Best gym I have experienced! It's been really intimidating but that's more of a personal issue every coach is so helpful and so motivating. I've never been a fan of classes but seriously best decision i made. And everyone that goes here is also so friendly and just makes you  feel so welcome! I would spend 2 hrs at my prior gym and I get a better work out here in one hour! I'm slowly noticing results and getting stronger! More...

The best decision I’ve ever made!!Great coaches, great place. There’s open gym times multiple days a week. I started the first week of February and I am already seeing some awesome results in terms of strength, mobility and my overall fitness.I love this place!

I am having quite a bit of fun staying here in San Diego and visiting gyms with ClassPass. I decided to try this Cross Fit gym and I liked it. First off, they play cool music which could be heavy metal, Metallica, or some stupid EDM. Jay was really friendly and welcoming. Jenny led the workout and was very helpful. We started with the 3 position snatch, which I hadn't done before. But it was beginning weightlifting. It's similar to deadlifts. I kept adding weights to challenge myself. Then we did a series with "push jerks," "burpees over the bar," and "toes-to-bar." We started with 21 reps then 15 reps and then 9 reps. I altered it and did as much as I could for the first time(which means somewhat fewer reps). Jenny was helpful and watching. Toes-to-bar involved the pull-up bars. It was an invigorating exercise. The gym was comfortable and in Pacific Beach. This gym has been open since 2010 and moved to this location in July. I like these workouts. More...

I can't say enough great things about the crew at SDA. I started here back in 2011 and have been working out here 4 days a week since. Before I joined, I was 40 pounds heavier, the extent of my weightlifting included only 12oz beer curls, and pull ups were as real to me as Santa Claus. Today I am 44 years old and in the best shape of my life.The owners and trainers do an amazing job of creating a supportive community...a community that drives me to be better and was an integral part of me living a healthier lifestyle. I was back again for 2 weeks vacation at Mission Bay.  I could not miss CF, so I hit up PB CrossFit or San Diego Athletics, whatever they are calling it today it is great.  Bryan and Jenny  the owners are so welcoming and even remembered me from my previous visits.  I felt right at home.  Also had Matthew several days as a coach and he is also excellent.  Our hour was filled completely.  Certainly got more than my monies worth and no doubt the members of this box get that too, no matter what the fee is.  I've dropped in many boxes during the last 6 years and I have to say this is one of the best.  Thanks so much coaches for making me feel welcome and at home while I'm vacationing in your great city.  I look forward to seeing you all next year. they recently changed their name to San Diego Athletics. Same owners, same place. First time I tried crossfit was forced on me through our companies retreat day, I say forced because My knowledge of crossfit is for the heavy weight champions only and I am not the most fit person. . so needless to say I was not excited to undergo such suffering at such an early time of day .. However, my mindset completely changed after the session we had...To my loss, I got there a little late, so I missed a couple of things, however the time I spent there was extremely beneficial, I didn't realize how much out of shape I was until 2  hours after the session where I couldn't walk I was so sore.. Brian and Anders, went above and beyond in creating a workshop with a variety  of exercises that was not aimed for the fit, it was aimed for the newbies, the out of shape, and the over achievers of our company. they made us work, but made it doable. they made the exercises extremely fun. They were conscience that we all had different lifestyles (health wise &  exercise routines) so they catered to each of our different needs. Helped us with our postures and made sure we didn't over work ourselves, but enough where we were sore for the next week or so :) I enjoyed their techniques and tricks, Learned alot and enjoyed it to the fullest! truly appreciate them taking time to do the workshop for us..Recommend them and their Gym to everyone that is hesitant to try new things :) More...

If you've ever forgotten how far out of shape you've gotten, these guys will give you a quick reminder and a much needed jump start to your fitness routine.  At a recent business workshop, we started our morning with a group session at SD Athletics (formerly Crossfit PB) which consisted of Anders and Bryan educating us on proper posture, assessing our strength and teaching us tools to help us relieve sore muscles from desk/office work.  Afterwards they led us through a workout that was both exhilarating and challenging and left me feeling like I've let myself go for far too long.  It was refreshing to see how much attention was paid to proper form and education in each movement versus just throwing the newbies into a pain game.  I appreciated the extra time they spent putting together a session for our group who had very mixed experience with fitness and also the enthusiasm and encouragement they carried throughout it.  I highly recommend this place to build up your body and your mind. This place and the people here are straight up badass. I first started coming here about four months ago, and was admittedly a bit hesitant when I first got started. Anders (one of the owners) is huge ball of excitement, and you can tell that he genuinely wants everyone who steps in the door to succeed. I loved how straight off the bat he and all the other trainers at CFPB were very clear that technique was paramount, and weight came after. I opted for the extra little bit of money to do the 1-1 training sessions with Lindsay, and it was both brutal and awesome. My new routine for the last several months has been Crossfit at 6:30a five days a week, then immediately followed by food & coffee at Turquoise Cafe. It's a great little existence. I simply cannot speak highly enough of this place. You're looking up Crossfit gyms, you're in San Diego, so get off yelp and just go to here. You won't regret it. More...

Our group classes are designed for any level of fitness from beginners to more advanced athletes. We take all the guess work out of getting healthy. The hardest part is showing up, once you are in the door you are guaranteed a great and effective workout, you don't have to think up a plan yourself or wonder if you are doing the right thing. Our coaches will guide you though the entire one hour lesson. If you take part in one of our regular nutrition or fast loss challenges (one is coming up in January) you will get a detailed, personal nutrition plan, daily food log check ins, weekly meetings, progress weigh ins and lectures to teach you how to change your life for good not just for the challenge.

Hard work, no one wants to hear that but it's the truth. It doesn't always have to be miserable though! We have found a way to make getting in shape more enjoyable. We never workout alone, we always have others to lean on, cheer on or sometimes just complain with! When it comes to our fat loss challenges or nutrition challenges we incorporate the same group mentality. We keep each other accountable on a daily basis and it helps so much. We do all of these things until it is a normal part of our routine, until, without realizing it our lives feel strange without it. Then before you know it exercising and eating healthy is just a part of who you are. Then you look in the mirror and realize you finally have the body you always wanted but that doesn't compare to the confidence you now have, the things you have learned about your body, mind and spirit, or the amazing friendships you have made at the gym along the way.

I love changing people's lives. I love helping them see their potential, helping them push through the things that are hard or carrying them through when it's more than just the weights that are heavy.

My clients, have always inspired me. Sometimes they come in with very specific goals and sometimes not but they are always surprised with the things they achieve at our gym. All I ask is a good solid effort, if you put that in you will make progress. It's a guarantee!

Clients should choose San Diego Athletics because we simply care the most. No other gym is going to have your back like we will. When you walk into another gym all they see are dollar signs. We see a person, who came here because they want help, because they don't want to do it alone, because they are looking for support and all we want are to be the people who lift you higher!

Services

Group class for all fitness levels focusing on lifting weights and increasing intensity.

Semi-private personal training for moms or expectant mothers with individualized workouts that focus on fat loss, building core strength and claiming your body back after the baby.

Ages 8 and up, this class helps kids learn how to exercise, play with others, build leadership, confidence and sportsmanship through exercise. We focus on building strength to prevent injuries and keep up in sports and conditioning to stay in shape and ahead of their competition.

Strong is a program for those who want something to follow but don't want to do CrossFit. It is a three day a week plan with full body workouts designed to build necessary strength and burn body fat without losing the community of CrossFit.
