I have been meaning to write this review for a while.... Tay did my hair and holy sh*t she did amazing. She lightened and fixed a bad dye job and a few months later my hair is still lookin killer! !! No brassiness no orange it's amazing! I will refinery be going back to her. Lexi was awesome. She got me in for highlights and a cut within an hour of me calling - and did amazing work. The salon had some really rambunctious kids that didn't make for the most relaxing environment but she was super apologetic and the situation was honestly out of her control but the fact that she acknowledged it without dwelling on it definitely helped. OK, for transparency, my stylist is Christine Sale and she is my niece. However, she is a great stylist. Her color work is second to none; I guess it is her specialty. Her cuts are fast, neat and accurate. She always makes sure she is getting what you want and will ask questions and advise when applicable. She never lets you leave unless you are 100% happy with your look. She is personable and fun too- but mainly she gets the job done and beautifully. Highly recommend. More...

Really satisfied with the haircut, color, and styling that Taylor did for me.   I appreciate that she took her time with my hair instead of rushing through it. My hair came out great! I came in as a walk in customer and was greeted immediately.  Since I was a walk in I did need to wait a while but that is completely understandable. The vibe of the whole place is super chill and friendly. The salon is very clean and I love that they listen to a wide variety of music. Everyone who was getting their hair done seemed to be enjoying their experience as well and from the sounds of it they have a lot of repeat customers. Katie and Curtis are amazing always very responsive on the yelp messages . I can always book my appointment without even having to call in. I had a slight problem with my hair and Katie made sure that I was completely happy with my hair. They are amazing business owners and I will always keep coming back! I called to see about getting a full highlight and asked who was available because my previous stylist hadn't gotten back to me. My call was returned promptly and I had an appointment set with Courtney. On the day of my appointment I was told she had another client and asked if it was ok for Taylor to do my hair. I was nervous at first, (I'm always nervous when I go to a new stylist), but Taylor was amazing. She was so sweet, personable, and listened to me when I explained how I wanted my hair to look. She took her time and made sure to do an amazing job. Taylor used great products that left my hair feeling soft and healthy. I was very pleased with the highlights, cut and how she styled it. Overall I'm very happy with my hair and will definitely be booking with Taylor in the future. More...

