked it a couple of minutes later. Dueling Pianos did an amazing job at our daughter's wedding! In addition to playing and singing for 3 hours straight, with NO breaks, they also introduced the wedding party, played background recorded music during dinner, and made announcements. They were able to sing the song that the bride and groom chose for their first dance, and did it so well that most people took a minute to realize it was being sung live! They took requests all evening, and we never had an empty dance floor because of their energy! And the talent...! Singing, playing piano, beatboxing, "drumming", and even harmonica! I was a little worried because our venue was fairly small and packed with people, and the space allotted for the entertainment was just a small corner to one side of the head table. But the guys were able to roll right through a small path during cocktail hour to set everything up with no problems. They were very professional, and our guests had a great time! Highly recommend!! The interactive format of dueling pianos is perfect keeping your guests actively engaged all night long! Since we only play what you and your guests request, the result is a sing-along, clap-along, dance-along ALL NIGHT LONG good time!
How would you describe your ‘style’?
Our style is easy to sum up: FUN and PROFESSIONAL! We have performed thousands of audiences of all different types ranging from fancy, sit-down dinners hosted by the Governor to rowdy, can't-sit-down crowds at Minor and Major League Baseball games. No matter who we are performing for or what type of event we're at, you can rest assured that our musicians will keep the fun going all night long while composing themselves in a professional manner.
What do you love most about your job?
We love that we get to be part of special celebrations! Birthdays, weddings, holiday parties - it's a blast to get to share these special events with everyone! In addition, nothing is better than using our talents to help raise money for schools, community organizations, and non-profits! We are proud to say that 100% of the FUNdraisers we have done have made a profit - we have helped organizations raise up to $165,000 IN JUST ONE NIGHT!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Spanky, born Philip Manaois, was trained at Walt Disney World and has been dueling for over 15 years. He has traveled the country and overseas performing in dueling piano bars for over a decade, and has owned two piano bars in St. Louis, MO. He has also served as a consultant for the piano bar at Harrah's Casino and for Lucky's Dueling Piano Bar. Now, he’s assembled the best entertainers in the industry, and is taking DUELING PIANOS to the next level – with SPANKY ENTERTAINMENT! Spanky and his team of duelers have performed at over 300 weddings (including one celebrity wedding!), as well as countless parties, fundraisers, sporting events, and other special occasions.
When not performing, Spanky enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing organ for The Provels, and cheering for the St Louis Cardinals.
