Simon is absolutely fantastic. He came and helped us with one of our dogs. He was very polite, helpful, did not rush in fact he stayed longer than our appointment was for to ensure we understood our plan for our little boy. Definitely knows his stuff and we are already seeing great differences in our dogs behaviour. I have no issues in highly recommending Simon and if you're teetering on the edge about whether or not to get some help and advice I'd recommend you give him a call. We're looking forward to continuing with our plan. Thanks again. More...

Simon is a very approachable and knowledgeable trainer who worked with my two elderly english setters rescued from Spain .
He was patient , held the dogs attention well and achieved some great results with them despite it being the hottest day of the year. I have already recommended SImon to a number of friends and look forward to working with him further on recall with my deaf dog .

I genuinely can't rate Si highly enough. I've had such great support from Sociable Dog over the years with both my own rescue greyhound and a number of challenging sighthounds that I have been working with in rescue. His advice is always easy to understand and follow (so important if people are going to stick to it!) and most importantly, kind to dogs and their guardians. He'll break things down for you, cheerlead you when your motivation is low and remind you of all the good things you've achieved if you are feeling more of the troughs than peaks! Through Si at Sociable Dog, I've learnt that progress is always possible when it comes to changing challenging dog behaviour and sometimes this far exceeds even my expectations! If you feel like it can't be done... there's no hope for your dog... give him a shout. He'll help you to see things a bit differently :) More...

Sociable dog have given me huge amounts of support and confidence to work through the challenges I've experienced with my dog-reactive rescue greyhound, Moose. Si is just a brilliant guy who is super kind to dogs and just a lovely guy to work with. You'll get no judgements, no blaming, just a whole load of knowledge and skills, and confidence that you didn't know you possessed! I was lost and feeling hopeless and overwhelmed when I first encountered Sociable Dog. Yet it is thanks to their support and cheerleading, that I have now embarked on my own work to help others who have adopted challenging ex racers. If you feel like no-one can help you and your dog, give Si a call. He'll tell you than no dog is beyond help and show you that progress is always possible ... :) More...

Simon has been my dog angel. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what he does and how to achieve the best for your dog and you. He is very easy to work with both for the dogs and humans.
I am not a particularly experienced dog owner who took on a rescue dog from Romania with little information about her. She had few skills other than a willingness to learn and please, but also has some unpredictable issues and with Simons help we are starting to address them. He has been so supportive to us all -with e mails, you tube clips, information, recommendations about appropriate equipment and articles to read to help us understand. Not to mention a lot of much needed support and kind words. Which can not be understated how important they are when you feel like you are struggling.
We paid for the initial one to one session where we got lots of practical training with the understanding behind why this way works. I loved the fact no dog chooses to get scared any more than we do but we can all learn how to deal with it better. A journey for all of us in life. The session was definitely value for money.
we have all improved and made good steps forward and that’s all credit to Simon.

Si came to us to show us how to tackle a few minor issues with our two 'kids'. Si was very professional and encouraging. So patient and we (and the kids) felt very comfortable in his company . Si had a wonderful kind approach with us all!! Feeling so much happier since Si gave us all some training. We are confident that with time we will achieve the outcome we desire. We cannot thank him enough. Highly recommend Si as we think it would be difficult to find anyone better. Thank you Si it was an absolute pleasure. More...

Thank you Ange and Lee I had a great time meeting you and the team. You will all rock it I'm sure. Give the kids a big fuss from me. Si

Simon W from Sociable Dog responded to our request for help to get our 4+ year old, 11.5 Stone Newfoundland dog to climb the steps into the back of our 4x4 vehicle; something he had been able to do in the past but suddenly decided not to causing us great inconvenience. Simon was quickly able to identify the problem as a behaviour issue and not one of fear or health. Within a very short period of time he had the dog racing up and down the steps with great enthusiasm. We were seriously impressed, and recognised Simon as a real expert in the management of dog behaviour and thoroughly recommended him to anyone who is looking for help with their dog. Thank you. Bruno had a few behaviours that we were struggling with, so we sought help from Simon. From talking to him on the phone, I knew I had done the right thing, Simon filled me with confidence that Bruno's behaviour wasn't as big a challenge as I feared. Straight away he gave me some pointers and then spent three hours with myself my partner and Bruno, talking us through ways to challenge his over excited behaviour. He was fantastic, Bruno was very sad to see him go and we were keen to implement some of these techniques. I would highly recommend sociable dog, in fact I already have and will continue to do so, excellent!! More...

Thank you Team Bruno. It was a real pleasure to meet you all. Bruno has landed on his, very large, paws that's for sure.

100% recommended! My little darling has some issues, but Simon has so much patience and is calm and extremely knowledgeable. Both myself and my Jazz had complete trust in him from the off, and Simon has proved his methods work - and they are kind, positive methods. Jazzy is soooo much calmer I have so much more understanding and confidence in how to continue in her outstanding progress . Jazz is now teaching me all that Simon has taught her! she really has come so far and I can't thank Simon enough 😊 More...

I have worked with Si at sociable dog for quite sometime now and I must say I’m very impressed.
The love of dogs that Si has is plain to see and this comes through in his training .
Training methods are explained in an easily understable way,and always have a back ground explanation as to why they work and what you can expect to gain from them.
Since working with Sociable Dog my confidence around my dog has grown and I have begun to enjoy my dog and the time that I spend with him immensely.
If your willing to put the work in I can assure you that Si at Sociable Dog will show you how to make great progress.
Give Sociable Dog a call you will not be disappointed.

Got a 4 yr old, ex-rescue, Shepherd who loves "bouncing" other dogs - even if it's intended in a friendly way?

Other owners startled and unamused?

Always having to apologise and pour oil on troubled waters?

Simon will show you how to fix it. We know it.

Q&A

At Sociable Dog we believe that dog training is about helping people and dogs with their very important relationship. We are specialists in dealing with behaviour problems in a way that is kind to both dogs and people. The "aha" moment that our clients experience when they discover what really changes behaviour and that they can accomplish more than they imagined; that's priceless!

We started Sociable Dog because I found it difficult to find the right kind of help for my rescue Rottweiler, Thomson. He had a tough start to life, was aggressive towards dogs and people and had been returned to the rescue three times before he came to me. I felt I simply couldn't give up on him despite some difficult times. I was his last chance saloon but finding the right help was difficult fifteen years ago when he and I got together. I was going to have to deal with his many issues myself, but needed to find an approach that was ethically sound and kind to both of us. That need took me to The Academy for Dog Trainers which gave me the understanding of animal behaviour science that I needed to make a real impact on Thomson's life for the better.
Although Thomson left us some time ago now I still give him the credit for where I am now and, ultimately, for the existence of Sociable Dog.

Your dog is a much loved member of your family, so it is important to get the right training and advice. That matters whether you are looking for some basic manners training, or have a bigger problem like aggression towards other dogs or people. My qualifications, transparency in application and my track record of happy and contented owners and dogs, can give you the confidence that your dog is safe in our hands.
