We did our research and felt Sit Means Sit was the best place for our boy Tracker an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois. Tracker, while a very smart boy he is also very stubborn at times and does what Tracker wants. Our concerns were having Tracker come when called, holding sit, heeling and some aggression toward males. We had a personal consultation with Sit Means Sit Owner Kris McKenzie who listened to our concern and assured us those behaviors would be addressed through their training program. We opted for the 15-day Board & Train and are happy with the results. Tracker is a part of our family and we wouldn't just leave him with anyone, but he was well taken care of throughout his training by the caring and loving staff. During Trackers training we received pictures & videos, he was happy and engaged! We thank the entire staff for their work with Tracker, he is truly better behaved and that makes for a great relationship for us all.Of course we all must remember training isn't over for Tracker or us, Sit Means Sit gave us a great foundation to build upon and it's great knowing if we have questions or concerns the answer is a phone call away as well as weekly Group training that we can choose to attend. If you're looking for Dog Training, look no further than the professional dog training at Sit Means Sit Tampa! More...

I can't say enough good things about SMS! Everyone there is amazing. I am especially grateful for Olivia. Having a dog with aggressive tendencies can be scary. Though he's always been fabulous with me, I can't say the same when it comes to other people. It's always been disheartening to me that not everyone gets to see the amazing dog he has the potential to be. Bandit has shown kennel aggression, territorial aggression, and reactivity to other dogs (Animals in general) since he was a puppy. He's now three, and I had just given up hope that it would ever improve. Until we found SMS! Though his aggression will never go away, we are learning how to safely manage it. Olivia has been fantastic with my family, and Bandit. Bandit adores her, and so do we! She answers all our questions, and calms any fears. Though we have a lot of work still to do, I can already see so much improvement. Thank you Olivia, and everyone at Sit Means Sit! ❤️ More...

What sold me on Sit Means Sit is my Dog Sophie's reaction when I walk inside the building. She is excited to be there and eager to begin the training sessions. I am also please with her trainers Gilbert and Shea and their relationship with my dog. They ask questions, they explain and demonstrate the skills being taught repeatedly and they write detailed notes at the end of each session. This training has exceeded my expectations! More...

Can't say enough good about Sit Means Sit (Copley location) and every trainer who helped us with our dog. Zach, Taylor, and Colleen were amazing with Harvey and very patient with us! They were incredibly quick to respond when we needed help throughout the week and their suggestions were spot on. Highly recommend taking your dog to them for training - whether he's a puppy or an older dog like ours. More...

After being gone from lessons our dog is right where she was before . I can now let her leash down and she walks right next to me . This after being afraid of her own shadow early on in her life . She was running the streets of downtown San Jose . She is very gentile and all because of sit means sit training . More...

My husband and I have 5 dogs. At the time we put 4 through the program because we did not have the 5th one. My oldest dog is 12 years old with no training. I soon got 2 more dachshunds and then a German Shepherd. Being that the 3 dachshunds had no training, we knew it was irresponsible on our part to have a bigger dog that was untrained. When I dropped off my first two (German Shepherd 6 mo. & dachshund 1 yr) I told Ryan, good luck! LOL They are very energetic since they are puppies and the GS was already taking in bad habits from the little ones. Always barking, was getting on top of our counters, very reactive. Typical dog stuff. After a couple days we received videos of them walking by other dogs and no barking! I was witnessing a miracle! After 2 weeks we got them back and we saw a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT. Dogs are dogs, so of course they are still a little reactive and bark, but it's much much much MUCH EASIER to stop it! No more haggling. I say quiet and they're quiet! Especially with as many dogs as we have, we had no idea how to train them all at once. Then they took in the other two dachshunds. The 12 year old and the 5 year old who are the most spoiled. To my surprise they were very disciplined the first couple of days! The little ones always pulled on the leash and was starting to hurt my shoulder. Not anymore!! They all walk beside me with no tugging. So now my husband walks the GS while I walk the 3 dachshunds. And yes they are actually pretty good at walking all together. IT IS POSSIBLE!Now that we have another puppy, a GSD Shar Pei mix, we have him into training too. Since the other dogs are into their routine, he falls into place. We also got him a place mat, and an ecollar. Not only does this program know how to train your dog, they are also very passionate and loving about it. You can tell they love your dog like it was their own. They are also very knowledgeable about the raw food diet. I highly suggest talking to them about it. I want to say a huge thank you to Jaden and Sam too who helped make this possible! Also, being that this is basically a franchise for dog training, it was a HUGE PLUS for being in a military family. Training is every week for the lifetime of the dog, so your dog can interact with other dogs that have been through the same program. My husband and I are moving across the country due to military orders, and we don't have to worry about the dogs not socializing with other trained dogs. They have someone out there too! I hope they are just as great as Ryan, Sam, and Jaden! We are truly going to miss this little family! More...

Long overdue review! We rescued our little blue nose pitbull from the shelter in Martinez CA in 2017. He was a timid 5-6 year old boy who was clearly mistreated by his previous owners and as a result of that very nervous around men and would get fearful and nip out of fear. Ryan first boarded Xander for 5 days to get a sense how he is and the type of personality he has to prepare him for group training sessions. With about 6 months of group training as well as plenty of socializing, I can say that Xanders results are like night and day. Today he is more submissive and allows for a proper Introduction between himself and men whom he doesnt know. Thank you Ryan and team for all of your hard work! More...

Cole and the team at Sit Means Sit have completely changed my family’s life! Our pup Ace (100lb, 1 y/o, crazy energetic lab mix) has total impulse control and manners now, while STILL being fun and loving. He used to drag me on walks, to the point where it felt unsafe if he were to catch an eye on something and I wasn’t in full tug of war mode. This program has also transformed his anxiety! I can’t thank SMS enough for everything they’ve done. I went from being a total skeptic to not being able to imagine life without the Day Train program! If you are in search of something that WILL produce results this is the place to go - they treat your dog like their own. Daycare is pretty awesome too! More...

