About

Slapton Manor is a quintessential English gem located in rural Northamptonshire.

The Smith family have been farming at Slapton Manor for 4 generations, in fact since 1924, and still going strong today.
Alongside our farm we offer en-suite accommodation studios beautifully converted from traditional cow byres and stables.

1 Location 1.1 Good location for Silverstone Circuit (20 minutes, c 7 miles by the time you have traveled round the circuit to the pits) I stayed for 4 nights while testing and racing. 1.2 I having previously stayed at the Silverstone Golf Club (about 1mile from the circuit) it has similar but recently built new economy accommodation, a bar and restaurant. I definitely prefer Slapton Manor. 1.3 Slapton Manor is in a good setting with lovey countryside, trees and fields. 2 Parking 2.1 There is plenty of space to park cars and turn even with a car trailer. 2.2 The location is out of the way and quite. 3 Room - No 3 3.1 The room was a good size with soft seating for 2 and coffee table, a table and chair which would work well with a laptop as well as the double bed, though I wasn’t with my wife, but our son joined me at the last minute for a night. 3.2 Its nice to have cooking and storage facilities to make a meal in the room.. Barbara and Sam were delightful to deal with making the booking. Sadly, following that long spell of gorgeous weather, I arrived in a steady, drenching drizzle. The room I had was exceptionally large and very comfortable. The continental breakfast delivered on the evening before was a little carbohydrate heavy, shall be say, but fresh. I was delighted to find a jar of fresh coffee in the fridge, but sadly no means of making it (didn't want to go troubling anyone at 7.30am so resorted to the instant).||Set in a delightful corner of Northamptonshire, it really is a bit of a rural idyll. Unfortunately, building work (seemingly to increase the facilities) was going on but I'm sure it will result in even better facilities.||I'd be very happy to return. More...

A slice of Utopia in the countryside. The Smith family, Barbara, Sam and Rob, welcome you just like part of the family, to their family home ! The little rural village of Slapton and nearby Abthorpe are hidden gems, with the ancient church of St Botolph right next door. Whether for a family break or a base to explore the area, you should not be disappointed. Quite a contrast to the nearby Silverstone circuit, and don’t forget to call in for excellent real ale and delightful food at the New Inn in Abthorpe, a short walk across the fields. Don’t hesitate ! The venue is lovely and the rooms are spacious and clean and the staff are hard working, it was a perfect venue for our daughter's wedding, thank you. I was surprised not to have a hair dryer provided but it wasn't a problem. I was very disappointed by the post wedding breakfast - they didn't cater for dietary requirements and I had to provide my own bread and then pay £12 for 3 rashers of bacon, half a dozen grapes and 4 strawberries - I couldn't eat anything else offered and I finished the small fruit (didn't fancy apples or oranges given the number of wasps wanting to share). My husband and the rest of our party found the breakfast tasty but considering that you'd pay only a little extra at a fairly decent bistro for a ribeye steak and all the extras I still feel that £12 for bread, yogurt, fruit, croissants, bacon and sausage is too expensive, even if you can eat it all, however to reiterate the rooms are lovely, the surrounding countryside is stunning, the owner and their staff are lovely and helpful and I would recommend and stay again, I'd just cater for myself! This was our family's second visit to Slapton Manor and once again we all agreed that it was just lovely and a great success. . We had four rooms of different sizes according to the number of grandchildren in each. Altogether we were 8 adults, 4 children and 2 babies. Everything worked beautifully, the rooms very clean and the furnishings delightful and welcoming. Since we were so many people and enjoy having our breakfast together, Barbara, wonderful and caring, arranged our continental breakfast, which was very good, in the dining room in the house. ||Slapton Manor is first and foremost an authentic working farm with a history. They are a hard working family and wonderful hosts, friendly, caring and anxious to ensure comfort and tranquility for their guests. They are delighted if you want to walk around the farm. We would never miss an opportunity to visit the cows and sheep. On this occasion we were lucky enough to be there at lambing time. ||The village of Slapton, tucked away in the fold of the beautiful countryside, is utterly charming and intimate, surrounded by many footpaths and a wonderful location if you want to get off the beaten track. I cannot fault this place. We stayed in a comfortably sized room with bathroom, kitchen amenities and t.v. We were more than happy with the cleanliness of the room and the kitchen was stocked well enough for our needs. ||I had asked for a chilled bottle of sparkling wine to be waiting for us as it was a 60th birthday treat and they even provided us with 2 champagne glasses!! ||Barbara was away selling sheep whilst we were there but her children could not have been more helpful. Its a working farm yet the girls happily put themselves at our beck and call. They were brilliant. It was Moto gp weekend and I had painstakingly organised everything except the daily transport to and from Silverstone. After asking for a taxi to be arranged I was told they were extortionately priced and that they would take us. Doing this has restored my faith in the human race! It may only have been a few miles but to go out of their way for 2 strangers was exceedingly kind. I'd like to go on about how kind the girls where but I'd only bore you!!!!||The farm was very well kept and we fell in love with the farm dogs who wandered freely around. The continental breakfast was delivered overnight in a sealed box and had more than enough in it to feed a small army!!!!! Again, exceptional!!!||You may have guessed that I fell in love with this place but I truly recommend that you give it a go and you'll soon understand what I mean. More...

