The aims of the Programme is to ensure dancers have the opportunity of becoming a versatile performer, with knowledge of the body and its health.

So pleased we found SEDA. Joined just over a year ago not long after moving into wombourne. It can be hard for shy 12 year olds to begin a new club . However as soon as we walked in my daughter settled in right away and has never looked back. Besides being an amazing dancer , Sophie has a special gift with children from tots to teens . They absolutely love her because she connects with every single one of them . It doesn’t matter what the child’s ability , she manages to get the very best out of them and always encourages rather than criticising. Theres no pushy parents here either , it’s like a family. Kids love going to street dance, Sophie is a marvellous teacher who spend time getting to know the children and adults, she’s happy to have my son in classes although he’s a complicated medical condition, nothing is to much trouble for her, so glad we found such a great group.

I left a review exactly 1 years ago..we had only been apart of the SEDA family a few months.. over the year Miss Sophie and I have become close helping out where I can with costumes and some lessons.
. im now the SEDA official child chaperone. I love to interact with parents and I believe I have gained some great friends. Miss Sophie., the kids (and young adults) you teach are a credit to you and your hard work, along side the kids applying their creativity to your routines . Those who have had the confidence to put a routine together have had the encouragement from you to do so.. I have seen a few students completely transform under your direction,strong will and determination (or blood sweat and tears🤭)
In November you saw your contemporary team become winners of the Audacity general dance..
Also placing high in solo contemporary.
Your street quads and teams also placing high..
I have never been so proud.

Yes I have a daughter in SEDA . She has been a dancer for over 8 years now. Before joining SEDA she had been trained in ballet, Tap, musical comedy/Lyrical. She wanted to extend her knowledge to contemporary and street. And boy am I glad I found this group.
She still trains with her other dance company (shows and Exams)
Sophie has pushed my daughter to her limits in areas the other company doesn't (competition and choreography) and the mass improvement seen is beyond belief. Going from competing placing 6th to six months later being champion. I think that in itself says a lot about SEDA and Miss Sophie.

I haven't been with SEDA long but it is an AMAZING dance school. Since i have been with SEDA i have improved massively at dance. I really recommend it as the atmosphere is amazing and Sophie is a brilliant dance teacher and the group is really supporting and helps you with anything you are stuck or confused on. My daughter has been at Sophie's dance academy now for around six months. Over that time she has really built up her confidence in dancing as well as her overall confidence.
She also appeared in her first show which we all attended. She absolutely loved it and has made some great new friends.

What do you love most about your job?
The impact on changing lives through a simple class. Once I have an understanding of a person within the Academy, I can deliver the correct training and support for that individual.
We believe that individuality and uniqueness is key. Do not feel you have to change your views and beliefs due to other influences.
There is nothing more satisfying than being "a friend" "a teacher" "a role model" "a mentor" "a counsellor". I do not turn up to lessons and blank out the person for their ability, their person is their talent and entire structure. Understand the person, understand the growth and allow them to move at their own pace. Not to be forced and disheartened with themselves.
Every time I walk out from these lessons, I feel happy, strong and believe that the children and adults walk away from the lessons with a sense of fulfilment and achievement.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After completing my University Degree in London, it changed my entire perception of dance.
Growing up, my sessions were tough in training with various schools, I always felt undervalued and was never good enough, even though I achieved high in competitions. There was too much negativity around my performances and constantly having to change my posture or execution of the movements because it was deemed as "wrong".
After attending University with this attitude, I came across a lot of others like me, who lacked in confidence. But with the correct coaching and the history of dance and the "breaking of the norm", I fell in Love with the idea to move back and share what I had learnt with others.
The feedback I have had from parents has only been positive, including the repore I have with the students and yet achieve results with them because of their respect for my teaching methods. It is a gradual journey which should not be forced but to explore fully. Having a new outlook and mental attitude has really aided my passion and attention to important details.
Why should our clients choose you?
Our classes are structured enough to be adaptable to each student. We do not have compulsory uniforms, competitions and showcases.
We leave the choice to you and your children.
We provide a safe haven for children with out #BeatTheBully programme and stand firmly together on individuality.
There is no right and wrong and whether you have no confidence or stacks of it, you will all be treated with the same respect and understanding, taking the time to learn in your own way to develop your skills.
Our classes are for those who want to be treated with respect and not to be a part of the team yet ignored. Stand tall, stand together.