I can't say enough positive things about this organization.  The owners are incredibly loving and caring.   They are patient with pups AND the owners (and we are typically who needs to be trained). .. Just picked up Kodak from his 10 day training period and still have much more to learn and many group and private lessons coming up for him! However just in the those 10 days Kodak has learned so much and were so proud of him! Lee was his trainer and he was the one who helped us on the last day of training and pick up! He was super professional and informative. He answered all my wife's and my own questions. I can't speak on the private/group because I haven't been to any YET but I hear they really good and are tuned for the dog AND the handler which is important. Again. Highly recommend this location I know they franchised so I will not speak on the company itself however this particular location that Kris runs is awesome! He and his staff are always there to help when we have questions and go the extra mile for our companions! Thank you Kris, Lee, Tina, and the rest of the Tampa sit means sit team! More...

Sending our puppy to Sit means Sit for the 2 week program with Kerry has been life changing for our entire family. He is still his fun loving self but his behavior is 100% better. He is happy, we are happy. No one is yelling. We had him only in two rooms because he was so hyper anyplace else. Now he goes everywhere with us. He goes upstairs and he is calm, calm, calm. Here he is chillin by our tree not bothering it at all. #Christmasmiracle More...

What a difference training has made! I was walking my dog daily with stress and apprehension...trying to avoid crossing paths with other dogs, their owners, pedestrians (even school kids waiting at bus stops) and bicyclists as my dog would lunge and bark looking crazily aggressive. Now that we have an understanding of how it’s supposed to work as to who is in control, both my dog and I are enjoying our outings. Yippee! Thankyou Julie and Kris! More...

Very glad I found Ryan and his team. My goldendoodle used to be super friendly, but developed aggressive behaviors towards other dogs after a few biting accidents. I was very sad and felt very sorry for him as we could on longer take him to dog parks and off-leash areas for fun.We came to Ryan ~half year ago and did the board and train for 3 weeks.  I was a bit skeptical about e-collar training like most of people. However, I do think with professionals like Ryan to guide you, it could be a very effective tool for training. I like the fact that the group classes afterwards are free life-time long. The group classes are super fun for both dog and human, and work the dog's brain and sharpens their focus at the same time. Moreover, with Ryan and team's supervision, it creates a very safe environment for your dog to interact with other dogs. My dog loves to play with other dogs and never showed any aggression during the free play time in class (to my big big surprise...).And I think my dog is regaining his confidence more and more when around other dogs after these couple months of work. But it definitely still requires ongoing effort. And I am glad Ryan is on my side to help me with all the questions I have. More...

Sit Means Sit in OKC has done a tremendous job with our rambunctious Chocolate Labrador Retriever.  After dragging my wife across the golf course one evening while on a walk, my wife found Sit Means Sit.  We enrolled Rufus James and on Day #1 with Torric and Kayli, there was a big, noticeable positive change in Rufus James' behavior.  We have finished the initial training and continue to work Rufus James at home and bring him back for follow up reinforcement training.  Although Rufus James still gets overly excited when he meets another dog during walks, he is not dragging my wife across the ground anymore.  He is such a different dog now, listening to commands and able to be "Placed" and remaining in "Place" for extended periods, like dinner time.  We will continue our relationship with Kayli and Torric, as we continue the journey with our "Lovable Knucklehead", Mr Rufus James ! This place is great! I was super impressed that they sit down with you one on one to meet you, your dog, and to answer any questions/go over options. It was super professional and very comforting. My pup Koga is very hyper and head strong, he pulls, and jumps, and doesn't pay attention well. I did the 5 week program with Cole and he was SO good with him. After the 2nd week Koga's behavior was so different. Cole's patience with Koga as well as me was so nice, he made sure I understood what to do and knew when I was messing up. 7 November 2019

At first glance, this training seems expensive however, now that I have had my two older dogs go through, I can tell you it is worth every penny and my husband and I have vowed that any future canines that come into our life will be immediately signed up. My husband and I both came into our relationship with dogs. And they immediately got into scraps that ended in both of us getting bit trying to separate them. For the last three years we have done everything to keep them apart: let them out at separate times, kept their kennels apart, have never been able to walk them at the same time, etc. PAIN IN THE BUTT. We ran into the Sit Means Sit booth at the fair and, after talking with them, decided it was worth a shot to bring some normalcy into our doggy lives and be able to enjoy our dogs instead of being constantly fearful of them coming in contact (and teach my GSD to learn some impulse control when it came to other dogs). After ONE lesson, not only could I have them in the same room but they both obeyed and acted like polite dogs! After two lessons we can walk them together and they both heel and respond to our cues! Now here is the best part of this training. We have very busy lives. We drop the dogs off and they, one-on-one, work with them all day until we come to get them in the afternoon. We spend about 45 minutes learning how to follow up. And it’s easy, the follow up fits right into what we already do every day now with less stress! I have already signed my GSD up for Frequent Fido where she gets a day a month of training for the rest of her life and they do all the work, correcting whatever we have issues with or learning new skills. This training was priceless for us and we HIGHLY recommend it. At the location we go to in Edmond, the trainers are also just fantastic! More...

Three years ago we got our dog Chico from Haws. He was a cute 9lbs Chihuahua. Fast forward to a month ago. Chico was running our household. He was only nice to me and even sometimes attacked my husband and other dogs. We couldn't have visitors because he has bit every person who came here, even was quarantined by Waukesha County. On walks he would chase cars, bikes, people, and was totally out of control.  My husband and I have not been able to even do a weekend out of town since we got him!  That lead me to Sit Means Sit. Their program is based on fear and aggression. At the consult Chico was trying to constantly attack people. I signed him up for personal training. I dropped him off the first Monday for an 8-4 session. When I came back Chico was calmly sitting in a room with other people and dogs!  He looked RELAXED!  I could not believe it. We just completed our 4th session and I couldn't be more proud of Chico. He doesn't bark, comes, sits, stays in place. Even on walks I see a dog and tell him to sit, he does!  He is focused on me. I was shocked to learn he was fear based and probably scared most of his life. We're now building both of our confidence in each other. We will forever be grateful to the awesome trainers Leonard and Seth who became Chico's friends. Seth even refers to Chico as his little buddy!  Thanks so much for changing our lives!! More...

