We had booked Simon to be our photographer years in advance and we are so lucky we did. We couldn't have asked for a better photographer, he was brilliant from the first moments we got in touch to the final moments of delivering our images. Simon went above and beyond to get to know me and Adam prior to our wedding and even made the special effort to remember the names of our closest family members and their relations to us. We thought this part was extra special as it just made it more including and friendly when he speaking to us and our guests, when we were getting the many group photos we has asked for. We had Simon Hughes photograph our elopement wedding in the lake District at Knipe tarn, which is part of the Gilpin Lakes Hotel. We had very firm ideas what we wanted, focussing on candid photographs and a photo-shoot on the lake and up in the hills behind the tarn. Simon was an excellent choice. He was willing to accommodate our wishes, get his feet dirty in the process and capture some amazing photographs for us. We met beforehand for a pre shoot and chat about how the day is planned, who will be there, names, ideas on photos and he instantly put us at ease. The Pre photos were amazing, it filled us with confidence our days would be too! And they didnt dissapoint, He captured moments we didnt know he would and looking back those are the most incredible as your not only seeing what you expect but what the day looked like from other peoples experience too. We booked Simon through Hitched after having to cancel everyone because of Covid and we couldn’t of booked better. Simon was absolutely incredible and so professional. He captured so much of our special day that we didn’t realise had happened and our wedding photos are just perfect! The way Simon captured us in the setting was amazing and we are so glad we booked him for our wedding. Being based in the lakes himself gives him a superb eye for the surroundings and where best to get the perfect shot. He never got in the way or felt like he was following you, just snapped away and got the best of everyone. Simon was a first hand gentleman of his trade. If you are considering booking Simon as your wedding photographer, we can whole heartedly recommend you do! Once we saw his portfolio online we were keen to book Simon, his ability to capture both the couple and the scenery so beautifully really suited our Lake District wedding. We meet up at the venue prior to the wedding for an informal chat and we then went onto the lake too take some pre-wedding photos. Simon was so easy to talk to and we were blown away by the pre-shot photos! We knew then we had booked the perfect photographer.
