I highly recommend Daniel and Signature K9 training. I was very hesitant to send our labradoodle puppy away for 2 weeks but the results were amazing. She was so well mannered and the results persisted after her return. I loved how Daniel kept us updated with every step of her training and even sent cute photos and videos of her progress. LONG POST— SUMMARY OF IT IS PLEASE DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY. It’s taken me awhile to post my review of this company and I’m only now starting to get over the trauma this company has inflicted.
I sent my golden retriever puppy away for a two week board and train with the intentions of them helping fix his separation anxiety, walk better on leash, stop jumping, and just generally better obedience. He was already very good for being an 8 month old puppy, but there were just a couple behaviors I needed help eliminating.
I initially spoke with Lexus and she assured me that she would be able to help. A few days before he was supposed to go, I received a call saying that Lexus could no longer take him and he would be going with Mandy but all of the trainers worked together and would be able to give each support when needed.
When I got my dog back, nothing was different and my dog actually seemed to have worse separation anxiety than before and more negative behaviors. He also came back with a papilloma in his mouth for which I had to see a vet. I worked really hard with him for the next several days hoping it was just him getting used to being home. After I saw no signs of improvement, I asked for the follow up appointment to be moved up so that we could continue working on these behaviors and I never received a response.
I never received a personal response but did receive a generic text message from them asking for my review of the training and I told them I honestly felt like I had flushed $2000 down the toilet. Dan reached out very quickly to see what the problem was and to see if he could help. I sent him videos I had of my dog’s behavior and he agreed to come see us. He and Mandy came to my apartment and he was quite defensive. He kept asking me why I did things a certain way and I told him that is what Mandy had taught me and she agreed and said that is what she told me to do. At the end of this meeting, he offered for Mandy to take my dog for another ten days and would continue working on his skills and introduce off leash Ecollar training. He said he would be there to support her and make sure I was satisfied with the training.
Mandy texted me 5 days later saying she could drop him off after 8 days of training. I said that would work but I get off work late that night so she said she would drop him off the next day. I thought everything was going well, despite not receiving any training videos from her. I get a call from Lexus the day I was supposed to get my puppy back saying that they were going to keep him for another week (it honestly didn’t even feel like they were asking my permission). I initially agreed, but then became afraid that maybe he had been hurt or ran away (look for other post where owner was not notified when their dog ran away). I asked to pick him up that day and that I had already given them over 3 weeks with him and didn’t understand why I was just finding out that day that they needed more time. After an hour and a half of them giving me the run around and then telling me how sorry they were and that Mandy was on the verge of being terminated (I have the text messages if anyone would like to see), I was finally given the address where I could pick him up.
When I arrived, my goal was to get myself and my dog out of there safely. When she finally took me to my dog, he was shaking in a crate. Dan never reached out to me after this. I emailed him a few days later telling him how upset I was over the treatment of my dog and asked how he could put him back with a seemingly inept trainer that was on the verge of being fired after he promised me he would be there to help Mandy with the training. I asked for my money to be returned since NONE of the behaviors I wanted them to work on have improved. Dan responded with such disrespect and blamed me for pulling my dog out early. Dan took ZERO ownership of his trainer and her inability to train my dog. Do not trust this man with your dog. I felt bullied and belittled and worry that he would do the same to another trusting customer. I have emails if anyone would like to see how he spoke to me and decide for yourself if this is someone you’d like to do business with. I am still considering legal action, but wanted to share this post first so others do not make the same mistake I did. I fully expect that they will try to diminish everything I wrote, but I never write negative reviews and I absolutely don’t take the impact of a negative review lightly.