Our little girl Stella was a handful. She is a Corgi/Cattle Dog-so all herding dog. Stella is good with humans but her siblings and other dogs, she wanted to lead. She would walk by and snip, bark and if it really came down to it a throw down. We tried "time out" maybe a spanking. She slowly figured out, 10 minutes-I'll do my time and then back to yard I go. We tried a bark collar and even medication. Nothing was working. Our 2 males would always be very still when she would walk by. Almost like if you avoid eye contact, maybe she'll go away. At the end of the day 3 dogs is a lot, but one with behavior issues is hard. Sit means Sit worked. It was a blessing. Stella is much better with other dogs. We are able to have other dogs over. My husband and I are able to hug in front of her now, which used to upset her. She listens and follows commands. She understands with or without her collar. She will get a treat here and there but her training reward, is strictly praise. We moved out of state so we've just been doing daily practice. This class really taught her manners/boundaries and to have less anxiety. It was well worth the time and money spent. The staff is really great. They worked with her but with us also. Sit means sit buffalo & Marv’s trainer Tom have been amazing the past few weeks! With a relocation coming fast, it was a terrible time for our puppy to start being reactive to strangers and testing his limits. Tom fit us into his schedule with very little time and has helped us give Marv the confidence he needs to be a much more obedient and less terrified pup! SMS South Bay did a wonderful job with our dog Myko. He is a very sweet dog but has fear aggression towards people and dogs, which made walking him on the leash very difficult since he is unpredictable and very strong. It got to the point where we dreaded walking him because if we encountered another person or dog Myko would go nuts and become uncontrollable (he pulled us down a few times). After the board and train, Myko is so much better. He can now be walked and remain under control, and remain focused during group classes where there are distractions of people and other dogs. He's not perfect, but he keeps improving the more classes we attend (which are free after board and train) and our whole family can now breathe a sigh of relief. Training a dog is a lifelong process that you have to keep working at, but the SMS South Bay method has really worked well for our dog. Myko responds well to the e-collar (much better than the previous prong one we used). Also, with a big dog, the e-collar method is much easier (does not require the person handling the dog to be strong) and more humane (don't have to yank on it). Now, Myko overall has more confidence and is more calm. Myko absolutely loves all of the trainers, who worked so hard to help him and patiently gained his trust (Jayden, Sam, Lizzy, and Ryan of course). During the group classes we get special attention when we need it and we really appreciate how dedicated the whole team is to seeing Myko succeed. Thank you SMS South Bay! More...

The staff are all very eager to help in any way with any challenge areas throughout the training and even after to make sure the obedience is up to par and staying with the dog for the long term. Their group classes are great skills to learn and take home on a regular basis to keep the progression of training. Both group classes and pack walks I have found to be very beneficial for my pup and ME! They give me great tips and tools to take home to continue layering on into my home sessions. Outstanding results so far and am eager to continue learning more for a skillful and successful obedient dog that I can take anywhere without worry, low confidence or issues. So far so good, and exceeding my initial expectations! More...

My greyhound/ Pyrenees mix has had lifelong issues with responding to stress and being destructive in the house. The Sit Means Sit staff have been incredibly helpful and accommodating. They did an incredible job kick-starting his training so he was at a manageable place for me to take him home and make more progress. They have been flexible with my crazy schedule and kept easy open lines of communication. Easily my best ever experience with dog training. We are 2 full sessions in and our pup is responding well. As with most things, you get out of it what you put into it. We follow their direction and work with our dog at home between sessions and it’s going well. Having a well trained dog is a completely different experience than an untrained dog - it’s much more enjoyable and worth the effort. We recommend Sit Means Sit. More...

Sit Means Sit did a great job with my French Bulldog!! He was very disobedient and had become aggressive towards me and my other dogs. After the 12 day board and train at Sit Means Sit, he’s a different dog! I’m very satisfied with the manner in which they cared for him while boarding him and also the training that he received. We are continuing the with the additional lifetime lessons that are included. Definitely a 5 star rating!!! More...

I give Sit means Sit a 5 star review! When I first brought Caesar he had high anxiety around other dogs, dragged me around on walks, and had no interest in listening. I was referred to Sit Means Sit by my sons soccer coach after he saw how uncontrollable our 6 month old rescue Pit Mix was. I noticed immediate improvement in my pup after just the initial 1hr introduction class with Trent. This convinced me to get a training collar and to begin training her myself. Two months later and I finally bit the bullet, spending the money on 3 all-day training sessions spaced 1wk apart. We completed the 3rd training today and I the changes have been monumental. Most notable changes:First training - pup would come, sit (correctly), and place on a target with very few corrections.Second training - she would heel with few corrections over the course of a 1 mile walk; this after nearly having my shoulder pulled out of socket prior to training. She was also able to place for 2 hours with only 2 small corrections - this while we had a contractor over and with a 10 month old crawling all over and around her.Third training - pup will now sit and stay at a distance and follow sit commands at a distance. With SMS's support and positive attitudes I have never felt so confident in the handling of a dog and am looking forward to SMS group classes to maintain and advance her training. My wife and I could not be happier with Sit Means Sit.  From the initial consult visit to the group classes (which our dogs love going to! ), Kris, Megan, and the other trainers have made it an inviting and beneficial experience.  We have 2 dogs (one older and a puppy) and they were able to work out a plan for both of them.  It has been a lifesaver for us on walks and in public.  Before the training program, they would be all over the place.  They would be barking at other dogs, pulling us on their leash, and generally making our walks stressful.  Now, we can take them out without anxiety of them being a nuisance.  They walk loose-leashed, they do not bark, and are much better behaved.  Thank you!! Trent & the SMS team are amazing. It's only been a few months & my dog now walks by my side, instead of pulling, most of the time even without using the collar. He's much better in the home now, too. They offer several different group classes (included) throughout the week to help hone training skills & socialization in different settings & with different distractions. All the staff members are super helpful & friendly, offering additional service or private sessions if needed. Friends & our dog's groomer have noticed an improvement in our dog's overall behavior. At first I thought the training was a bit pricey, but given the results (and the fact that previous training elsewhere wasn't as effective), it's definitely worth it, and we're so glad we found Sit Means Sit. Sit means sit is an absolutely amazing dog trainer. We have a retriever mix who had just about every anxiety problem you could imagine. He was insecure, he would bark for HOURS when left alone, destroy every thing in his sight, pee and poop anywhere he wanted, he hated anyone who came into the house and bark bark barked. We couldn't have him anywhere near other dogs, he was overprotective of me. He was a train wreck. After coming home from his 4 weeks board and train, I thought they gave me the wrong dog. He was barely making noise right off the plane. He sat immediately after being told when I disassembled his crate for the car ride home. It was almost like he was tired but he wasn't. It's not been easy since he's been home, but it's not the way it use to be either. I have to use higher collar pressure sometimes because he's stubborn. Sometimes he has accidents in the house and sometimes he gets into the trash when home alone Bear is 4 years old and has always been this wayBUT its been 2 month since he came back home and I haven't heard him bark when left alone, we can go on walks and pass other dogs, people, bikes, etc.. his confidence is through the roof now. He's so happy and energetic. He loves everyone who comes over. Correcting 4 years worth of unwanted behavior certainly has its challenges but with dedication, it's possible! The training doesn't end when your dog comes home, that's where it truly begins. Scott and his crew are dedicated to seeing your doggo succeed. We had to reschedule Bears training 2-3 times because he had TPLO surgery twice and they were completely understanding. Scott is so quick to answer any questions or concerns you might have. When guests come over, they always say how well behaved Bear is and how quickly he responds to a command. It's changed our life and made Bear the happy, confident dog he was meant to be. I would recommend to anyone with any dog issues. They know what they're doing because they've seen it all. They are also trainers for life. If you move, you're covered. If doggo regresses, you're covered. When life happens, they've got you covered. More...

