What kind of accounting services do you provide?
We provide reconciliation for your accounts on a monthly basis. This allows you to track transactions such as lost checks and deposits. Reconciliation also helps in fraud protections and ensures banks are posting transactions correctly. Additionally, it will alert you to any inside fraud that may be occurring. Knowing where your business is is crucial, so we also provide Income statements, Balance sheets and General Ledger entries and corrections.
Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
Tracking your business is a full time endeavor. Unless your business is accounting, you need to be doing other things, like running your business. A good accountant will give you the information necessary to make not just okay, but truly informed business decisions such as: Do I have enough cash flow to make payroll for the next two months? How much am I spending per month on supplies? Is my debt to credit ratio enough to ask for that business loan? These decisions can be made quicker and without as much hand wringing if you have that information readily available. Most businesses think they cannot afford good bookkeeping or an accountant, I say, you can't afford not to have one.
What do you love most about your job?
The best thing about bookkeeping is seeing the growth mentally and monetarily of my clients. Information is powerful and it is vital that businesses know where they are at all times. Once a client understands this you can literally see changes in how they conduct themselves and their business. Also, I learn quite a bit from every client and it is almost inevitable that we become, in some cases, more that business partners, more like extended family.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After working at the IRS for over 30 years it was a natural progression to help others on the opposite side of where I'd been for many years. Becoming an Enrolled Agent has allowed me to represent my clients in front of the IRS in all 50 states. Having the procedural knowledge of the system while inside has helped me become "lethal" on the outside!
