I needed a publicity photo taken on relatively short notice. Sandy came to my office, created a set, took the photos and delivered the images to me the next day. She was wonderful to work with and I loved the photos she produced. More...

Q&As

Understanding the relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO is crucial to creating a beautifully exposed image, The heart and eye of the photographer make the difference between a mediocre photograph and a great one. A great photograph allows the viewer to see more than a "picture", but to "feel" and experience the personalities of those being photographed.

Oh, there are many questions asked of a prospective client! There are the basics of when and where the session is to take place, but I ask questions to help the client decide what they may do with the images before they have even been photographed. My focus is on the needs and desires of the client so that I can photograph with the end goal in mind.

Additional questions may include: Is there something about the subject's personality that you'd like to capture? Are there significant relationships between family members that you'd like to highlight? Are you thinking of an individual piece of wall art, or perhaps a collection of images? Is this something that will hang in your home, and if so, where? Would you prefer to have the flexibility of a folio box full of matted images, or would you prefer an album to tell your story? Will you need gift prints? These are just a few of the topics covered.

It's a tossup between "I get to create new portraiture every day," and "Meeting new people is so much fun!" I have been photographing the lives and legacy of family and friends since 1983, and the thrill has never gone away. I enjoy meeting people from many different backgrounds, and something new is learned from each encounter.

I've always dreamed of owning a business, but it wasn't until 2010 that I realized that my passion for photography was an option - that it could be more than a favorite pastime. I attended classes at Harrington School of Design in the years that followed, earning a degree in Digital Photography in 2013. I felt well educated in the art and science of photography. Upon graduation I launched Sandy Reder Photography.

Clients should choose to use my services because I help families preserve moments of their history with my portraiture, and because I focus on the needs of my client from the first phone call to the delivery of their fine art images. My service, print and product selections, dedication and reliability are outstanding.