We have a 7 month old dogo argentino.  We had been working on training her ourselves.  We had mild success.  She is an extremely powerful dog and mild success was not adequate.  When she decided to do what she wanted to it was difficult to stop her.  Long story short we went on a week vacation and needed to board her so we decided to spend the extra for a board and train.   We called several trainers on Oahu and Sit Means Sit on Maui.  The off island fact made them Our last choice when we made the list.  However, they were extremely responsive and professional.  Not pushy or put out by our inquiries and questions.  They sent over a good information package with videos.  They quickly rose up our list and finally we opted to go with Sit Means Sit.  Our dog,Hina, did a 10 day board and train.  She came back a different dog.  Still loving and puppy as ever but we were able to control her 100% of the time.  Her obedience is exponentially greater.  SCOTT did 2 follow up visits a week apart at our home.  Both were simple and to the point.  He explained how she was trained so we could understand the training philosophy and how to use the ecollar. The following week was a tune up for us which was very helpful In sharpening our skills.  I would and have recommended Sit Means Sit to friends.   Hi as obedience has made us much more comfortable taking her to public places and having her around other animals.  If you don't know dogos google them.  They are very trainable but also powerful bodies and personalities.   Thank you Scott More...

Honestly, Sit Means Sit is amazing & so is our dog trainer Faith! I was nervous to do the board & train with my dog, Apollo, at first (typical dog momma behavior) but we did the initial consultation with Faith & was immediately put at ease. We let her know all of our concerns & she answered every question with so much knowledge & enthusiasm; I could definitely tell she knew what she was doing & that she could handle Apollo's issues. After that, I knew that I had made the right decision to leave him with her for two weeks. She kept us updated with photos + videos of his progress, she even remedied his eye when it looked like he was having allergies! We worked with him on our own for a week & when we came back for graduation, he was so happy to see her! This just reinforced how well taken care of he was while being away. We can now take him outdoors & in public knowing he will listen & be very well-behaved. We have the same excitable, goofy boy just well-behaved & with manners. Thank you Faith for going above & beyond for Apollo & giving us our dream dog inside & outside our home! More...

SMS in Austin has been amazing. Bella, my 4 yr old German Shepherd and I have been in training with them for almost a year. No one else would work with Bella as she was aggressive towards strangers and other dogs and is 85lbs. SMS didn't hesitate. Don't know what I would have done without them. The trainers are so professional, helpful, knowledgeable, patient, with both the dogs and the people. I don't know how but they notice everything in class even with so many dogs. Especially catching and praising when your dog or you does something good or stepping in to help and redirect when your in trouble. They are hands-on, return phone calls and emails, and have even come to my house to help when I was stuck. In the board and train we got weekly videos of Bella's progress. I can't say enough about the staff. I haven't met one of them yet that I don't feel 100% confident with. A special acknowledgement to Kelli, can't say enough good things about her. literally-WOW. Awesome staff and very helpful. They take the time to make sure you understand what it is you're supposed to be doing to train your pet and they call a couple days later to follow up after a session. Granted, they are NOT miracle workers, they can't have your dog for 2 days and board them for another day and hand them back to you 100% trained, they can only give you the tools and tricks to follow through, if you don't keep up with training  at home, after facility sessions or dayboarding/overnight boarding and if other members of your house don't contribute, you wasted their time, your time and your money because you will not get results. But if you're consist and listen to you're trainer you will be surprised and ecstatic about the results. They offer a variety of group classes to try and meet your needs, they have a big online support group with other owners in the same boat as you!  Highly recommend! More...