Hello Darcy, First, I would like to note that your consultation was originally scheduled with Lexus, but due to an emergency call, Mandy held your consultation instead. Lexus was never scheduled to take Bash and therefore this was never changed. Trainer Mandy was who you consulted with and hired. As we proved through screenshots, your message asking to move up your follow-up lesson was never received. The last time Mandy had spoken with you, you told her that you would let her know if the follow-up needed to be moved up. The first time I or anyone from my management team heard about your unsatisfactory experience was upon reading your reply to our review request. I immediately reached out to you to address your concerns. I personally took the time to come meet with you and evaluate Bash. This was the first time I had met you or handled Bash. During my evaluation, he did a perfect heel, perfect sit stays, a perfect place, and every command I asked him to on the first verbal cue. If Mandy had not trained Bash, he would not have been able to do any of those commands. During our visit, I was not asking you why you were doing things because I was being defensive. I asked because you were not doing things the correct way; such as correcting Bash before giving him a command, letting him forge on the heel, letting him jump, etc. Once we established that there was some miscommunication in the way Mandy explained things, I went ahead and explained it better for you. The reason dogs develop separation anxiety is because of how the owner interacts with their dog. So Darcy, the way that you interact with Bash is literally the reason Bash has separation anxiety and we tried our best to explain that to you. Although Bash’s obedience commands were up to standard, I did notice some residual behavioral issues. So, I offered to take him back for a 10 day E-Collar Board and train at NO COST to you. This package is normally $1250. There was about a month between the time we dropped Bash off from the first board and train and when we picked him up for the second. During that time, you decided to go against our professional advice and use your own shock collar on level 63. This set us back when he started his e-collar board and train, as he was already desensitized to the stimulation due to the over-stimulation of the shock collar you used. Even with the setback, we were able to successfully condition Bash to our e-collar. The day before he was scheduled to go home, Lexus and I discussed his progress and agreed that we wanted to keep him an extra few days/1 week max (FREE OF CHARGE). We decided this because we wanted to go the extra mile and ensure your second experience with us was better than the first. To our surprise, you were extremely unreasonable and proceeded to harshly accuse us of wrongdoings and assumed the training had not been accomplished. We tried to explain to you that all we were doing was polishing everything up so that the transition back home went as smoothly as possible. Again, you reacted unreasonably and against our recommendation came to pick up Bash. We tried reaching you by phone but you were at work, so you could only text. I assume that that’s why it took an hour and a half to get Lexus’s address, and not because we were giving you the runaround. Lexus has CCTV cameras on all the dogs in her home. We reviewed the cameras the day of the incident and we did not see any evidence of Bash shaking. We understand that you were emotional and may have thought he was shaking, but Bash was fine. Also, I do not know what or who made you fear for your's or Bash’s safety. We were more than cordial with you, and at no time jeopardized you or Bash’s safety. I did not reach out to you immediately after you took Bash home because you were very clear that you did not want any communication from us and stated that the relationship was ruined. I was simply giving you the space that you asked for. When you messaged me days later, I responded within the hour, and again took the time to explain to you that we were simply wanting to polish off Bash’s training because of the setback. You proceeded to belittle and degrade my staff, disrespect me, make false accusations, and demand your money back. I again tried to deescalate the situation by explaining the facts of the situation. However, they fell on deaf ears. You are the only person who has had this experience. We have successfully rehabilitated many dogs with behavior issues in the past, and Bash would have been just as successful if you had only been more cooperative and reasonable. Whether your personal expectations were met or not, the time was put in and the training was done. Therefore, I can not refund you for a service that was rendered. I have personally offered plenty of trainer support and free training on top of that. You simply refuse to listen to our guidance and do the training the way we’ve attempted to teach you. While I am always sorry to hear about a client's negative experience with my company, I am deeply offended by your lack of cooperation and erroneous allegation. Our attorney has been put on notice and we would gladly meet with you in court to disprove these false allegations. We lament you feel this way and the outcome but wish you and bash the best of luck. We purchased three private lessons and had Daniel as our trainer. We saw a great improvement in our dog after only one training session. We put in the work and it showed, our dog was really learning from the techniques that Daniel showed us. We completed the three sessions and I could not be any happier. My wife and I had previously used Signature K9 Academy for a 3-week Board and train with our, at that time, year old husky. We experienced amazing results in that time, so much so that we recently contacted Signature K9 to board our dog while we were away. Once again, the crew and Signature K9 exceeded our expectations. Not only is there property beautiful, spacious and incredibly conducive to dog play/training, we recieved daily updates with pictures and videos of our pup. Fine tuning and reinforcement of the training techniques was provided, so not only did I have reassurance that our dog was in great and loving hands, she was also reviewing the training she previously learned. I reached out to Signature K9 when I realized that my 1yo, Intact German Shepherd was showing some behavior issues that I did