So first I will say the owner's personality is very dry, so much so that I asked him if he was former law enforcement when we first spoke. That aside, his work ethic and expertise, as well as that of the people who work for him, are second to none. The team at Preferred Intelligence found my stolen property, thoroughly documented every aspect of their investigation, and were unrelenting in their quest to pass their evidence over to law enforcement. Surprisingly, even with his dry personality, the owner was able to keep me calm when I would get angry with the police detective handling my case. He explained the many issues with one's average private investigators, including the failure to even obtain required licenses, and how police are reluctant to work with or take evidence from them. The owner explained the necessity for the strictly controlled, measured actions of his investigators. Toward the end, he also explained that relaying to the police detective the existence of this strict policy is what eventually made him concede and accept their evidence. All in all, Preferred Intelligence investigators are well worth every dollar I paid them. After a contractor disappeared with $10K of my money, and my attorney's process server couldn't find him, Mr. Shafer said "if you have the patience and the money, I have the time and can find just about anyone. Let me show you the difference between the average licensed investigator, and a Texas Board Certified Investigator." Not only did Mr. Shafer and his people find the contractor, but he personally took over the process service and made sure it was handled properly, legally, and within all court rules for proper notice (we had a court date and were asking jail time for contempt).
