✨ Sarah is a natural teacher, she offers really clear advice and guidance, and has a wealth of knowledge for fitting the pattern to your unique shape. I'd already learnt some basic patterns but got frustrated with the fit, so now I'm learning the essentials from Sarah on how to adjust dress and trouser sewing patterns to my body - which is brilliant for body confidence and advancing my sewing skills. ✨Sarah's teaching style is patient, practical and best of all, she's loads of fun to spend time with too! You couldn't ask for a better teacher as she really helps build up your confidence ✨I've now spent a fantastic 3 hour session of one to one sewing, I just recently joined the group sewing retreat at Jordan's Mill - which was a gorgeous day of sewing in a wonderful location, with cake and lunch thrown in. Plus I'm now a regular at the Friday morning Fay's Rowing Club sewing community mornings. ✨I feel like my skills and confidence continue to grow with Sarah's encouragement and I'm thoroughly enjoying making my own clothes! I had a brilliant private lesson with Sarah that has really motivated me to focus on my dream!! Sarah was great, really personable and open to anything I wanted to learn about. We went completely back to basics and focused on me getting to know my machine, this was so helpful as I have been scared to touch anything for a while, thinking about re-threading the bobbin would make my heart pound now I know what I was doing wrong I am much more confident already. I now can't wait to get started on my first project! I will definitely be having more lessons in the future xx More...

I now have great fitting jeans thanks to Sarah’s two-day jeans’ making course. I’ve learnt lots including fitting, top-stitching and sewing a fly opening. Sarah knows a great deal about fitting and sewing jeans ! Lovely comfortable studio too with a separate cutting area so for me, no backache. More...

If you want the most perfectly fitted pair of ginger jeans then I would 100% recommend the SDC Sew Your Own Jeans course. Sarah’s attention to detail when it comes to fitting is amazing.

Q&As

Helping people gain the confidence from me, whether that be from making a bespoke item of clothing that fits them beautifully or from teaching them to start or develop their sewing skills and understand dressmaking and fit to their own shape and style. Empowering people to be themselves and like what they see is a big plus.

The realisation that so many people are struggling to express themselves and their identities and clothing is a huge part of that expression. I wanted to show people how to do that through correctly fitting bespoke made clothing that shows off a persons character and beautiful silhouette. I also found that many people wanting to learn to make their own clothing struggled with similar issues around fit and making dressmaking work for them. Also I wanted more and more people to learn the art of sewing as a means of expression, creativity and empowerment.

I have a huge amount of patience and knowledge to help people to either develop their own style of dressmaking or sewing skills or to create a garment that is unique and bespoke to that person that they feel amazing and confident in their own skin.

Services

Currently this is only available online via Zoom and has work really well since this was introduced in April 2020.

I teach beginners to sew through to those wanting to develop more techniques in pattern drafting and creating their own clothing patterns or using intermediate and advanced patterns etc.

I specialise in dressmaking but can also teach other sewing mediums such as quilting, soft furnishings, embroidery and hand sewing etc.

Online tuition is available in sessions of:

30 mins
1 hr
2 hrs

You are likely to need more than one session and the amount will depend on what you are looking to learn and develop. I will advise you on that when I know the goal you wish to achieve. The sessions are based around your requirements and bespoke to you.

Our Made to Measure service offers a holistic solution for those looking for quality made and uniquely fitting garments to enhance and flatter your individual figure. Whether this be for a special occasion or timeless wardrobe staples, we can cater for all.

Other services include fit and construction of garments from existing sewing patterns.

After initial consultation, timescale for completion will be provided and this can vary depending on the complexity of the design requirements. As a rough guide, please allow 6 to 10 weeks.

Here at Sarah Diane Creative we work with you to create custom-made soft furnishings and homeware for your home. We can work with interior and product designers to bring to life a range of items to suit your requirements for a specific room or throughout your home.

We discuss your colour scheme to collate a selection of suitable fabrics and textiles for you to choose from. We can also create unique textile designs for a truly bespoke range of furnishings.

We are also happy to work with businesses premises where appropriate.

Prices and timescales for completion will depend on complexity or scale.

We all have clothing that no longer works for us. Whether that be fit, style or worn in places. Many of us find that we still love the fabric it is made from or we love the style but major adjustments and alterations are needed to bring it back to life. Here at Sarah Diane Creative, we can utilise your existing wardrobe and fabric supplies to once again become part of your main staple wardrobe collection or for a key event.

Our offering to work with and recycle your existing wardrobe provides a cost effective and environmental benefit in line with a ‘make do and mend’ ethos that stems back generations and has, until recently, been replaced with fast throwaway fashion.

Timescales to allow at least 3-6 weeks for completion depending on complexity.