Got this young dog from a humane society where she was stuck in a kennel 24 hrs a day for about 4 weeks. She was a nervous wreck, so incredibly out of control I almost didn’t even get her. Couldn’t walk her on a leash without pulling my arm out of socket, ran like a freight train where she wanted no matter what I tried telling her, jumped all over kids, wouldn’t keep down no matter what we tried- cars, furniture, counters, she jumped at and scratched everything in sight. This wasn’t even the worst thing she did- she barked and howled non-stop. She seemed unsure of everything and distrusted us from the start. All night long the night we brought her home from the shelter we tried to pet her and calm her down couldn’t. She was so crazy my daughter named her Xanny Bar, because, to be honest, if I’d had any I’d have given her some. She was not the dog we wanted and we could not get her calmed down or quiet in her kennel so we put her out in a horse stall out in our barn. My husband said “take her back” but instead I took her to Sit Means Sit in Edmond. I was not too familiar with the place, had no idea what to expect, and to be honest I thought it seemed overpriced for dog training as I’d seen cheaper day classes online. They kept her Wednesday through Saturday and when we picked her up Saturday afternoon we were so impressed. We had no idea they would be GIVING US a dog training collar, a pet bed thing, and a leash with a lifetime guarantee (did I mention she chewed through the leash the Humane Society gave me- in about 90 seconds) and 2 hours of training my family on how to use the commands she learned and our training collar. The transformation that has come over our dog is unbelievable. Best money I’ve ever spent in my life- our dog is now calm, happy and knows what we are telling her to do. It was as if we didn’t speak the same language before, but now after the training from Sit Means Sit, we can now actively communicate and interact with our dog. She doesn’t bark now, except when we’re outside playing and if it gets too loud I say “Quiet” and she stops instantly. My kids love our new dog and we would not have even been able to have her if it wasn’t for her training. Even my husband plans to take her out with him on the farm, something I never thought I’d see because she is so loving and calmly well-behaved now, though she’s not perfect yet. I’m not scared to let my 7 year old take her on a walk because she seems to know her walking space, left side of you and never in front of you. My kids first experience walking her left my kids scared to take her out, but not any more. She sits when you say sit and she comes when you say come. She fetches and drops the tennis ball when you give the command and there’s no need to get all slobbery wrestling it out of her mouth. I cannot believe the amount of love this dog has brought us in the short time she’s been here. She sits quietly with you on the couch and falls asleep while we watch movies together on the couch. I love having a dog that brings peace in my life and seems to calm things down a notch- it’s like she’s become a dose of Xanax for me instead of needing some herself. Sit Means Sit was flexible with me on taking her when I needed and the length of stay was what we could afford, they even were flexible on creating a training package and price that worked for us. They knew we needed help and they stepped up to help. I couldn’t be more happy and satisfied with their work, the price, all the follow up and classes and training hotline available to me now. Sit Means Sit was the best thing I could have done for my dog.  For years I have been unable to enjoy my dog, especially when my dog took me for a walk when I wanted to spend quality time with him.  As a result, he stayed in the house or backyard, never leaving because he would not take any directions as the world revolved around him.  Several friends and family members took their dogs to this training with amazing results.  I thought I would give it a try as I did want to enjoy my dog and up to this point in his young life, there was not a lot of enjoyment going on.After two weeks of training - WOW!! My dog is in a great place now, fun to be around and I can take my dog for a walk now and lead him instead of he leading me!!  I take my dog out at least once a day and as I am getting my exercise and enjoyment, my dog is getting the same, right by my side, not wanting to stray off even when a rabbit runs by!!  This has been the most worthwhile investment I have made since obtaining my Weimaraner four years ago.  After two weeks of being home since the training concluded, my dog is now walking with me off-leash (something I never envisioned).  The staff was absolutely amazing and Carolyn is the best!!  Although everyone had a hand in Ki's training, Carolyn made him the dog he is today with the loving patience that she had with him.  During the weekly aftercare training, Ki just loves to see her!!  To all the staff of Sit Means Sit, thank you!!  You all are great and a pleasure to be with and around whenever we see you at training!! We moved to California from Boston about 22 months ago. We start training our dogs from the day we get them as pups on our own and also by going to classes at multiple places at a time. Usually the dogs would  be in training at 2 -3 places at any given time.  The more training and socialization the better.  Both our labs have passed classes from puppy to beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes and we would always be looking for more challenges.  Our now 4 year old lab did a Board and train at Sit Means Sit near Boston for a week mostly to just tighten up her skills and prepare her for classes geared towards therapy work.  When we moved, our younger lab was 10 months.  He had been doing great until  he was attacked by three dogs at a doggy day care when he was about 7 1/2 months old.  Then he started becoming very leash reactive despite all the training we had already done. He was regressing. And two different times he reacted so strongly he flipped me.  One of those times I broke my cheek, bruised my ribs and sprained my wrist and shoulder.  This was during our the drive when moving from Boston to California.  So once we got here I was looking for a new trainer to start working with him out here. One fellow we found was very good but quite a distance away. He said we would need to use a pronged collar or e-collar because of the reactivity. We started off using the pronged collar which was ok for only about 3 days.  I then found out there was another Sit Means Sit nearby in Glendora. We sent our lab, who by then was a year old, for a week of board and train.  He not only was leash reactive but also would pee about every three steps on anything and anyone! He would even pee while walking, without stopping. But he was also an incredibly sweet, affectionate dog. So we really wanted him to get over his reactivity. After being with Trent for a week we got a call asking if they could keep him for an extra few days at no extra cost, they said he was improving but was not where they had wanted him to be at that point because he was very stubborn, which I was very well aware of.  That was in February of 2018. We go to group classes with both our dogs, now 2 and 4,  two to three times a week. Both are now therapy dogs and members of The Go Team Therapy, Crisis and Airport dogs!  Much of the work we do at class is off leash.  Everyone at class is supportive of each other because we have pretty much been all through it all before. A lot of people are concerned about using e-collars. When you learn about them and how they are used and work, it's not the 'shock collar' that other people talk about. If they were, my dogs wouldn't be so happy when we put the collars on them.  And I have put the collar in my hand to feel what the sensation is.  Before having back surgery I used a TENS unit on my back. The level of my dogs collars is about 1/10 of the level I would use on my back. Trent, and everyone at Sit Means Sit, works hard to help the dogs with their issues and really care about the dogs.  The continuing classes are great and help everyone working on their skills.  It's really great watching how all the dogs progress. Everyone's very supportive of each other.  My husband and I both highly recommend Trent and the Sit Means Sit team. More...

4.5 stars: Trent and his staff are clear communicators who respond in a timely manner with good detailed examples/details. Sit Means Sit is an e-collar based curriculum that works very well. (E-collars are like using NMES or TENS units to help trainers improve communication with their dog for most humane dog trainers.) After my private lessons (I did the 3 private lessons with 3 months group class) my dog was night and day better and after 2 months of going to group classes twice a week, my dog's reactivity was substantially better and her precision was quite well honed (although I will say you do also have to put in the effort outside the class to maintain/achieve the best results). One issue that was not fully resolved by the end of my time with them has been my dog's ability to interact with other dogs (my dog has been attacked by dogs in our neighborhood and was therefore fear aggressive/defensive). Dog-to-dog interaction is not something emphasized (for sound reasons) but is still something I wanted to be addressed. The session I had with Trent and Nicole helped decrease my dog's aggression but I will likely need either another trainer who has more well trained dogs to choose from or a sudden influx of new dog friends who are well behaved in order to implement/practice their recommendations and to achieve the socialization I am looking for for my dog.I also do wish San Gabriel Valley wasn't so sprawling as this was quite the drive for me each time. It was worth it. All told, my dog's trust and confidence improved tremendously. We communicate much better. My dog will need more time before she is ready for the Good Canine Citizen but after my 3lessons+3 months we have made substantial progress toward that goal. More...

