STAY HERE!!!!While the room was comfortable (albeit fairly simple- it has everything you need, not every luxury you can imagine) the staff was beyond friendly and accommodating. My partner and I arrived earlier than our check in time and needed a quick turn around on a room so we could be prepared for a wedding I was photographing. The staff was able to complete clean up a room in 15 minutes (enough time for us to walk and get a coffee up the street). Shaver Lake itself is beautiful and this hotel is conveniently located in the middle of it. We were to come through town again I'd certainly stay here More...

Stayed in the cowboy cabin and loved it! nice clean and cozy. The check in was easy the lady in the office was welcoming and friendly she gave us maps to all the snow parks. Only con was one of the housekeepers was EXTREMELY RUDE she came and started telling us we needed to hurry up and leave so she can clean our room and we tried to tell her that we got the ok to stay a extra hour and she just complained and said she had been working there for 7 years. And continued to stomp around us and made us feel really uncomfortable as we were leaving . Other then that we loved it and sad we had to leave on that note but we will definitely be staying there again. More...

I absolutely loved this adorable room.. Was originally disappointed that the place we previously stayed was booked, but this was the first recommendation. The High Sierra suite was a very cute, rustic cabin with the most comfortable bed. All of the staff members were beyond friendly and helpful. And the surroundings and view right outside the door can't be beat. Will definitely stay here again! More...

I've been coming here for years. It's about time I say something good as it's well deserved. This place is cute, clean, grounds are well kept, camping like, string lighting throughout the property and employees are nice and accommodating. Pet friendly and walking distance to the cute town of shaver. Each cabin is different so do your research but you won't be disappointed. If you like being outdoors, check this place out! More...

They were like little cabins with shared camp sites to make fires. It was the best experience. We will definitely go back. More...

Stayed at this great hotel over the weekend to celebrate my birthday with some friends. I booked the Sierra House Suite which had plenty of room. The suite is located across the street from check-in and a quick walk / short drive from several restaurants / bars in town. The full size refrigerator and kitchen area was a plus. The living room area had surprisingly comfy couches and led towards a cozy deck w/ seating that overlooked the road. The beds were comfy and the suite has a good layout that separates the bedrooms/bathrooms/living area. I was looking for a quaint mountain hotel with a rustic feel for a small group of friends and this place hit the mark. Looking forward to staying in some of the other uniquely themed rooms. More...

Just all around wonderful! Such a charming little mountain town. We were able to snag a room earlier than the posted check in time which was very nice after a 4 hour drive. The room was clean, comfortable and so cute! They maintain a country cabin theme throughout the property. I didn't see a microwave or fridge advertised, but they were in the room along with the coffee maker and VCR which also plays Blu-ray movies as well as regular ones that you can borrow from the front office. There are fire pits and plenty of barbecue grills throughout. We grilled steaks, potatoes, and ribs both nights we were there. We saved plenty of money between cooking your own dinners and the free breakfast buffets in the mornings. EVERY employee we met there were so friendly and chatty. 4 minutes up the road and also 7 minutes up the road are fantastic views of the lake and the areas are wide open making it perfect to view the stars at night. There is a general store right next-door to the hotel that sells a little bit of everything! There are also local bars and restaurants and other little shops within walking distance from the hotel. China Peak ski resort is just a short 30 minute drive up the road.We are already planning on coming back during the summer to go hiking, boating and fishing. I can't wait! More...

I had a wonderful experience here at the Shaver Lake Village Hotel. The staff does an amazing job on welcoming you into the community and making you feel welcomed as if it was your home. I truly enjoy the ambience, it's relaxing and enjoyable to be here. The staff is absolutely magnificent, they go above and beyond to meet and attend any expectations one might have. I am up here for work and it has been a wonderful experience and now I'll be vacationing here because of the experience I've had. My only complaint that I have is the lady at the front desk. Her name is Amanda she was rude and impolite. When I would come to the office for help she did the exact opposite. She did not really care to attend or give a helping hand. I asked her about extending my stay and she practically ignored me then said hey leave me your number and I'll call you back. So I did just that and never received a phone call back from her. The very next day there was a gentleman by the name of Graig and I asked him about extending my stay and he was extremely happy to help me. He was able to figure out my stay  and I could not ask for better hospitality that he provided. More...