I cannot fault the accommodation and would recommend slapton manor to anybody be it one trippers, on business or plainly to stay for a weekend or whole week. English hospitality is the stuff of legends, but at Slapton Manor you can experience it for yourself. Situated in the middle of the Northamptonshire countryside, this is not a farm conversion, like so many, this is a real working farm where traditional rural family welcomes are warmly extended to guests. ||The rooms are tastefully designed, well-equipped and thoughtfully furnished. Everywhere is clean. Breakfast is generous, the fridges well stocked and the beds comfortable.||To describe Barbara and her family as accommodating is an understatement - really, NOTHING is too much trouble!||... but there's more! The family own The New Inn at nearby Abthorpe as well. Not the place to go for "Cordon bleu", but for good honest pub grub and probably the best prices around, it is a good complement to a memorable stay at a traditional farmhouse in lovely surroundings. We found this gem at the last minute for a 4 night break at half term. We had a self catering studio, so cannot comment on the breakfast. But the studio was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, and the beds comfortable. Barbara kindly brought in an extra bed for our son. The shower in the wet room had good pressure and there was always hot water to shower. My only slightly negative comment would be that the kitchen could be better equipped if one wanted to cook a full meal, but as I was on holiday and had no intention of cooking, this did not affect me! The New Inn pub in the village did delicious meals at a very reasonable price. ||Slapton Manor is perfectly situated in a beautiful setting, in the lovely village of Abthorpe, close to many attractions such as Bletchley park, Stoke Bruerne, Althorpe, Northampton shoe museum etc. ||Adjoining Slapton Manor is St Botolph, a tinyn but beautiful, 13th century church with magnificent wall paintings.| More...

I absolutely loved this place. Coming from a country as young as Australia, it was quite an awe-inspiring experience to stay in such an old yet beautifully kitted out room in a traditional farmhouse, and have access to the key to the 600 year old church right next door with it's extraordinary and well-preserved frescoes still intact. It IS a farm, and it is an actively used farm so expect the general fragrance of the land and the sheep nearby(!) here and there - but I found that did nothing to detract from the overall stay. The hosts Barbara and Rob were lovely - make sure to visit the nearby New Inn which they also run - the food is delicious and the servings plentiful. The beds are very, VERY comfortable and the silence at night is wonderful. The continental breakfast was more than adequate with fresh bread and croissants, real coffee (french press), fresh milk, yoghurt, jams etc. Would/will definitely return to this beautiful property.
