About

I've been doing this a long time. I've photographed pretty much anything you can imagine, from the Pope to a dog balancing a Cheetos on his nose. I've been shooting commercially a bit over 45 years. It's a great life. I love it. My client list has included Banner Health, Expedia, Chevron, American Express, SCORE, CNA Insurance, Westcor, Farnam Companies, Hypercom, Best Western, Western National Insurance, Chicago Apparel Center, America West Airlines, Armour Dial Corp.

Q&As

For me, it's about seeing what you're looking at. Too many people these days are in a hurry, want to rush things, and therefore they don't take the time to get things right. My least favorite thing to hear is, "That's good enough." I want every image I create to be the best it can possible be.

What feeling do you think you would like associated with your product? What's your main objective? What can we do to create your ideal campaign?

I love blending the talents of everyone involved in creating an image. Synergy, love it. I really enjoy taking a thought and turning it into something tangible. And, probably best of all, I love the smiles I get from clients when they see their final imagery.

My big brother was my hero. He was a commercial photographer in San Francisco. He developed a disease that they treated by cutting off parts of his body. First a foot, then a calf, then a whole leg, then the entire other leg in one chunk. None of that cured him and they were considering taking his arms. He ended up taking his own life. On that day I took my camera and went from being an amateur landscape photographer to being a commercial photographer. Basically, I'm following in my brother's footsteps. So I'm doing it out of love for the imagery and my love for my brother.

One word, experience. So far, out of 45 years of shooting I've yet to have an unhappy client.

Sorry, no can do. It's kinda hard to shoot something unless I'm there.

Masking, social distancing, things like that. I bring a computer to shoots so my clients can see the images on the computer as we go along so that we can maintain distance between us.