Sit Means Sit has and is a important part of my Family (family meaning humans and dog) life. The talented staff at SMS Lexington provided invaluable training for ME and my dog. Their boarding and kennel services along with continued willingness to provide training and care advice are invaluable. We were from the very first visit and continue to be treated like family and the staff have often gone out of their way to help me weather it be with training or kennel services when life has unexpectedly taken me away from my dog dad duties. I highly recommend Sit Mean Sit Lexington. Their knowledge, skill and services far exceed the cost you incur. More...

Today I forgot I was walking my dog.... for a moment I thought to myself, am I walking my dog? I could feel the leash in my hand so I knew I was but because we were walking so in sync with each other I forgot. This realization of how well our walk was going felt like a victory. This same dog 3 months ago was the exact opposite. You know the dog that pulls at its leash constantly choking itself to death? That was my dog. You know the dog that jumps at every person that walks past? That was my dog. Chases scooters, bikes and skateboards? Yep. Growls at anyone who shows a smidge of fear? You get the picture...So to be walking in the middle of a skate park with people skateboarding and dogs around and many fields of soccer games and get to have the perfect walk with my dog, it felt like a moment worth talking about. Thanks to sit means sit my dog is able to be an active member of our lives inside and outside of our home. We are all happier because of it. More...

Mikey, tony and Sydney were amazing in showing and training not only my dog, but myself and my boyfriend on how to get my dog to listen to us with every single command. On top of that they work with your life style and what works best for your dog. They make sure that you understand the technique that they are using as turn all the love your dog has for you into respect as well. Overall I would rate this an 11/10 experience. Highly recommend we started with the puppy class for our Akita and are so happy with how it turned out we continued on his education with more training. My dog has become more responsive to my commands and has become a lot more comfortable with other dogs and people. I can’t thank them enough! Very happy with everything Cash has learned in the 5 day board and train. It will be a continuous thing because he’s still so young but they gave us a great start! I felt like I still have my sweet lovable boy but he doesn’t act like a wild hyena now. I highly recommend them. The boarding room was nice and very clean. They sleep in separate kennels right beside each other, there isn’t any stacked or anything. Very cool so they don’t get hot. He was feed and given his treats like I asked. They gave me updates and let me be the person who might be too much. I was very comfortable with all the staff there. You can definitely tell they love what they do and truly care about the dogs. We first took our Standard poodles here when they were puppies and I left saying “I’m not shocking my dogs!” So we spent lots of money on other training classes and never got good results. When we went back to sit means my husband was the one that was apprehensive and we almost didn’t follow through. I can say now, after two lessons, our dogs are TOTALLY different and listen to us! It is all about boundaries. they might not like this but our beautiful girls listen to us without the collars. We don’t put them on everyday. Words fail me when I’m asked about Lulu’s behavior... I’m very quick to announce how exciting our sessions with Sit means Sit continue to be and how much we learn. Lulu has had prior experience of an extensive training program and had a clear understanding of what is being expected of her but “do you know what”? Although her boarding school was brilliant and she excelled, I didn’t have the benefit of training with her longer than the three hour handover and actually, I’m the one who needs it more !! . i laugh about being the “additional needs child “; But the truth is that I don’t always “get it” first time around... the team at SMS are not only superbly skilled in canine behavior modification but they have an uncanny skill of knowing exactly what I need to do for Lulu and I to succeed. And succeed we will! after all, it’s not just about having a well behaved dog in social scenarios but, more importantly, a forever companion who will be safe in all situations... it could potentially be a matter of life and death in just a heartbeat. So when we see videos of SMS dogs who heed distance commands within that heartbeat, we can have the confidence to know that we are on our way to achieving the same, being safe in all situations. To the team at Sit Means Sit: Alexis, Blair, Naomi and Alexus .. thank you. You all are phenomenal and never cease to amaze me with your skills, knowledge and understanding, patience and tenacity we are ever so grateful fans and will keep coming back. This is the second time that I have used Sit Means Sit to train my dog. This time it was a rambunctious puppy that had no manners and was terrorizing my 9yr old dog and 10yr old daughter. So we opted to start out early with the puppy group glass to get her acquainted with other dogs and people. We followed that up with the 15 day board and train. Gemma and her staff are just wonderful. They really know how to train your dog in a fun way that leaves them with many commands and a happy dog. I feel like they treated her just like their own pup. Constantly sending me videos and pictures of her progress while she was gone. They took the time once we picked her up to review the commands and what we need to do as parents to keep the training going at home. In addition, they are going to teach my daughters so the whole family can participate. We also chose to board our older dog towards the end to really incorporate the two. If you are looking to have a well trained dog that is fully integrated into your family and enjoys the training, this is the place for you. Thanks Gemma and staff, this has been a great and so happy with the results. Darin, I appreciate you. More...

