Great saffron gnocchi heavy handed on the saffron and good quality. A bit pricey on appetizers.. and in general I mean its good im usually disappointed with pricey food usually very wannabe but the appetizer still too much and not enough balsamic where necessary. I've been to this location on several occasions. They are always busy, so get a reservation for a special date night. Although I have come in without a reservation a couple of times they still accommodated my party in 20 minutes which I really appreciate. The service is wonderful. The interior is open with intimate tables lined with clothed tables. There is a dessert counter that showcases whats available. My favorite are the profiteroles - they are like cream puffs with a mountain of chocolate mousee, perfect to share or take home. They bring out house bread with 3 different types of olive oil dipping sauces: tomato, artichoke, and balsamic. We had several types of gnocchi which is SUPER YUM! The gamberi comes with a large shelled shrimp which the server was kind enough to de-shell for me. It also has pieces in the pasta and the main flavor is of saffron (the most expensive spice on earth) it had lots of strands and they prepped it properly because you could taste it throughout the dish. However the gnocchi quattro formaggi is by favorite the classic Italian cheese make the dish. We had the house special signature dish Spaghetti Carbonara which is made in a huge cheese wheel set on fire in a pan. It was AMAZING! My only disappointment and the reason for not full 5 stars is that I cannot eat pancetta and they would not substitute this with some other protein (chicken/shrimp) or even veggies on the side for me - and for $24 - that's a pretty expensive albeit tasty cheese spaghetti. My husband always gets the Bistecca al Rosemarino and loves it. Finishes his plate. We've had the fresh burrata which is soft and luscious especially if you're a cheese fan like myself. The Arancine are rice balls are forgettable, skip that. Perfect place for a date night or to celebrate. You can tell there are a local Italians that frequent this joint because I saw a family with a stroller there that was very comfortable. This place definitely reminds me of my honeymoon in Italy. Wow! I can't believe how much I loved this place! I like Italian but I don't like the heavy carbs, I like pasta as long as it's mixed with other things, and I particularly don't like the price tag on authentic Italian places (when I traveled in Italy with friends, we cooked in our airbnbs, went out to eat very rarely). I'd heard Sicilia Mia was delicious and authentic, so I wanted to give it a try. Plus, it's right next door to Sumac, which I love, and both are near my workplace so are convenient for lunch.First, the restaurant is cute. The tables are set up nicely, they have a fireplace which is awesome in winter, and the decor is nice. The waiter who greeted us was super friendly and changed the music for me when I requested Italian music. That same waiter turned out to be our waiter (we were the only people in the restaurant for like an hour) and he was the best waiter ever. I ordered a pasta with eggplant. The pasta was Strozzapreti (I had to look it up later) and it was good. I love house-made pasta! The sauce was delicious and the eggplant was done right. Also... there were a LOT of veggies in that dish! It wasn't all pasta with a touch of sauce and some sprinkling of veggies--it was an actual balanced dish. And it was definitely a meal on its ownWe weren't sure of the portions when we ordered, so we got a lot of food.We tried the bruschetta, and it was GREAT! The bread was toasted and smoky, topped with lots and lots of tomatoes, and a bit of cheese and balsamic. Yum.My sister tried one of the salads and it was quite good, although probably not a meal on its own unless you aren't that hungry.Then my sister also got the gorgonzola chicken. A generous chicken breast with lots of delicious sauce, topped with sage! The sage flavor was great although you don't need to eat the leaves, just let them soak in the sauce. The meat dishes do come with some pasta, in this case some spaghetti (or similar) with basic tomato sauce, which was fine. They brought out parmesan and fresh ground pepper to top the dishes. Oh, and we had dessert. They don't have a dessert menu--they bring it out on a tray and show you. We had panna cotta, mango-chocolate-coconut, and it was delicious. In conclusion, the food was amazing and I would go back, even though pasta is not on my diet. The price is not unreasonable. A little pricey for lunch if you get more than 1 thing, but it's such a nice atmosphere. (And they expect a larger tip according to the helpful numbers on the receipt.) Update 12/2/19I have to qualify this update by stating that the manager  read my review, we chatted and she sent me a gift card with a couple suggestions to try again. It started out with the restaurant being out of the bread used to make paninis... which took one  whole section off of the menu. I understand that supply issues sometimes happen, but proper management should minimize this.I had the Gnocci this time at the managers suggestion. I specifically had the Gnocci Gamberi E Zucchini with has cheese filled Gnocci, shrimp, and zucchini in a cream sauce. It was very, very good! I recommend it (as long as you don't mind the one whole shrimp staring at you... ha ha. And the price was decent at $15 (roughly). I added one star from 3 to 4 stars. This took This place seems to struggle a bit at lunch time... there was a table of 5 and me... at 12:15 on the Monday after Thanksgiving.  No one else came or left the entire time. My only thought after dining here was: "Why didn't I come here sooner?"I made a reservation online and the process was simple. I was seated right away. Being a Monday night, the place was quite filled. I was greeted by a nice gentleman who gave his recommendations for entrees. We were brought bread with three different dipping sauces. We ordered the ravioli funghi and the tagliatelle de nonna. We didn't wait long until our plates arrived. We dug in and looked at each other like "Holy crap, this is amazing!" Each bite of my ravioli was bursting with rich flavors which complimented the mushroom greatly. The tagliatelle had the perfect al dente texture coated by a lovely pungent and aromatic taste of tomato sauce.The waiter gave us extra bread to clean the sauce off the plates. It was wonderful! I have eaten spaghetti carbonara many times in both LA and NYC.  I would say this ranks top 3 in my entire life. (Lived in Italy for a year - so high expectations). Prepared table side - the attention to detail and experience made for a good time! However our server, Claudio made a good time become a great time. His passion in describing the wine choice, our non stop conversations and a mutual appreciation for everything a dining experience should be. My little sister and her husband were way early and I was late. Got there 45 minutes before closing.They were out of the truffle asparagus and also didn't have any desserts. Loved their appetizers, especially the Spinaci Burrata which was sautéed spinach, pine nuts, raisins, mozzarella and olive oil. The Arancine tradizional which were rice balls, bolognese, and Sicilian tomato sauce. Caprese di Melenzane which was grilled eggplant, sliced tomato and fresh mozzarella.Also the Carpaccio was quite delicious too. Sicilia Mia does not disappoint! Our server was Claudio, his stories and personality is like a comedian. He is also very attentive and mindful of his guests. The food was amazing as well. We ordered the Tagliere del Padrino appetizer, it was like it's own entrée, a charcuterie board that tastes so good you'll probably fill up too much for your full dinner. Love love love Sicilia Mia. I have never had fresh pasta before but my mom has and said it is identical to the pasta dishes she had in Italy. Everything on the menu is delicious. We tried all of their salads and got the spaghetti carbonara, gnocchi Gorgonzola and the salmon. All of the dishes were amazing. The pasta is very rich but so delicious. The restaurant is small and has few tables but my mom said that's how it is in Italy as well, so they do a good job of making you have the full Italian experience. Will definitely be coming back! INCREDIBLE!!!!! Everything was just amazing, the service was exceptional. Our waiter Stein was beyond amazing and really made our dinning experience and let's not forget to mention the gentleman that sings while preparing your pasta in front of you! Sorry didn't get his name but don't worry you'll know who it is when you dine in. As soonest you walk in you're greeted and seated promptly. The decor is super cute and you definitely get that Sicilian feel. They make I think everything in house because everything was mouth drooling amazing. BEST PASTA IVE EVER HAD! Too bad I live in CA otherwise I'd would be here every week trying everything on their menu!
