What do you love most about your job?
Conducting investigations is not a job to me. What I do is solve mysteries and that is challenging and fun all at the same time. I have spent 31 years in this chosen profession and I have enjoyed every minute of it; except for those hot 100 degree plus days when I conducted surveillance:) Now I get to train and oversee my field investigators as they learn how to deal with those types of extreme conditions.
Overall, it is very satisfying to me when we have brought an investigation to a successful conclusion and our clients are pleased with our efforts.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I first started in the private investigation business working for the retired police chief of a large metropolitan police department, who had his own private investigation agency. Under his strict and skilled guidance, I learned to become a detailed and successful private investigator. When he decided to retire from the private investigative field, he sold me his business, which I renamed Stewart Investigative Services. I was inspired to start my own business after watching my mentor do it for several years. He taught me the ropes and I ran with it.
Why should our clients choose you?
I thrive on successfully completing investigations. Bear in mind, that everyone measures success differently. If we conduct surveillance on an injured worker and we obtain film of him limping and using a cane, I consider that a success, as the insurance adjuster can settle the claim knowing the worker is legitimately injured. If we follow someone who is suspected of cheating on their spouse and we learn that the person really is going to the gym three days per week and straight home, I consider that a successful investigation. If on the other hand we obtain evidence that someone is cheating on their spouse, I considered that successful as well. If someone is suspected of embezzling money and through a detailed forensic audit it is determined that it is some form of accounting error that is successful. However, if we conduct an audit or video evidence that someone has or is currently embezzling money and facilitate their arrest, then that too is a success.
