Second visit to the Sandy Lodge . But this time forturkey and tinsel. Stayed in room 223 , which was spacious enough for me as a single guest , as it was a double room , which had everything needed for a comfortable stay . The food was of a good standard with a buffet breakfast , so you help yourself to as little or as much as you want . The evening meal was a choice or three starters and two main meals , with one hot pudding or help yourself cold desserts , with a wide selection.The dining manager Christine was friendly and always smiling and having a bit of fun.|A mention to the barmaid Michelle . A very special mention to Jenny the irish barmaid , who was friendly always smiling and always having fun and a laugh with the guests .|The entertainment most nights was good , although Edison Lighthouse were a bit of a letdown . Stayed at this hotel with Brent Coaches Holidays.||In good position walking distance to the town and beach.||Very friendly staff throughout and even the owners spoke to us individually. .... it is a family run Hotel.||The food was very good with a buffet breakfast and service in the evening a three course meal which was very plentiful and quickly done. The desserts were excellent with loads of choices.... help yourselves.||There was entertainment each night and a 2 for 1 bar til 9pm||I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. More...

Great meal and service st a recent large dinner at the Sandy Lodge. Treated totally and the fish and seafood was absolutely delicious. Soup and dessert not bad either. Our driver was the owner Adrian. He kept us entertained on the whole journey. Providing hot drinks when we stopped. The hotel was first class with excellent food. I don't stay here as I live around the corner but various groups I am a member of do use here to dine as there is private dining available and the food is good, the staff cheerful and helpful and not too expensive. Had a lovely fishcake starter with some nice accompaniments, a good piece of beef with Yorkshire, roasties and veg and nice profiteroles for sweet. Also a good selection of cheeses on the cheese board to go with the coffee. If you ever need a corporate meal, this is a good place to start your search. More...

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel. It has lovely friendly staff. The food is lovely. We had BBEM. The breakfast set you up for the day. There was always a choice 3 starters and main courses. The desert table was to die for. The evening entertainment was good. It's a pleasant walk down the road to Newquay. This hotel was initially booked for 1 night as a central place to head out on day trips to other Cornwall locations for sightseeing. ||After the day out, it was decided more time was needed to see the various attractions, so asked if additional 2 nights could be booked, and after an hour we were told that there would be no problem, so the additional accommodation was paid for.||The hotel is conveniently located on the cliff top overlooking the bay, where surfing competitions are held, and a short walk takes you to the main street where multiple eating places are available with a full range of cuisine.||The hotel's amenities are about a 3.5 star rating, but a lift is available for the older and immobile guests. The mattress was somewhat uncomfortable, and the shower was tiny and the shower door was awkward when entering and leaving the shower cubicle.||The toilet was leaking when flushed from the pipe entering the bowl, and the inside door lock was difficult to turn to lock the door at night, although it could be locked by using the key from the outside!||The Breakfast had a variety of hot and cold food, that included cereals, toast (do it yourself), fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, and hot food, bacon, eggs (scrambled and fried), tomatoes, baked beans, sausage, and fried bread.||Coffee and tea also supplied along with cold fruit juice.||The hotel has a small but well equipped gym, and a small swimming pool under cover.||The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and the advice they gave us was invaluable.||The lounge was used most nights for entertainment and the small but friendly bar was a pleasure to relax in. The WiFi is only available in the lounge or bar areas.||Onsite parking was available, on a first come first served basis, and a bit tight, vehicle registration has to be supplied to reception.||This hotel was selected as a central jumping off place to visit the rest of the glorious Cornwall attractions. We just got back from a Majestic coach trip to this hotel, which usually means a dreadful Britannia hotel, so we were expecting to be treated like second class citizens, but it was amazing. Such friendly and helpful staff, and so kind to the older folk on the trip. The restaurant was waitress service, with allocated seating, (normally with Majestic you are herded into a side room, and have to fight for your food). And the choice puddings! incredible! Good evening entertainment, and the worlds friendliest barmaid. Yes, the rooms are a bit basic, but I will definitely be going back next year, and taking my parents with me. ALL the staff were great! Lots, the staff were friendly and lovely nothing was a problem. They would.clean and change your towels every day. Our net curtain was ripped when we first arrived and they changed it to a new one and we didnt even realise at first. The curtain were nice and blacked out the shower had lovely warm running water. Was nice to be able.to lay out in the courtyard in the sunshine. Food was nice nothing special but still nice food to eat and at 12pd for a 3 course meal it's a bargain! ... breakfast is lovely, love the gift shop shannon and jenny at the bar were just amazing!! Thwy were so friendly and down to earth people, generally the hotel is lovely but it does need abit of TLC you can see that it needs some money spent on it, close to town with just a 5 minute walk which was really.handy! I would definitely stay there again and great value.for money!!. More...

My 8 year old daughter and I just spent a fantastic week at this hotel. Every single member of staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They also helped in entertaining my daughter and could not have been kinder to her. The food and service was excellent, they catered with no problems for vegetarians. The bar staff were friendly and super kind. They even let my daughter push the button for the bingo machine. The hotel is in a great location, with parking, definitely a bonus with a busy town and time of year. Within walking distance to town, zoo, beach etc. More...

This is a family run. Hotel Kathy and Peter,everything is well organised,it's an older style hotel with lots of doors a bit like a maze but it does not take long to find your rooms as the corridors are well signed. As are the fire doors etc ,which is something that I like.I found my room and straight away I noticed the towels plenty of them and they were lovely and soft,also the water was always hot no matter what time of the day.If anyone has an allergy this is the Hotel to pick as they all work together and it makes your holiday as you don't have to worry ,the all play there part whether it's the chef,restaurant manager or waitress.Contact the hotel in advance,and they introduced me to the Chef Rachel on arrival.I found that all the staff were very friendly,and helpful.Breaffast is self service which all the holiday makers were happy with ,also you could have as much as you like or as little as you want.The entertainment while I was there was excellent ,see trip advisor for the Sandy Lodge Entertainment on a further review.
