4.75 out of 5 stars (no place is perfect, but this one's pretty close).I had never kenneled my current dog before, ever. I had always had family or friends dog/house sit; however, it was not an option when I moved back to Chucktown in 2017; so, I began a search for a kennel in the Charleston metro area. I came across Silversmith by pure accident, and have no regrets about choosing them.The staff REALLY cares about the animals in their care; and they are very responsive to owner inquiries. They even take pictures of play time and share them here on FB so you can see your furry family member. The facility while older in age, is clean, well maintained, and secure.In Charleston county, I would not trust anyone else to take care of my four-legged children. Since moving away (again), I've even made the arrangements to have my dog stay there, just so I know he's safe and taken care of. THAT's how much I trust them. More...

Silversmith Farm is a very loving, professional, and all around pleasant boarding facility. We have used them several times to board our pups. The owners, along with the manager live on the premises. The kennel techs are so sweet to all the pets and always take extra time with those doggies who are shy or are feeling homesick. They are able to care for special needs or dogs with medical needs. Everything is organized and each clients belongings are kept with them. The kennel is climate controlled with large individual runs. This is the best kennel. I have boarded Scarlett at other kennels who have provided good service but you can't beat having a large paddock to run around in and a large pond to swim in when you have a Lab. The kennel is clean and well maintained. Jen is absolutely awesome! She is so good with the dogs and handles them very well. You can tell that she really cares about the dogs. As residents of Mount Pleasant and "owners" of a dog-child, we have a rough time leaving our barking mess when we go out of town. It's not often that she's left alone, so we struggle with the guilt of leaving her in someone else's hands overnight. When we found ourselves needing to go on a short weekend trip and not able to bring her, we decided to look into Silversmith Farms, as my brother had a great history with them with his Great Pyrenees (a fellow dog-child). I am so glad that we discovered Silversmith to be an instant success. The whole place is stunningly beautiful; as we drove up the long driveway, off Chisolm Road on equally gorgeous Johns Island, we both were gushing something along the lines of, "this is what we should aspire to..." There are horses, chickens, oak trees, yards, two houses, a fenced pond, lots of grass, an exceptionally adequate kennel, and all sorts of other great things that contribute to the overall beauty and peacefulness of a well-kept and happy "farm." We knew instantly that Daisy was in good hands. The staff is exceptionally friendly and available. We met everyone, including the owners and on-site caretakers. There are only a few (I would guess around 8 or 10) spots available in the whole kennel at any given time, so each dog is given ample opportunity to be loved and run and paid attention to. That's, along with the competitive price, the reason why we (including Daisy) love Silversmith. PS: The first time we came back from out of town and picked Daisy up, she INSTANTLY fell asleep in the back seat of the car. She was one happy, worn-out puppy. More...
