How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Planning permission is not usually required as it fall under permitted development, unless you live in a conservation area or your property is listed,then you will will almost certainly require planning permission.
If you live in a new build check there is no planning condition attached to the garage stating that it has to remain as parking

Most garage conversion consist of bricking up open and installing a window, installing a new floor, installing electrics, insulating, plastering and decorating.

Best way to check if you loft is suitable for conversion is to see if any neighbours have had theirs done, if not get a professional round around to measure up and see if you have sufficient head height required for a conversion.