After we adopted a rescue dog, we quickly realized that we needed to get him trained. He was still a puppy and we were having no luck getting him to listen or obey. He was hyper and skittish. We selected Sit Means Sit and were very impressed with their method and results. As it turns out, Bodi is deaf and has anxiety. So Adam had a challenge on his hands and Bodi's transformation was remarkable!  As it turned out, three years later we needed training help again when Bodi started balking at getting groomed. He became aggressive with our groomer and nothing she, or we, did helped. We contacted Adam, and they solved the problem! I want to post a HUGE thanks to Adam, Craig, Kat, Jessica and the rest of the staff at the Sit Means Sit Modesto Facility!  We are beyond pleased and grateful for their excellent training skills with our dog Marley!  We opted to use their board and train program and could not be happier that we did. Before we took Marley in for training, she was aggressive toward other dogs/people, horrible on her leash ( pulling ), terrible listener and so stubborn!  We actually had used two other dog training programs to no avail.  I saw an ad for this facility and we thought we'd give it a try.  We are so happy we did!  We received videos and texts every few days showing us Marley's progress.  We knew she was in good hands because her tail was wagging in every video!  We were amazed at her progress and by the time we picked her up she was an obedient, disciplined and eager to please dog!  We continue to use the commands and training collar just like Jessica taught us when we picked up Marley.Taking her outside off leash has been AWESOME.  Knowing our dog is going to listen and not bolt in front of a car, or chase another dog, etc. is exactly what we wished for.  We 100% recommend this facility to anyone that is looking for dog training.  Thanks again! SMS South Austin without a doubt saved my relationship with my 8 year old Pitbull Knuckles! During my consult they were so patient and understanding about my concerns/issues with managing Knuckles high energy and extremely high anxiety, I would get so frustrated with his antics in public that I would usually just wind up in tears. He's so incredibly strong willed that I doubted the training could truly help- well a month later and I can tell you my life with Knuckles has completely changed! They taught me not only how to manage and control Knuckles energy, but also how to work on my own patience and attitude towards him- I realized very quickly that I had always given him tons of love but very little structure or boundaries. He is still a dog, not a robot that does everything right every second of the day- but I now have the tools to correct his behavior instantly and prevent it from escalating. Walks are actually enjoyable again (before SMS I would cringe during every walk because of how severe his outbursts would be- pulling, lunging, barking, whining at anything that moved) it is an AMAZING feeling to be able to walk him around the neighborhood with pride (and a relaxed leash that I'm not holding onto for dear life!) and I can now give him the physical/mental exercise he truly needs. I would highly recommend SMS to anyone, especially parents of wildly energetic pitties! SMS starts the process, gives you the tools and empowers you to continue advancing your dogs obedience level- be prepared to put in the work and you will be blown away by the results! More...

There are 2 other dogs around who are not well trained, but she is already listening to me over the behavior of the others. I'm excited to work her over time to get her to be a buddy I can bring anywhere with me, she's only a one year old with a ton of energy and impulses. I'm looking forward to the follow up training that's provided at my house after 10 days of immersion. I probably should have done 15 days of immersion, but finances and separation from her led me to the decision. Sit Means Sit has allowed me to do things with my dogs I didn't really imagine only two years ago. With my dogs: (we moved to Colorado 1. 5 years ago) 1. We've been to Set Them Free twice - an offroading non-profit event to combat sex trafficking in the states. She won the hearts of many people as we walked through the dining hall off-leash, booties and goggles on, and while I placed her and walked around the room shooting pictures. 2. We've hiked while I shot photography at one of Colorado's most extreme offroading trails, twice. Lana and Harlow placed and sat for 10s of minutes on end while I ran and jumped around obstacles as vehicles attempted and climbed each obstacle. 3. We've offroad over 20 trails in Colorado (including some truly pushing my truck to its literal limits ) while the dogs hung out in the truck or followed us over the trail. 4. We participated in the Breckenridge Christmas Dog Parade and were clearly a favorite. (offleash, dog goggles and booties on, scarfs, too) 5. We participated in a large trail cleanup and Lana actually helped bring me plastic bottles. It was incredibly windy that day and the trails are very dusty, so having her dog goggles on was a big win :D 6. We (Aubrey Sherman, too) have hiked many of Colorado's trails and our dogs love the freedom they've earned on the trails, and a few weekends ago, I was able to use my "center" heel command to have Lana between my legs while we passed a very aggressive dog. 7. One of the trails we did was Argentina Pass (a 14'er) and it was so windy at the top I didn't want to let the dogs out of the trucks out of fear they'd get blown away but once they were out, we used our "stay close" command 8. We attended Denver's Christmas Tree Lighting, which sucked because someone forgot to test the lights beforehand, rofl. It was at Union Station and Lana was easily off-leash and heeling among hundreds of people, a few dogs, and a few kids who literally hit her as she walked by... Most of these points demonstrate the freedom SMS's training enables you to give your dogs, and in my opinion from experiencing a few other SMSs, It's a huge part in how incredibly talented and communicative Chris Altherr and Breanne Altherr are. I still brag about these two whenever I talk "shop" with some stranger who compliments me on my dogs. Hope you guys got something out of this, as I sure have. More...

My dog was showing aggressiveness with strangers at home and on walks. I didn't know what to do and was told by a behaviorist that he was untrainable and to return him to the shelter. Then I found out about SMS and my dog was evaluated and recommended for 17 day immersion. He was assigned to Liz Anderson and we are so lucky that he ended up with her. They developed an instant friendship and his behavior is like night and day. I can now safely walk with him. Liz has trained me on what to do to manage the aggressiveness at home. I have come to her with my problems and she has been able to show me, teach me and get results. She knows Diggie's quirks and shows me how to handle him. Liz is super patient and firm but loving which has worked miracles with Diggie. I highly recommend Liz, considered yourself lucky/blessed if you get her. She is amazing! More...

Amazing start! Looking forward to the rest of training!Sooner is a very anxious dog, and has some bad habits that need to be broken. Talked with Lukas, and decided on the three day program. Day one, she is still very anxious, and unsure, but she knows the three main commands, and is at almost 50% on listening. The most important part to me is, they spent almost two hours today working with me to fix my issues as well. Very much excited about the possibilities!! More...

The team at Sit Means Sit OKC have literally saved our dog Jet's life! He was highly human aggressive, no matter what we tried it wasn't working and if they couldn't help him then we were going to have to make the heartbreaking decision to put him down. The Sit Means Sit team has sent us pictures, videos, texts, and phone calls the entire time he has been with them and I am in awe of the change in him!!! I was just praying for a dog that didn't want to eat every person he met and they have far exceeded that prayer. Never in a million years did I expect to have a dog that was giving strangers kisses at the local Home Depot, but I do now!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart Sit Means Sit OKC! More...

Sit means sit has done some wonderful things for my dog. We are working as a family to fully commit to this process. It is a lifestyle change for sure! But I can already tell how beneficial it will be 6 months from now. My dog has gained a lot of confidence in himself as well as in my husband and myself. Even more than just the training I can tell that my dog was loved on and played with outside of training. He has new ways of wanting affection and new games to play that he did not have prior to going to the 17 day program. Was it a lot of money? Yes. All I can say is think of your dogs life expectancy and divide the cost into a monthly rate. When you look at it like that it makes the price completely reasonable for how long it will change the dogs life as well as yours. Thank you sit means sit for giving my family a dog that we can manage and not be embarrassed or worried about. More...

