What makes a great website?
A great website is one that is consistent with clean semantic coding and design. Design plays a big part in whether or not the website will rank well on search engines, as well as if a potential client or customer will want to use a service. The adage is true. We do just books by their covers! Having a well-designed website that flows well with great fonts and imagery and engages potential clients immediately is key to securing the highest rankings of the website. Having the images fully optimized and including focused keywords which help bring new customers is critical. If a website is lacking in any component, such as an SSL certificate (required now by Google), proper SEO tagging, including image and video tagging, and of course well-chosen words and paragraphs, the website will not be able to be ranked on the first page of searches.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
My first question is always what do they hope to accomplish with their website. Are they looking to share information, get a prospective customer to take an action, such as buy a product? Do they want to increase their branding and have everyone recognize their name? Once I have these questions answered, I can usually move on to the other questions such as: do you want to have a store online? Do you want to build a customer email list? What types of fonts and colors would your buyers be drawn to? Etcetera.
What do you love most about your job?
I love creating designs and functionality which help businesses to thrive. I'm am emerging technology nerd and I actually get excited when a software or piece of hardware gets released that I feel with help better man and womankind. I also consider myself a bit of a rare breed since most developers/designers are shy and introverted; I'm very much a people person.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was a small business owner a decade ago and I needed to have a website. It was in the infancy of the tech boom. I started learning for my own edification and then I was hooked. I enjoy well designed and well-built websites and mobile apps, as well as all that I get to create for social media management now, too!
Why should our clients choose you?
Clients are very important to me. It's important for me to give them a final product that I'm not only proud of but the client is as well. I'm worked hard over the years to hone my skill set in not just design and development, but also in content writing and social media management. I believe in what I'm doing and I have a lot of fun doing it. I think that those tenets alone come across in, not only my work, but my dealing with each and every client.
