My name is Georgie and I have been a dog trainer and certified behaviourist for over 10 years. I specialise in behaviour modification using applied psychological techniques.
I work with reward based methodology with a particular passion for techniques that give the dog free choice (the most effective way to learn) and reduce stress. Communication between dog and owner is something I go through with you at great length as well as giving you tips on how to read your dog's behaviour. I show you how to set up the training and environment so that you can change your relationship with you dog and this provides a wonderful platform for reinforcement. Most of my clients work with me for the long term and I am the go to person for organisations such as the IAABC and the ISCP. I write and publish articles that educate trainers and behaviourists.
I work at Portsmouth University in their dog social cognition projects and use social learning to find out information about the prosocial behaviour of dogs (it’s brilliant fun). I also work at a college which specialises in teaching children with learning disabilities.
I am certified as an applied behaviourist with ABTC and IAABC and an affiliate of the ISCP.

My typical approach is to have an initial telephone conversation to establish what fits with your needs and those of the dog. I am flexible in what we can do and most people traditionally would like to have a full consultation and/or training session.
Behaviour referrals would require us to get a simple referral from your vet (this is a requirement for any certified professional in this industry) and then we can rule out any medical reasons why the behaviour might be occurring. Some cases may not require a vet referral and these will probably fall into the training category. Please note: some insurance companies will pay up to £500 towards your behaviour costs, this is why we need to get a referral letter from your vet and it should be the vet you are registered with.
I offer 1-2-1 and online training courses for dog owners (and trainers). Not all dogs thrive in a classroom setting and my preference is to help you train your dog in the context that he will be living. So, I tend to start a session at the house (low distracting environment) and then help you out on walks and in other places (this is great fun) and much more practical than being in a classroom. I can help with socialisation too and this is best achieved in the setting in which it will occur.
I use a 5 point task technique (which breaks the information down into bite size pieces) for each behaviour we work with and employ a technique call Tagteach. This is the most effective way to teach dog owners (according to the evidence). I help you to learn the skills to teach your dog yourself. I provide a fun interactive training pack with training schedules and charts which are great for kids and the whole family. I like to train as a team with people so that everyone can get rewarded for their efforts and it is the most effective way to progress and have consistency.

A list of my cheap affordable courses for dog owners can be found here:
Each course is around £10 and they are certificated. Please note: You will get free access to these courses when we start working with each other so that you can benefit from my experience and knowledge going forward.
I am friendly, easygoing and professional. I pride myself on being able to give impartial, non-judgemental advice. Each case is kept confidential. My training sessions are often videoed for my own understanding and development. These are often useful to watch back so we can track progress and make sure we have not missed anything with our training. These videos are often shown to other professionals for the purposes of education and to help identify ways in which we can help your dog.
I would be delighted to speak to you about the best way we can help and look forward to hearing from you in due course.
