"I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy!" Dropping to my knees in pure wonderment, bowing in her direction repeatedly. Am I being dramatic, you ask? More like underselling! There truly aren't words that I could convey to describe the magic Sarah creates behind the lens, but humor me as I attempt. Living in California, I'm used to overpaying for mediocre everything. This is typically the name of the game. The thought of spending $8,000 for a photographer I wasn't crazy about was keeping me up at night; but unfortunately was our reality. It never occurred to me to reach outside of our overpriced-California-bubble, until a good friend was researching for her own Wedding. At first I thought she was nuts, considering photographers in Hawai'i, Washington, Arizona, Oregon; and initially wrote off her notion. Enter, Sarah Willey. Upon the first "check this photographer out" text, I was hooked. It was a done deal in my head, but still I grappled with the idea of travel costs, distance, unfamiliarity with the area, etc. etc. etc. Upon my first contact and phone conversation with Sarah, all those concerns melted away. She was immediately my favorite person. She was down to earth, bubbly, funny, professional, and her price packages were unbeatable. Too good to be true? It wasn't. She was everything and more. And she delivered. This is where my words turn into head nods, shoulder shrugs, teary eyes, and hand claps. In other words, THERE ARE NO WORDS. What she captured on our Wedding day, is purely indescribable magic. I don't know how she did it. Each photo encapsulated the raw emotion we felt in each moment, from our first look, to our vows, to the food, decor, dance floor, everything was perfectly captured in a forever keepsake. Sarah is not only an absolutely amazing photographer, but also a kind, funny, and easy going person. Which makes for an incredibly comfortable shoot with top notch photos. We had an amazing time working with Sarah! We did a winter mini session and our toddler was not having anything to do with it, between falling in down in the first few minutes and the cold rainy weather. If you are looking into Sarah and her team to be your wedding photographer, chances are you don’t need this review because you already can see that she is worth every penny that you will pay, no matter what package you get. She is not the cheap photographer as far as price is concerned, let me be clear though. Do not try and talk her down, do not ask her for a discount because you know her, and don’t you dare say to her that you have another photographer that will do it for less. If you want to look back at your pictures and have them make you feel the magic that you remembered so vividly on your wedding day, then Sarah’s portfolio will do that and more. My wife first booked Sarah for a Mother’s Day special session. Sarah suggested an amazing venue near our home and was there early waiting for us when we arrived, and the pictures turned out amazing. Next, we booked her for our wedding, and the engagement photo shoot was crazy. Meeting us at sunrise, Sarah took us from one beautiful location to the next. She did a great job of making us feel like we were having fun even though we are both so awkward at taking photos together. The wedding... Sarah played the role of photographer, artist, ninja, stress therapist, and friend. She was so flexible working with us around our schedule for the day, and she rolled with it when we moved up the picture time last minute on her. Not only did she have an amazing eye for her own photo ideas and opportunities, but when our videographer was asking us to do things, she was sneaky and took advantage of some great shots. We got highlight pictures back within a week, and the full photo set back earlier than the agreed upon window. The pictures are amazing. My wife and I are absolutely floored by how lucky we are that we have pictures that depict how we FELT that day. We were very lucky with all of our wedding vendors, but Sarah was by far a highlight. I would not even think twice to hire Sarah again (not that we plan on another wedding in our future, but you know what I mean). The point is, if your wedding photos are important to you, I don’t care if you think the price is too high for your budget, stretch it for this. Sarah and her team are absolutely amazing, professional, and detail oriented! In our first shoot, we were surrounded by over a thousand people and the lighting wasn’t right, so without skipping a beat, Sarah rescheduled and accommodated a second shoot. Sarah love for photography translated into how sweet and focused she was during our shoot. On the day of our wedding, Kathleen (her assistant) was the main photographer. My husband and I cannot stop talking about how great Sarah was for our wedding - and she seriously saved us at the last minute! We thought we had someone lined up for our photography, but they ended up canceling. Luckily, when I reached out to Sarah she happened to be available (only because we had a Monday wedding - if you’re getting married on a weekend be sure to book early!) I really wanted a photographer with a vibrant, colorful style and we definitely found that in Sarah. It was also important to us that we could feel like ourselves on our big day and not feel too “staged” or posed in a way we wouldn’t feel natural, and Sarah was awesome at making us feel comfortable. She had the perfect sense of when to let us be goofy, but also was able to capture very sincere, heartfelt moments. We are so happy that we hired Sarah to photograph our wedding! Sarah completely understood the colorful, vibrant vibe I wanted and was totally down to run around downtown with us making my wedding photo dreams come true! Sarah has an amazing energy and personality. Coming into our engagement session, we were nervous and worried about how that would reflect in our photos. Upon meeting Sarah and her precious pup Oti, we felt comfortable and had a blast. She really knows how to create a fun relaxed environment all while staying super professional. And don't get me started on her photography skills. We love every single picture in our engagement collection, it was extremely hard to narrow down our favorites from a whopping 435 awesome images. And that was only our engagement shoot! The minute we walked away from our session we were anxious to see what she had captured. Sarah gave us beautiful family photos with our 1 year old son, who was not always easy to work with! Sarah was patient with all of us, happy, encouraging, creative and always worked around what our son needed or wanted to do. She was never frustrated even though my husband and I were. Sarah did our engagement and wedding photos and ROCKED IT! For our engagement photos she went above and beyond after I mentioned doing a few photos at Salt and Straw where we had our first date. She was so flexible waiting in line and really knows how to make you feel so confident and comfortable in front of the camera. When I hired Sarah to do my engagement and wedding photos I knew we would get incredible photos. What I didn't know is that she would be my right hand person, getting me baby wipes because I was sweating or going to put a candle on my table because it smelled nice. Sarah was recommended to me by someone I hadn’t ever met before that day and she just raves about her work and how nice she is, (this person wasn’t able to book her due to a date conflict and still raved about her). I sent her a message and I’m not sure it was 10 minutes later when I got a response. I could tell we would get along great right away. She has great communication and makes you feel totally comfortable! Even my fiancé who does not prefer to be around others often said she was great!
