This past weekend we had our maternity photos taken by Sariah. Not only was the end result of the photos amazing, but working with her was fun and easy! Where do I start?!! Sariah and I have been Facebook friends for at least 4 years . Ive watched her through her pregnancy, school and her passion for photography and we had never met until this past tuesday Sept 5th when she took our engagement pictures. I reached out to her pretty much last minute and she made it happen! She is truly gifted when it comes to the camera and her surroundings. She is professional yet fun, she does not rush and she pays attention to every detail. We needed one picture for our upcoming pre wedding party this Sunday, she had the photos uploaded and ready to go through by the next morning so I could pick the photo for the party. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
You have to be comfortable and part of my job is to help you. If you're stressed, it will show. If you're nervous, it will show. If you're uncomfortable, it'll show. HOWEVER, if you're happy, excited, enjoying yourself, and relaxed, you'll see a whole new side of yourself in the images. It's more than just having a fancy camera (even though that is a huge aspect), it's about the experience!
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Some questions I might ask a client when starting a new project is what they are needing the images for, what type of backdrop they prefer, and if they will need prints in addition to the digital images.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping my clients see them as I see them. I love allowing my work be a way for them to remember just how beautiful they are at any given moment. I love laughing with my clients and learning more about them. I love capturing families coming together. I love capturing couples falling in love all over again. I love preserving the feelings of obsession new parent exude over their new baby. I love capturing cherished memories!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always had a secret love in my heart for photography but never thought I could possibly do it for a living. Then, when my daughter was 6 months old, I got a nice camera to takes pictures of her. That progressed to my learning my camera and eventually shooting in manual mode (which is a big deal for new photographers). I remember praying that if this is the path I was supposed to be on make it as plan as day and undeniable. Obviously, the doors started flying open and the path was illuminated beyond what I could have ever imagined.
Why should our clients choose you?
Your clients should choose me because they like me and feel comfortable around me. I have to earn their trust to get the most authentic, genuine representation of who they are. I am knowledgeable about posing and not afraid to climb into a bush or tree if that means getting the "perfect" angle. Most importantly, my passion for what I do comes out in every session and I make it seem, in most of my dad's and groom's words, "not too bad".