My fiancé, my dog, and I stayed at the Bear Den during the Memorial Day weekend and we had an amazing time! The office has continental breakfast that includes cereal, Bear Claws, bagels, orange juice, coffee and tea. The office also had a great choice of DVDs and Blu Ray that you can rent during your stay free of charge on an honor system. Our Bear Den had 2 entrances: 1 in the front and 1 for the bedroom. The cabin was comfortable and had a heater in the living room and in the bathroom right above the toilet. The cabin came stocked with a mini fridge, a microwave, 1 tv in the living room with the DVD/Blu Ray player and 1 tv in the bedroom. At night, the hotel grounds is illuminated well and people can enjoy some peace and quiet under the stars either on the swing set that encircles a fire pit, or other neighboring fire pits that are conveniently placed throughout the grounds. For individuals with handicapabilities, I would highly recommend utilizing their hotel rooms rather than cabins as their cabins have stairs and are placed on slopes with unpaved surfaces. The cabins and hotels are in walking distance to a lot of the food and grocery/convenient stores and is a 3 mile drive to Shaver Lake, and is right next door to Ken's Market which sells anything and everything you might need! I would highly recommend staying in these cabins and hotels for those of you enjoying Shaver Lake! More...

Booked a one night stay just to get away. We reserved room 4 but upon arrival asked what else was available. Greg was awesome and offered to show us the High Sierra Suite which we immediately snagged and it was well worth the added cost. It had a full kitchen and plenty of space for two. Bed was super comfy and although a bit cold upon arrival, the heater worked so well that we had to turn it off to sleep. It was snowing when we got up the mountain but was expected to clear. Greg offered to bring over a fire pit and when we were ready he had it set up in a matter of minutes. He gave us some pointers for around town and said to call at anytime for anything. Talk about customer service. I will also mention that although the suite is attached to a couple other units we never heard anything from other guests. We will definitely be back! I stayed here Sat Nov 19th. I was only coming up to Shaver Lake for some business and wasn't expecting to stay for too long and visit, so I was just looking for a place to crash. Frankly a Motel-6 would have suited my needs. But the Shaver Lake Village Hotel is a pretty nice place, if you're into the 'pine-wood paneled and ceiling and bear carving' kitsch. I'm not against it, but I'm not a terrific fan either. It is more tasteful and, ahem, restrained than some I've seen. There's one long building with 6 rooms, I think and then 4-6 cabins strewn about. I stayed in the long building. The room was clean. 2 double beds of the 'you need a step stool to climb into them' sort. It was very comfortable. My dogs would've loved them. Ceiling fan and windows for cooling, individual gas heater for warmth, which more than sufficed.  I do wish they'd give out more substantial bed clothing, as it was I had to get up in the middle of the night to turn up the heat, but it did warm the room enough to satisfy me.Bathroom was clean. The water was hot. And the guests in the hotel were pretty quiet (which does get it higher marks than Motel-6) The continental breakfast was adequate, not inspired, but there were plenty bagels, packeted pastries, granola, oatmeal and plenty of coffee. The two caretaker/managers I interface with were friendly, quick, competent and helpful. The town is small, so you can walk most everywhere you need. I think the cabins have cooking capabilities, but not the rooms. Cost was $113/night. If I need to go to Shaver Lake again, I'll definitely consider it, but if I'm bringing my dogs, probably not. They only allow 1 dog per room, and my wife and I each have a dog, so that pretty much puts Shaver Lake Village Hotel out of the running for us. More...

We rented the 2 story with 2 spacious bedrooms upstairs with 3 beds in each room, each room had a tv, the down stairs had a nice size bathroom, kitchen, living room and small nook. I just spent the weekend hear and it was awesome. It was far enough away from China Peak, the snow parks, and Huntington Lake that we avoided the major traffic. We rented the bunk house for the weekend. The only inconveniences were the website wasn't updated to where it was stated that there was not a mini fridge or microwave which I assumed was there. Also, as you walk in, there is a tv and small built in shelf to your left that I hit my head on the sharp corner and had to lay down from since I hit pretty hard. That shelf is very inconveniently located. The small heater took a long time to heat the room as well and the walkways are not very well cleared during the winter which made for very icy paths and lead to slipping into the cabins. I give this hotel 4 stars because despite the downsides of the actual hotel, the service is amazing and the staff is very friendly. The other visitors were also very pleasant. More...

I think the window is not well insulated. The room was not cleaned in the 4 days we stayed and we had to ask for fresh towels. I'm not sure if that's just what they do. But usually your room gets cleaned when staying that many days at a hotel. But it wasn't that big of a deal to us. The room did have a fridge and microwave.Only downside was the noisy guests. Kids making noise occasionally and their dog that would bark at random times like 4am when I'm trying to sleep. All in all...I would recommend and stay here again. More...
