I am an expert in written communication. I copy edit and proofread for publishing houses, academic journals, research institutes and think tanks, and I love my job!
I do what I do because I love words, and I have a talent for crafting language – making a piece of writing succinct, elegant and grammatically correct. I am a professional-level member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), which means my training and experience have been vetted and endorsed by a panel of industry experts.
I work for a number traditional publishing houses, completing both copy editing and proofreading projects with a speciality in non-fiction humanities books. I am also interested in literary fiction and medicine and science books for a general audience.
Recent, repeat clients include:
Stanford University Press
British Film Institute
Security Dialogue journal
Overseas Development Institute (ODI)
University of London School of Advanced Study
Another key area of my work is the editing I do for international research institutes and think tanks, focussing on international development. My work with European-based organizations has led to my being recommended to partner institutes in the developing world, and as a result I have undertaken a lot of work copy editing reports written by researchers for whom English is a second language. I really value the opportunity to make a contribution to issues I care about, by ensuring the important work of researchers is communicated effectively, elegantly, accurately and with impact.
