I was hoping this review would become unnecessary and the owner would fulfill her assurances and promises, however that has not been the case.
I purchased Laker from the Southernwind Kennels for $2,500 and picked him up on 04 March 2021. After reviewing the contract, the clause which stated I had 72 hours from receipt of the puppy to have him examined for any illnesses or injuries concerned me because I could not get a appointment with any veterinarian clinic in the surrounding Tampa area within 10-14 days. I contacted the owner and informed her of my concern for the limited number of days provided in the contract to accomplish this. She assured me the puppy had received a health certificate just days before I was to pick him up which found him completely healthy. Other kennels in the area provide up to 10 days. I trusted her word and proceeded with the delivery plan meeting her business associate at her home on the 4th of March.The owner was out of town and informed me she could not complete the delivery herself. I received the health certificate, copy of the contract, micro chip tags, and 4 white pills not known at the time to be Metodinazole, incase of diarrhea. Missing from the documents I received was AKC papers. Her business associate informed me they would be mailed to me at a later date.
After getting the puppy home the next day (5th of March) he began to show signs of diarrhea and lost of appetite. I gave him the pills I was provided to see if they would help. Later that day at 2:10 pm I contacted the owners business associate by text expressing my concerns. I contacted her once again on the 6 March at 2:40 pm informing her I had just spoon feed him because he would not eat any other way. "She replied Good! Keep me posted."
On the 10th of March I took Laker to the Fetch animal clinic emergency room due to his severe diarrhea and lost of appetite. Testing concluded he was positive for Giardia, Hookworms, moderate cystoisospora, and moderate oocysts. My total veterinarian bill to include follow-up with my primary veterinarian approached $450.00. On the 31st of March I contacted the owner by email with regards to the AKC papers and health problems experienced immediately after getting the puppy home and received the following about the AKC papers "The mothers papers had been misplaced when doing some arrangements in the house and had to send for a duplicate certificate, which is already on the way". " I will surely send the AKC papers immediately " "No worries on this you will have your papers guaranteed" I've yet to receive AKC papers. Additionally, in the same email message with regards to the medicines Panacur, and Metodinazole I received for the puppy's emergency room treatment the owner states "Just to be fair I'll cover the medicines Panacur and Metodinazole cost", let me know if you have pay pal or zelle. I made my $500 deposit to the owner with my pay pal account. I received no reimbursement for either medication. Our puppy has another follow-up next week to confirm the Giardia has been eliminated, and we hope he'll receive a clean bill of health. If you had a good experience with your puppy received from Southernwind Kennels I'm happy for you. I only wish I had the same and will continue to pursue my AKC papers promised.

We recently purchased a Belgian Malinois from Southern Winds Kennel. After making our deposit we received constant updates and pictures of the puppies. When we went to pick out Karma we were impressed with the kennel as well as how helpful and patient the staff was with our taking 2 hours to pick her out. We have had Karma for a week now and are extremely happy with her. Our vet examined her and she was perfect with a clean bill of health! Where can i begin . Got my husband a malinois and this experience has been amazing .The quality of dogs is the best i ever seen . The training is beyond what i expected. I could not be more satisfied with my decision in doing business with this company and feel like 5/5 stars does not do it justice. I am not a big reviewer but, because of the extremely high level of service, I will write one here.Facilities and environment at Southerwind were clean and organized with lots of space for activities. Everyone I met genuinely cared and loved the dogs they were working with. They really go above and beyond and it has become clear to me that, similar to inspired writers or musicians, this company takes much more pride in the professionalism and expertise involved in raising and breeding dogs than they do in simply making higher profits running a business.Cecilia spent hours with me discussing the selection of my puppy and has continued to make herself available to answer my (likely annoying) additional questions in the months since I've brought my puppy home. Her advice has been fantastic and her depth of knowledge on dogs is frankly outrageous.We have a female German Shepherd and her temperament is perfect. She has been easy to socialize with people and animals and quickly adopted loving mannerisms toward both my wife and myself. From first bringing her home she eagerly learns whatever we teach her, loves to please and of course has the standard "protective" instincts of a great GSD, but also completely relies on reading our body language and will immediately relax if we show no concern.The price point of this place is competitive with disgusting "puppy mills" and I would strongly recommend that you consider supporting people who are in the business of pouring love into animals like this and then setting them out in the world to improve all the families and lives that they touch. Southernwind is by far the best kennel I have been to. Ceci has a wonderful breeding program. Puppies are whelped and raised in her home, extremely well socialized, exposed to every kind of noise and distraction to ensure they are stable not skittish in new environments, and they have started on training before they ever leave. She knows their personalities so well to select each one for the right purpose to the right families.Responsible breeding, impeccable dogs, and a wonderful training area. Cecilia and Southernwind show just how much they care about their dogs; not just through words, but through action. From the first time we spoke, she was very clear and up front about everything I needed to know, and she was open to hearing what I was looking for as well as committed to doing the best she could to provide that match. Her farm is spacious and clean with ample room, including a training yard out front. Finally, the puppies themselves were glorious. We've had our boy home for three days now and he has been everything I could have hoped for—and more. Our vet gave him a clean bill of health right away and remarked at what an outstanding, good looking dog he was. If you are a dog owner, you can buy from her with confidence. Here are some of the reasons: * She is not interested in your money, but in whether you are a good match for the dog and will take proper care of it. She will not sell to just anybody who's willing to pay. * If Cecilia doesn't like a dog's temperament, no matter how outstanding it might be physically, she won't breed the dog. * Cecilia doesn't try to sell you a dog that doesn't match what you are looking for and your lifestyle. She goes out of the way to try to please people, to ensure both the person and dog will benefit from the adoption. * The Southernwind dogs are in pastures instead of confined to tiny spaces as some breeders do, and they are all with others. So the health of the dogs is much better. * Cecilia uses natural products to keep the fleas and ticks off the property, and she keeps the grounds clean. Its been over 2 yrs since I met Ceci and picked up my "little man" Max at 8 weeks old. I was very impressed with how helpful Ceci was, and still continues to be today. Little Max went to puppy school and aced everything. He is now 130 lbs with a heart just as big. Everyone from friends, the groomer and Vet are impressed with his temperament and behavior. But don't let his awesome disposition fool you! He is very protective of the property and especially the family. NO ONE is allowed in unless we say they are welcomed. Once you're welcomed in then you're treated as a friend. I'll be definitely seeing Ceci for another addition to the family very soon. Amazing buying experience with Southernwind Kennels. The breeder I purchased from had a very clean facility and home. Every aspect of the purchase was wonderful. I love having my German Shepherd and would highly recommend others purchase Southernwind dogs. The puppy I purchased was lovingly cared for, was given her first puppy shot and dewormed, she was very well socialized having received individualized attention every day.
