I am part of a 4-week level 1 (basic) salsa class, I'm on week 3.I was nervous about doing this class, it was very out of my comfort zone and like nothing I've ever tried before. But, for $45 I figured at minimum I'd get some laughs. This has been so much fun! The other students here are great, and Ale has been wonderful. She explains things in a way that makes sense, will help you when they don't make sense! No one here has been judgmental, and truthfully, everyone is so focused on their own dancing that I don't think anyone is paying attention to anyone but them self!I thought I'd need a partner, but everyone switches partners so no one is dancing by themselves. I also thought I'd hate that, because I joined this class with someone else, but it's really great to be able to dance with other levels of experience (because my partner is just as new to this as me).If you're on the fence about trying something new - I get it. But jump into this class, it is absolutely worth it ! More...

No partner needed, no experience needed. The atmosphere is fun and you will learn the steps.

Classes are fun and I have learned a lot about my technique. Plus the instructors are out at events weekly, so there is always a chance to practice your moves in a dance setting.
Lots of fun! Great instructors!

The salsa class today was great. I had an awesome time! The teachers (Karen Rose and Ntumba) were very easy to understand, patient, and taught a very practical lesson.
Great people, dancing to great music. All skill levels.

Pure joy of movement at the World food & music Festival with live music from PLC. Still smiling
Such a great location and setting for movement of all kinds.
Spreading the love of music and dance. Thank you for taking on the mission.
Had a wonderful time experiencing a bit of the salsa world! Lots of wonderful dancing! Such a great atmosphere and great people!
I'm only one class in (out of 6) with Karen but I love the salsa dance class! I already know how to dance; however, going back to basics has been super fun. Very happy I decided to take this class with her. Highly recommend Karen. More...
Salsa 1 with Karen was so much fun! I was surprised that after only six weeks I feel like I could give it a try on the dance floor. It made me want to learn even more! Karen is very kind and patient and makes everyone feel comfortable while they learn. Thank you, Karen, for such a good experience! More...
I like the variety of dance classes and levels of instruction. I only wish the organisation would offer more beginner/intermediate classes. I also wish there were more formal dance events (such as the forthcoming Masquerade Ball). Otherwise, I'm proud to be a part of the local salsa dance community, thanks to Salsa Des Moines! More...
Best organization in Iowa to take lessons with and find local events for salsa, bachata and other dance styles.
