How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Things to consider when deciding if your garage is suitable for conversion would be as follows:- Depth of foundation, wall tickness/type, roof construction, location of nearby services, the ground conditions and local authority planning guidelines
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Once the necessary consents, drawings and reports are in place, works can begin in accordance with architectural specification and structural specification.
Typically, the process would begin with ground works, followed by roof, followed by internal works to include insulation, structural floors, carpentry first fix followed by M & E first fix, followed by plaster works, carpentry and M & E second fix. At all stages works to be inspected by building control as works proceeds ro ensure compliance and final sign off.
How long have you been in business?
25+ years in the building trade. I previously worked in the South East of England for a medium sized construction company who specialised in local authority contracts. I managed contracts ranging from £2M to £5M including school extensions/refurbs, new build and extensions to Dr Surgeries. Since relocating to the South West, my wife and I set up our own Construction business and have completed some noteable projects including a Watermill and a Chapel conversion. No job is too small and I wont be beaten on price!
