We had heard great things about Aiko Aiko Sound and were so happy we chose them for our wedding. I never realized how many decisions go into the music/DJ portion of the wedding planning, and Dale helped us big time to plan this out and make it perfect. He had multiple online tools available to help with planning. During the ceremony and reception he helped everything to run smoothly and this allowed us to relax and enjoy the fun. He also made the night a blast and kept everyone entertained. He is flexible and willing to help make your vision work. We were happy we gave him a few examples of what music we liked and he worked off of that for each portion of the night, but he was also willing to play off of a list if we had preferred this route. Aiko was great! He was professional, punctual, had a great sound system and played the specific type of music I wanted. He was fun with the crowd, a great MC and a great value! Would definitely use again.

We had Dean as our wedding ceremony and reception DJ and MC. Overall, he did an amazing job setting the right mood throughout the evening and incorporating all of our song requests! (We had a killer dance party!) He also added a couple of personal touches that we felt really added to the experience and made it unique. The ONLY reason we are giving him 4 instead of 5 stars is that there were some technical difficulties with microphones throughout the evening that were a bit frustrating. Overall, this took very little away from the enjoyment of the event, but is still worth mentioning. Still, I would absolutely recommend Aiko Aiko Sound and Dean to anyone looking for a DJ in the Durango area! More...

Aiko Aiko Sound did and outstanding job at our wedding in Telluride, CO!! :) We met Dale and Dean prior to signing our contract and they are both very professional and we thoroughly enjoyed everything that they had to say about their experiences. They put us at ease about any wedding reception anxieties and Dean was the perfect DJ for our wedding! We had a couple changes in songs a couple days before the wedding and a few during our wedding reception and Dean incorporated all of our requests! We also had sort of crazy mixes of songs for both the 1st dance and the father daughter dance...Dean timed both, so that everything that night went perfectly :) Dean also saved the day when we couldn't find the toss bouquet...it was an extra special request, because I wanted the flowers to split apart when I threw them...anyway, Dean helped find a bouquet and helped cut the tie, so it worked just as I wanted!! Aiko Aiko did a great job for our reception at Tomboy. We worked with Dale in the initial stages and then his brother, Dean, was the DJ for the event. They were very accommodating with requested music for father dances, etc - even trimming down the song when needed. He read the crowd well and all of our guests had a great time! I used Aiko Aiko Sound for all of the music for my Telluride, CO wedding. In addition to being a great value (especially compared to other bids I received), Dale was incredibly responsive for the planning portion and Ben was a stellar DJ. I had one conference call with Ben prior to my wedding. He was the music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, drinks/dancing for the night, which was in three different locations (at the same resort). He did a great job of moving between spaces seemlessly. On our call prior to the wedding, I gave some rough guidelines on what I wanted to hear/not hear for each segment of the night. Ben did a great job interpreting and had one of the best cross sections of music for the 'drinks/dancing' portion of the night that I've ever heard at a wedding. I wanted to make sure that the music was upbeat but my parents/aunts/uncles/guests of all ages would still want to dance. He hit the nail on the head! The only advice I'd give another bride is to skip the uplighting...it's just colored, strobe-like lighting that I actually did not care for. We were planning a long-distance wedding so it was tough trying to decide on vendors. All we had to go on were from online reviews and websites.
Our initial phone call with the owner went really well and he sounded reassuring and seemed to understand our needs. We sent him a deposit via PayPal within the week, which included a travel charge. However, it was really difficult getting ahold of him for the next several months. It took numerous tries of pestering via e-mail and phone to get him to send us a signed contract back, give us ideas, status, etc. We were finally able to meet him a couple weeks before the event, even though he wasn't certain who on his staff would be our DJ, but thankfully he came exuded as much reassurance as in our initial conversation.
On the wedding day, Aiko Aiko Sound definitely delivered. We found out only a couple days beforehand that our DJ would be John, and I was relieved that he was very good at returning my phone calls and following up with me to discuss the event. When I finally met him at the reception, I knew we were in EXCELLENT hands. He was very professional and played the songs we had on our list plus several others that were in the same vein. He timed everything well and knew how to read the crowd. Whenever he had a question, he sought me out in the most unintrusive manner (we didn't have a wedding coordinator).
The only minor nitpick of the day was that the microphone kept cutting in and out, and it was most noticeable during the toasts. However, John was the consummate announcer and had the type of voice you'd want for a fun wedding reception - he got my PARENTS dancing, and they NEVER dance!
No issues with the final payment, which was due within 30 days after the event (again, Paypal).