I watched many people come and go while Monica was doing my hair, and they all left looking and feeling fabulous. As usual I was nervous about getting my hair done but Monica executed everything perfectly and even told me to come back or call if I had ANY issues. After reading the Yelp reviews on the stylist Monica who works at Salon Thrive I decided to book my Tape-in extension service with her and I'm so glad I did. I left a review on my service with her on her yelp page and this review will be in regards to the Salon as a whole! I absolutely love Salon Thrive! I have been to a few salons in the SD area and this one by far is the best one I've been to. When I walked in (both times) i was greeted with a smile as soon as I stepped foot inside. The stylists there are so friendly and welcoming. Salon Thrive is a smaller salon but don't let that deter you in any way. The vibe in there is awesome which is something that's important to me. Everyone was laid back, friendly but still professional. Its not a high strung, stressed out vibe where everyone looks miserable. I love salon Thrive and will continue to book with Monica (highly recommend). One thing I noticed was that almost every stylist had someone in their chair and it was on Thursday after non, so I'm sure whichever stylist you have, they will deliver the results the client asks for. So it's taken me MONTHS to write my review but I got married and pregnant so what can you expect. I had been looking for a new stylist and after visiting a few local salons I was losing so much hope. I was a bleach blonde with plenty of grow out and it was bad. I message salon Thrive and the owner set up for me to speak with Alyssa. Oh man am I sure glad he did. She's heaven sent! She changed my grown out blonde to a beautiful red pixie that I just awed over for days. She did exactly what I asked with photos shown and made me feel so comfortable being there. Always offering me drinks, checking on me in the dryer. She was amazing. Let me just tell you, this is the spot you want to go to for all your hair needs. My appointment was super last minute and I only had a very limited schedule to work with, but despite the obstacles Curtis, set my appointment with Mrs. Garen on the fly and WOW did she deliver. She delivered top quality cutting and styling while maintaining light, friendly, and entertaining conversation. Providing a top quality experience for an absolutely affordable price. On the Salons behalf, I was immediately greeted with a friendly hello the moment I walked in the door, and the stylist (didn't catch her name.. SORRY) was in the middle of a cut and still broke away to make sure my stylist knew I had arrived. I was able to get a same day appointment Thanksgiving weekend. They were very quick to respond using the messaging feature here on yelp. I got a hair cut from Alyssa. She was so nice and so great at what she does! It seems like a family run place. I REALLY needed a hair cut as a new mom who has not been making time for herself (it had been a year since my last cut!). I felt so great afterwards & have gotten compliments even without styling it. Went in for a trim for the first time on Tuesday. They were able to get me a same day appointment and at the time that I wanted. Alyssa did an amazing job and brought life back to my hair. She was really sweet and fun to talk to. She listened to me and did exactly what I wanted and offered helpful suggestions. She also helped me come up with a plan to repair my damaged, dry hair. For the first 26 years of my life, I jumped from hairdresser to hairdresser or just wouldn't bother with hair salons at all. I'm brunette so I thought I could get away with box dyes, and I felt like salons charged way too much for the styles I was getting. Fast forward to 2019 and I have been seeing the same hair stylist for TWO YEARS STRAIGHT! Thankfully I don't have to, but I would drive hours for Christine Sale to work her magic on my hair! I remember the first time she dyed my hair, she took care to explain her process and what she was doing while she was doing it. She really knows what she's talking about and we have had so much fun experimenting with my hair. She'll hook you up with great products and will make you feel so relaxed. I love my time here. My hair always takes a bit to fancy up because I have a LOT of hair and it loves turning shades gold/red (and if you're a blonde, you know how annoying that can be). BUT, getting to chill here while the fantastic Christine (Sale) while all the magic processes is just fine by me! From the first appointment with her, she took my concerns of an overly red root back to a magical blonde and since then, has dealt with my back and forth on shades of brown and blonde with grace and such a happy spirit! Even when we had to "re-do" a process a few times (it was that golden), and always offered a happy smile along with her killer stylist skills. Christine also helps me so much with recommending specific products (and not just those they sell in the salon) that will help your hair the most; she's even picked some up for me from some of the hair shops for stylists only because she is an absolute gem. She taught me how to use a curling wand again because I'm horrible at being a girl sometimes, recommended a brand as well and even helped me keep an eye out for when they went on sale recently. Does this all sound too good to be true? Well it isn't. She's great and everyone in the salon seems to emit a similar attitude so obviously this is a great place all around. Christine is also great about texting YOU to check in on your hair and also set up appointments if it's been a while and you're like me, and always forget to text her first. She's also super great at letting all of her clients know when she's available (or not), which makes planning that much easier for everyone. AND, she helps me budget for hair projects by giving me estimates when I ask, but they are SO much more manageable than the $270 I spent elsewhere that gave me that bad red root that Christine fixed; I don't think I've spent over $110 (not including top), but if your a golden rooted blonde who pulls the reds like me, you know this price is so reasonable for the color, tone, cuts, and conditions. It's actually usually even less than that $ amount, but remember, Hair CAN be a project, so if you need help planning, Christine will give you a good idea on price beforehand. I was recommended to her by a friend and so glad I've went. Some of the pics are various stages and colors we've gone through. But for real, see Christine, she is the best and I genuinely enjoy my time with her in the shop! Courtney is amazing! I have bounced around from stylist to stylist mainly because I am one and can do my hair myself. But, Courtney has it all. She is fantastic at hair and is a great conversationalist which is a big part of going to a salon in my opinion. The color, cut, and styling she did on me was perfect. As far as prices, they seemed competitive to me. Prices in the industry have gone up all over San Diego. The way I see it, prices of everything else around us goes up why shouldn't these hard working independent contractors get a raise? More...

This is the best salon in San Diego. I live in Powys and will drive down gladly! The whole team is so friendly and tries to work with your schedule. And they do wonders with hair!
