I recently attended a 2 day reactive dog workshop with southern pet services, with my reactive dog, and found the course to be 1 of the most beneficial things I have done, which is helping me unravel my dogs reactivity issues. The knowledge I gained in the workshop continues to benefit us, and a new path is unfolding before us, as I now understand my dog in a way I just wasn’t seeing before! I now have a much clearer understanding of how to spot her thresholds, and how, what I considered normal, was actually her indicating her stress levels to me. I now pay much closer attention to her body language, and using the techniques taught over the workshop, I can see my dogs confidence growing. And we are both just so much closer, and happier! The venue was super secure, with no concerns that any of the dogs would be put in an unsafe situation. The behaviourists are just awesome. The best trainers. My Doberman has been with them for a year with a mix between day care and training. He was very difficult when we first got him and it took a while because he had a difficult past, but he is a completely different dog now. He wasn’t affectionate with me and he was so stressful to have around. He now is the soppiest dog I know, completely relaxed at home and is obedient with no issues with recall. He previously was rough with dogs and they taught him to play with dogs but in a nice manner. Now I’m amazed when I walk him with other dogs because he so good with all dogs. The breed needs continuous stimulation and reinforcement and Gav has been so good at recognising his needs and never judging him. I love the fact that my dog cannot wait for his training session with him as it is clear that he has a strong bond and enjoys being trained. There are day care centres that don’t understand the Doberman breed and the boundaries they need especially at this young age. This breed cannot be left to get on with it because they are too intelligent and we have to recognise their needs. We met Gavin for the first time today and all I can say is WOW he really knows his stuff. A brilliant first training session with our dog Rio, he gave us lots to think about and do until the next time, Rio is a happy worn out pooch today and we are hopeful he will come on in leaps and bounds from now on, thanks Gavin so glad we came across you :-)

Gav and his team are just brilliant. I've really enjoyed puppy school and learning how to communicate with my very lively husky. And even more important they've helped me develop the skills to be able to guide Beau in acceptable behaviour towards children and small dogs. So Laila our puppy (or not so much of a puppy anymore) is nearly a year old and I thought it was about time I gave SPS a review!
We met Gav just after we decided to get a Dalmatian puppy and arranged that we would have puppy visits to begin with and then day care, as we work full time.
Gav had arranged that night for us to meet Han as she covers our area and would be having Laila and right from day one we were happy with our choice.
Both Gav and Han genuinely care about the dogs in their care and Laila has grown into a lovely, confident and well socialised dog. Everybody loves her and she loves everyone she meets. The best part is we return home from work to a tired and happy dog.
Laila goes into care on different days each week and I have no worries in leaving her in the morning knowing that shortly after she will be collected and have a great day.
We have also used SPS for training classes, agility and dog boarding and I cannot fault them at all.
I feel like she is apart of their family and I thank them for contributing to the cracking dog we have today.
Laila truly loves you guys.
Massive thanks for the past year and we all look forward to the future.

Gavin is brilliant with the dogs and makes it fun for all including us adults. We have learned so much attending the puppy classes. Bailey our Cocker Spaniel has loved the fun friendly atmosphere whilst learning various exercises demonstrated by Gavin. We are now enjoying Bailey so much more understanding his needs and Bailey is much more understanding of what behaviour we expect from him. Just want to thank Gav, Janette & their team for the support and training they have given us since February. People think German shepherds are hard wired to be ultra trainable and yes they pick up on training quickly but without the time and advice given by Gav and the team I wouldn't have been able to come up with the training ideas or general 'don't worry, you're doing great', reassurance to keep us on track. . Loki the beagle loves going to day care to play with all his friends. We started with basic puppy training to get him socialised and to learn basic training from there we have completed our bronze and silver award. As soon as we walk up the road to training Loki gets very excited to see Gavin and the team. We are now doing a trick training course which is great fun and makes Loki think which means a tired dog for the rest of the day! I would recommend the team to any one. More...

Can't recommend Southern Pet Services enough, we used their behavioural service after we rescued our dog from Cyprus. Jeannette was friendly, professional, kind and positive. We were left with a better understanding of our new dog and tools to deal with his reactivity and stress. 5 weeks later and we're getting compliments on how calm and relaxed Diego is. We also work in the pet services field so are very picky on any dog service we use so a 5 star review means a big thumbs up from us and we're also looking forward to more interactions with Southern Pet Services More...

Amazing people that have worked their magic on our puppy. He attends puppy class on a Saturday which has been amazing to train him. He also spends a morning every week with Jeanette to help him with socialisation. It’s really worked wonders for his confidence and all their advice has been proved right.

My four dogs stayed at Southern Pet Services for daycare for four days. I knew the service would be excellent because Gavin, Jeanette and team are ethical trainers who know what they're doing. I was delighted to receive photos part way through my mini break of all the dogs looking happy and having fun. I couldn't have entrusted my dogs to any other company/people and it allowed me to relax, knowing they were being well looked after, receiving plenty of enrichment and new experiences, and being well cared for. Southern Pet Services are great. I attended Bronze Award class with my frustrated greeter Doberman, they were very accommodating

We have been using Gavin & Jeanette at Southern Pet Services for a while now. They have gone to great lengths to get to know our dog's and have been very flexible with having him at short notice. Gavin has helped us a great deal in terms of training and socialisation as well, and our dog Diesel is a lot better behaved and can now be socialised with all sorts of dogs.
