Just had Scoop here for my daughters Birthday entertaining ages from 9 to 85 including hard to please teenagers! Paul performed close up magic for our guests at our charity dinner last night and he was AMAZING! I couldn’t recommend him more, he was brilliant at the drinks reception mingling with guests and keeping them entertained. Then he moved around the tables very well between courses during dinner to keep the evening moving. My husband and I booked Paul for our festival themed wedding in August of this year. We booked him for 2 hours for when the guests were arriving through to when people were sat waiting for their plates to be collected/ waiting to collect food from the buffet at the wedding breakfast. Paul is incredible. We were absolutely gobsmacked at the tricks he was performing and there was not one single person there that was disappointed. How long have you been interested in magic?
I took up magic as a kid in 1987 and have been doing it as a full time professional since 2002.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
My close up performances involve amazing stunts with cards, money, lottery tickets, ropes and objects borrowed from the audience.
in my cabaret show I open by turning a lit candle into a white silk right before their eyes, another candle turns into a real dove which then disappears and reappears in a spectator's hands.
I then warm up, literally, with comedy fire juggling, followed by body burns and fire eating. If fire is not allowed at the venue I juggle machetes over an audience member instead.
For my next trick I lose someone's jewellery and it turns up in a very surprising place. Then with the help of a little 'suggestion' my volunteers start literally jumping out of their seats.
Next I teach one of the children an important life lesson about fun while performing the impossible with a balloon before performing a knife throwing card trick with a beautiful lady from the audience.
Finally I open an envelope that has been on view the entire show to reveal my impossible foreknowledge. Is it psychic power? Psychological control? Or is everything we do already written in the stars?
What do you love most about your job?
Meeting new people and putting that look of wonder in their eyes and a smile on their faces.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It's the only way to be a magician and that is what I wanted to do.