not know how to address. I am able to bring my dog "Leko" to work every day, which is great, but presented some challenges. At 1yo, Leko had never been away from me for more than a few hours, I could bring him almost everywhere, so I did, this led to some behavior problems related to lack of confidence. The first assessment that Trainer Lexus did with us was so eye opening. She saw exactly what his behavior patterns were and knew what he needed. More importantly, after watching Lexus interact with my dog I knew that I could have total confidence that he was being cared for, trained and loved on. A two week board and train was absolutely life changing for both Leko and I. His new confidence translated into less barking at strangers and increased ease around new people and situations. Since Lekos board and train, Trainer Lexus has been available for all sorts of questions and advice on how do address new issues and challenges. I could not have asked for a better experience with a trainer. Trainer Lexus has extensive background in dog training and it shows. The results speak for themselves. I have a "good" dog and we are still working off and on with Lexus to refine and improve. My husband and I are AMAZED! Our dog, Whiskey, just came back from a 3 week board and train with Daniel. He still has his quirky personality but now has manners. I didn’t think we’d ever be able to walk Whiskey without him pulling us and now not only does he walk right beside us on leash, he also walks right beside us off leash! And his place command!! When the door bell rings and we have someone coming over we put him in his “place”, he stays there until he is calm and we’re ready for him to be off. Not jumping all over our guests. Training and boarding with this company is one of the best things you can do for your dog - and yourself! We started talking to Danny from Signature K9 before we adopted a dog - and we couldn't be happier that we did. Danny made everything very easy for us from the get go, taking initiative in calling and carefully listening to us and what we were looking to achieve. He even came out to evaluate some of our options when we found ourselves torn on which dog to adopt. His wisdom and experience paved the way for a smooth adoption when we adopted our sweet husky mix girl Lumi on May 18th 2019. Danny held a lesson for us on how to properly introduce Lumi into our lives the day we brought her home. He gave us solid guidelines on how to start implementing a new family member into our daily life and everything worked out almost like magic! We also did a 2-week board and train which has easily been some of the best money we have ever spent! Lumi came back with a new set of skills and newfound confidence! The place command Danny perfected in the 2 weeks of training has been a life-changer for our family. Both Lumi and us have come out happier and more confident from our Signature K9 experience - which still continues, as Danny has been extremely forth coming with advice every time we've encountered a problem. Daniel is an absolute professional! My husky puppy was constantly counter surfing, jumping, pulling on leash, running on couches, and overall never listened. My pup was running me and I was ready to give up. After several other failed training groups, I decided to call Signature K9. Daniel is very responsive and knowledgeable. 2 minutes in to the consult, he had my husky listening and learning. After his 2 week board & train, he came back a NEW DOG. My neighbors and friends were shocked. I was amazed. It has been several months since the training and my pup is still sharp. For example- today I ordered in, food was here, dog ran to the door, I put him in “place”, opened the door, eat my food, released him off of place. If that isn’t a good dog then I don’t know what is! His leash manners are amazing, no jumping, commands are met and he isn’t a counter- surfer. My dog enjoys more freedom now because of it. During our recent follow up, Daniel gave me some tips on what I’ve been doing wrong that we’re really helpful, and I know that if any time I need some help, Daniel is a text away. 5 Stars Kudos to Daniel and Matt at Signature K9 for their work with our 1 yr old puppy, Willow! She came back from training a happy and well-behaved pup. She is much better on the leash and has learned place and to come when called. We can even open the door without her running out! We just got our six month puppy back from Mandy. He stayed with her for two weeks and came back such a good boy. He was jumping on our kids and stealing toys, barking at everything. Now he knows so much more and listens. I love how Mandy taught him place. We had six kids running by him and he just stayed and watched. It was amazing. Their 28 day board and train is fantastic. I would especially recommend it for every rescue dog. Doctor Pepper came to us as a 6 year old who had lived 5 years, mostly in the backyard. He had then gone to a Dalmatian rescue in Virginia for 6 months.When I saw his photo, I fell in love!.But the reality wasn't quite as lovable. His training had been pretty random, and he had a lot of bad habits, grabbing things, and counter surfing. He was basically unruly to put it bluntly. When he bit my husband twice, with no obvious trigger, and then tried a 3rd time, we seriously considered putting him down, but truly desired to give him the benefit of the doubt and try some serious training. Lexus came and met with us, and when she left our home she took Doc with her. She posted photos of his training, and gave us almost daily reports on how he was doing. When she brought him back to us, she spent several hours going through the training she had done, and how we could reinforce it at home. We have seen so much improvement in his behavior, and there hasn't been any problem with biting. He's good with our other dog, and now fits well into our family. When we first got a German Shepherd we had no idea what we were in for. After several months of trying to train our boy ourselves we knew we were in over our heads. Came to Signature K9 Training Academy for some tweaking on my dogs training because of bad training in the past. I was really hesitant on having pay for extra training for it to probably not work out but least to say a big thank you to Mandy for taking Goliath and getting him right. I would also like to thank Daniel for giving me good insight on