Adding a dog to your family is a big deal and takes time, money,  and commitment. We adopted our boy from the shelter and his background was a bit spotty, like most rescues. He is amazing but just needed structure and guidance to be the best he could be.Which leads us to how we found Sit Means Sit. We wanted a place that would focus on training without breaking our dog down. A place passionate about canines. Who we could rely on to treat our dog with love and respect while training him structure and offering guidance. We found all this with Sit Means Sit. Our boy was low confidence, skittish, and very unsure of the world around him. Ryan and his crew transformed Boo in alittle over 2 weeks. Was he perfect? No, but much much improved. To expect perfection is unrealistic. Having a dog and training is continuous. That's why Ryan offers lifetime follow up weekly classes and continuous support. You are literally a part of the Sit Means Sit family! The price might shock you, but the benefits and all the support after they come home makes the program invaluable! Thanks Ryan for such an amazing program! More...

Sit Means Sit is one of the best investments we've ever made for our dog! We felt like we had reached a point with training our 1 year old Dalmatian and weren't being effective by ourselves. With all of her happy energy and love of people and other dogs, we had a leash-pulling, unfocused ball of happy energy ALL THE TIME. We felt like we couldn't go to bars or places with lots of people or dogs because she would jump/bark/pull the entire time. We met with Adam for the intro session and felt good about doing the board and train program - they give you lots of options of their training programs and information about each, but board and train seemed like the best option for us. She just completed 10 days of board and train, and we've had two follow up sessions with Adam. We can't even begin to tell you what a different dog she is! She is more focused (and easy to regain focus now) and a completely different dog on the leash! We can't recommend Adam enough. He has been so helpful and kind with her, and patient with us as we learn the new training too. This is one of the best investments we have ever made!! More...

Sit Means Sit has turned our son into a new dog! He went into SMS very anxious, and unpredictable with people and other dogs. Now, he is more attentive, he acts better when we’re in public, and we feel closer to him because of our new structured relationship. We have a long way to go, but this was definitely the push he needed to become the best boy! We did the 3 day board & train and now we go to group classes (the best part!). If the dog parents do their part with home practice and go to classes, it is 100% worth the $$. We definitely recommend! Special thanks to Caitlin and Ryan! More...

We did the 5 day training and it was perfect for, Milo. He is peaceful and obedient and I truly believe he is a happier dog now. He is not showing aggressive behavior at all. We also got the Frequent Fido add on which will allow us to take, Milo for one full day, once a month for a whole year. This will be great for follow ups. The staff at SMS were great at updating us on, Milo’s progress and sent a picture and video. They were very attentive to, Milo and are going to be a huge help to us. The only word I can think of to say is WOW!!! We have a German Shepherd rescue that was very needy would jump on you when you came into our home would just run around the house and is very stubborn. We didn’t know where to start to try and get him into a better place for everyone. We knew he had great potential just didn’t know how to get it out of him. Then we meet Lucas with sit means sit. He and his team took our shepherd for a week and the transformation in him is almost unbelievable.not only did they get him to a better place, when I went to pick him up they spent time with me teaching me how to work with him at home to carry on what they started. I want to write a stellar review for the folks at Sit Means Sit who transformed my TERRIFIED foster pup into a loving, confident, happy and all around AMAZING dog! I wish I could add five more stars!I enrolled my foster into the Sit Means Sit 17-day boarding program after I realized she was no where near ready to be adopted. Layla was fear biting and reactive toward anyone new. She had been pulled from a high kill shelter in Texas and after losing 5 out of 6 of her puppies, she was absolutely terrified of people. Fast forward to dropoff on the 17th day....Layla came back a totally different dog. She was happy, confident and excited! Aaron and the team made it super simply to continue her training at home and even did lessons at Layla's forever home. Four days after she returned from training, she wad adopted -- Her forever family thinks they hit the jackpot! Hard to believe she is the same dog that would hide in the corner and do everything to stay away from people. Big shoutouts especially to their office manager Breeze and Layla's lead trainer Aaron who were kind enough to keep me totally up to date but answered numerous phone calls and questions while we tried to navigate Layla into her new home. I simply can't say enough good things about the team at Sit-Means-Sit, the program and the results. If you are on the fence about taking your dog to training because of the cost, the time etc. DON'T WAIT! I was at a loss with Layla's behavior before her training but I can easily say without a shadow of a doubt that it was the best thing I've done as a foster home and hands down the best thing that ever happened to Layla!THANK YOU SIT MEANS SIT! I just picked up my beagle mix on Saturday after a week of training and oh my gosh is there a difference! He is such a good boy now! We had issues with separation anxiety, not coming when called, and not stopping when asked (things like playing too rough or running after a squirrel in another yard.) He now comes when called, stops when asked, and does not cry if we leave the room. He also wants at the door like a gentleman when we go outside to play. Before he would just try to squeeze out the door and run off as fast as he could. I do not have enough words to thank Sit Means Sit. There is a photography business run from my home and people are always in and out, and we feared we would lose my dog if the door was open and he had a split second to try to go outside. Now we feel safer and things are peaceful! He is still his spunky self, just a more polite version! More...

Aside from rescuing our dog, joining Sit Means Sit was one of the best decision we've made! We've been dog owners in the past, became empty-nesters and vowed to never have a dog again, but the house was too quiet! All of that changed when we went to "just look" at dogs at an adoption weekend - we both fell in love and soon we were the proud parents of two and a half month old Harley! she's been a great dog and an excellent companion since day one. But we knew based on her mixture of breeds we wanted a deeper understanding of her, and the education of how we could work together. That's exactly what the team at Sit Means Sit has been done to do for us. I was definitely that nervous mom getting statred, but every team member that we've met has been reassuring, made us feel comfortable and shown a great deal of patience! They are exceptional and extremely knowledgeable. We still have a ways to go with Harley, but we know with the support of the team, the group classes, and utilizing the board and tune program - our outcome is going to be exactly what we're looking for! Her attention and eye contact with us is amazing! Thank you Sit Means Sit-we cant wait to go to the next level together! More...
