Siân and her team were so brilliant - firstly with the alterations to my wedding dress to make it fit perfectly and then also when I went back to have it made into a mini dress after the wedding! She was so friendly, communicative and had great design ideas and an understanding of how alterations would change the dress (given this is their speciality). Sian was an absolute dream, when I arrived at her studio 6 days before my wedding having just bought a new dress in a bit of a tizz she was a miracle worker! Wedding dress alteration and design. Sian and Amy quickly and professionally altered and reconstructed my Rime Arodaky wedding dress. Having bought the dress as a sample and 3 sizes too big, the dress needed a lot of work to repair and resize. Sian and Amy were incredibly friendly and were able to completely reconstruct the dress so it fits perfectly and looks like new. Last week I had the pleasure of visiting this company Shimmering Ivory with my only daughter for her forthcoming wedding dress fitting, as any mother of the bride, i was completely emotional by her beauty. However, I was overwhelmed by this company, completely bespoke can do alterations, designs made to your request. It's not a shop to buy off the peg, its a working workshop, based in Harpenden and a bit off the beaten track (needs more advertising I think!) It's an absolute pleasure to visit , professional, friendly, welcoming and totally relate to your needs. There is also a beautician on site, all up to date treatment. Amazing experience!!! I took my daughter here to get a prom dress tailored. The dress was a size 14 and my daughter is a size 8. Originally i thought maybe she wouldn't be able to do it . Incredibly she did. Sian managed to fit the dress down all the way to a size 8 . Would give zero stars if I could. My sister asked for a simple alteration to her prom dress and Sian has absolutely ruined the dress, the mistakes that she made cannot be rectified. Whilst Sian did refund the cost of the “alteration” she is still out of pocket for the cost of the dress but what is most upsetting is that the dress is no longer available to buy so she is unable to replace it she’s devastated as she’s been so excited for her prom and spent so many hours finding her dream dress. I would advise not to use this company!! Update after response from owner 31/05/2022: First of all you are now making loads of fake reviews for yourself pretty obvious now you suddenly have 5* reviews appearing from people who have only ever left one review and such over dramatic “prom dress saved stories”. And just to confirm the Dress was a US SIZE 8 When initially contacting you, you said this was something you could easily do and now you’re saying it’s complicated. On the first visit you cut the dress which caused the problem as you said to my sister you didn’t know why it was so wide and by doing this it changed the design of the dress and also caused the design to be uneven. On the first fitting after the alteration my sister pointed out to you the flowers on either side looked uneven and you said you hadn’t touched them when you had literally cut them in front of her on the first visit also the straps on the back were also not in the correct place and also uneven you then started saying it was because of this reason and that reason. A refund wasn’t requested you offered a refund as you said you felt so bad and the reason why we said to leave the dress as my sister had been there for 2-3 hours hours and the mistakes couldn’t be rectified we took the dress to another dressmaker which also confirmed that the dress couldn’t be fixed So although you are saying it was a unique experience for someone to leave with a dress full of pins it was pointless and a waste of everyone’s time as like I said these mistakes couldn’t be rectified The dress was beautiful but it was ruined and she hasn’t found another dress that’s why I would advise anyone not to trust you with their dress More...