how the past training had affected Goliath and why he acted how he did. I can’t thank the trainers at Signature K9 Training Academy enough and in the future when I get another dog I plan on coming back to them for training. Amazing K9 trainers!! I was trying to train my 10 month toy Aussie commands on my own, but not having any luck. I wanted to put her in a stay and train program, but after reading a couple of articles, I was concerned the training would cause Zoey to lose her quirky personality and come back to me fearful. I heard about trainer Daniel from the radio and contacted him. I told Daniel my concerns and instead of being on the defensive, he was professional and able to address them. I decided to put Zoey in the 21 day board and train curriculum. Daniel kept me in the loop throughout the whole process by sending me photos and videos of my little wiggle butt and the sideways walk that Aussies are known for when excited. Another reason I like Signature K9 Training Academy, is that Zoey stayed in the trainer's home and was not left alone during the night. This was another one of my concerns because Zoey sometimes has stomach issues. Daniel and Zoey's trainer, Janelle, went the extra mile to find treats/food that her stomach tolerated. I could go on and on about Daniel and Janelle, but what I am most impressed with is their passion in training Zoey and getting dramatic results. I am so thankful I found out about Trainer Daniel. My little Zoey was returned to me knowing her commands. I am so proud of my fur baby. Although Daniel did a great job going over Zoey's commands with me, I was nervous as if I was a new mom. After the training was complete and Zoey received her certificate, I contacted Daniel with questions and he immediately responded and again put my fears at ease. He even sent me a list of the commands and what to do if she breaks command. Daniel assured me we are a "team" in Zoey's training process. Don’t over think, hire Daniel now! We bought a standard poodle last summer and loved him from day 1...or rather, we only loved him the first day we brought him home! He was bad from the getgo. Playful biting that sometimes caused blood shed, pooping in the house, counter surfing, not listening, and running away were just a few things coco did wrong every day. We tried training classes ourselves but unless you have hours of free time every day you need K9 expertise. Coco spent 3 weeks with daniel and is now an amazing dog and a happy part of our family. I am so thankful We found Signature K9 training Academy. We brought our rescue pup home and needed help ASAP. Lexus was incredible from the moment she answered the phone. About a month ago I desperately contacted Danny De La Pena who had attended to one of our networking events as a sponsor and had been recommended by my friend Kristi France. Daniel was at my house in just few hours after our chat. I will never forget I wrote him “help me or this dog will need a new home” and he said “is it that bad?” Well, he came and saw it with his eyes. My level of frustration as a pet owner. I loved working with Signature K9 Training Academy in Austin. My pup, Chloe, went in for obedience and behavioral modification. She doesn't always get along with other dogs and I needed help keeping her under control for her safety and the safety of other pets. Living in an apartment this was problematic considering how difficult it was to take her out into public or around town with me. After training with Signature I now feel comfortable taking her to tailgates and other places around town with me. She's under control and has so much more fun on walks around town. Her fear issues will always be something we work on, but with Signature helping I feel educated enough to keep up the training they instilled in Chloe and keep her and other pups safe while we're out in public. Plus they board dogs they've trained previously, so I know she'll be staying with someone that understands her and will enforce the training they taught her. I love that they train in home with real world scenarios rather than a facility to leave pets in over night. They were amazing to work with. A dog we had rescued had serious issues with guarding high value items that he didn’t want to give up. This isn’t safe for a dog to do and it makes them hard to place as a rescue. So we called Lexus to our house. She evaluated Cooper and felt that in board training was best to correct this behavior. Lexus was sueccesfully able to address his bad behavior during this time. He learned that “out” meant drop whatever is in your mouth immediately! Cooper has since been placed in a great home and he is thriving! So glad to have found Lexus so that Cooper can have the amazing life he always deserved. More...

United K9 was VERY professional and good to my dog Roxy! She is a rescue and had no obedience training what so ever. Sadly she was also petrified of men due to beatings and being shot with bb guns. Danny her trainer went above and beyond to make her the new happy dog she is today. She is now very obedient and obeys commands on the spot! She is also open and calm with everyone now including men! She is definitely a happier puppy and enjoying life now! United K9 Academy is the best and I highly recommend them especially for rescues. The staff at United K9 Austin is incredibly professional and attentive to your dogs needs. My husband and I were first time dog owners and enrolled our new pup in the puppy head start program. We worked with trainer Daniel, who has taught our puppy all of the necessities for a well-trained family dog. Daniel was easy to work with, easy to communicate with, and clearly cared about our dog just as much as we do. He exceeded our expectations for what our puppy could do, and even taught us much needed knowledge about puppy-owning, like the vaccinations we need to give our dog and milestones she should hit. Throughout the boarding process, Daniel provided us with updates, videos, and pictures of our puppy so we could watch her progress. I did the 14 day board and train to work on leash manners, place and socialization with a baby. Before my dog went I was being dragged by my dog on walks and was afraid he would get too excited and hurt my newborn. Now I lead the walks and I can put my newborn on her play at on the ground and put my dog in a place command and not have to worry about him hurting her.
