My mum and I attended a Christmas Fayre in Nov 2018 and heard this group singing. Wow! Just Wow! They are full of energy which gets everyone joining in and enjoying the music. Little People is a wonderful way to enjoy music and singing for young children. My little girl loved it and is always singing - she is now in Stars and learning even more! Joining 'Sing People Sing' in May 2018 was the best decision I could have made. I was immediately made to feel welcome by all members of the group. On day one I was told Sing People Sing were working towards their first professional gig since Godspell. Scheduled to accompany 'Tenors Unlimited' at The Regent Centre in Christchurch. Wow, I thought, what an amazing opportunity. Here I was faced with my first challenge, to learn 7 songs in just under two weeks. I rose to the challenge finding every moment I could to learn and prepare the material. My fellow choir members were incredibly supportive, sending recordings of harmonies, lyric sheets and even offering to rehearse outside Wednesday's choir practice. It felt so refreshing to be surrounding by so many wonderful people who were passionate about singing. Who supported each other, who listened to one another. Nicole is incredibly talented her passion for music, composing and conducting is simply inspirational, I feel incredibly privilllaged to work alongside her. I was extremely nervous when I first joined SPS in January. It didn't last very long as the group of people are really friendly and supportive (there is also a diverse range of age groups) Nicole Dawson is very professional and is so so good at her job. I’ve only joined Sing People Sing recently in January and although I was a little apprehensive at first I have had a great time! The music that we sing is amazing, Nicole our musical director is fantastic and so talented and everyone in the choir has been so lovely and welcoming. I have only been a member of ‘Sing People Sing’ since autumn 2017, but during that time I have had a wonderful time, becoming friends with a great group of talented individuals being (pulled in a new direction) pulled in the right directed by Nicole who is an inspirational individual pushing us all to be the best we can. I never imagined the buzz or elation that is felt by performing as a group in front of an audience – it feels good! Sing People Sing are the most welcoming, inclusive group of people I've ever met. Nicole is a massive talent not only at composing beautiful peices of music for the choir, but also increasing confidence in individuals. When I joined two terms ago I was too nervous to audition in front of people, now I itch to perform! If you're not sure, are too scared, would like to but you've not done it before.... do it!! As a new member of this wonderful singing group I've enjoyed every moment of the time spent with them. A very friendly choir but also very professional in its productions. Helped all the time by the other members and of course by the best choir master around. Love this choir. Having sung with the choir now for some months I feel an update of my review is due. Have now completed Christmas and various Christmas concerts to a very high standard and also the odd festive tipple here and there which made the season very merry indeed, we now are working hard on four new songs for an up and coming competition. I really couldn't recommend 'Do You Hear The People Sing' more, words wouldn't do Nicole's choir justice! Besides Nicole's incredible talent for re-writing music for us, having an amazing vision for each piece, as well as teaching and inspiring us, the energy of the choir during both rehearsals and performance is so wonderful, it really feels like one big, loving, musical family. There is SO much opportunity here to grow as both a singer and a performer, and some of my best memories have been formed here. Great to be back with DYHTPS last night and getting stuck in to a fabulous new song. The choir pick new tunes up very quickly - ably aided and abetted by Nicole who clearly knows every inch of the score - having written it herself - making for a fast and pacy learning experience culminating in a lively, vibrant performance. I joined DYHTPS? 2 years ago totally unprepared for the exciting adventure we have been on together.We have had so many thrilling opportunities to perform, the stand out one of which was with the professional tour of Godspell at the Mayflower Theatre. DYHtPS? is an inspired combination of music, theatre and community. I spent an incredibly exciting year as part of the choir and count myself very privileged to have done so. After witnessed them carol singing on the beach I knew they were something special about the group, but I had no idea what they had in store for me. The music was so much fun and the theatrical approach made it unique and special. Then there were the performances: singing on stage at the Mayflower in a West End production, various competitive events and a carol concert attended by 1,200 people. It really helped me grow in confidence and reignited a love for music. But it was the people who made it so incredible. The choir are a talented, passionate and incredibly welcoming bunch. Singing in Do You Hear the People Sing has been a fantastic experience! I've really enjoyed being part of such a fun and friendly group of people - it's always a highlight of my week. One key ingredient is Nicole herself - she writes brilliant arrangements that are a joy to sing and perform, and her exuberance and sheer belief in us always seems to bring the best out in us! I have been a member of DYHtPS? for over a year now. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in all sorts of events, such as the New Milton and Bournemouth Music Festivals, Christmas carols and songs at St Saviours, St Swithuns and Bournemouth Football Stadium.
