I have been coming to David for haircuts for almost ten years, and he never fails to disappoint. Despite my moving out of the city a few years ago, I still make a point to book an appointment with him when I'm in town because his work is that good. I have always been over the moon with my haircuts and color because he takes the time to understand what I want and knows how to execute it in a skilled and stylish way. I was so happy when he became the owner as he brings so much experience and skill to the table--plus he's a nice person and a joy to chat with. Though I'm less familiar with the work of the other stylists, I see happy clients in their chairs all the time. Dumbo - with David - is my go-to salon when I am in NYC! Not only the salon is cozy and beautiful, but David has a real sense of his clients, and wants them to feel fabulous, and truly themselves. My hair is specifically difficult as I curl randomly, and when I met him 12 years ago, I was desperately looking for a good stylist as I had no time to go see mine in SF before leaving for a wedding. And our hair love story began... I really appreciated also that even if David thought he would probably never see me again, he took the same care of me as he did of his regular clients. David does an amazing job on both of my kids.  He makes sure that our kids look just as stylish as us adults -- it's not easy to get those perfectly straight blunt bangs when your client is squirming around, eating potato chips and watching Octonauts on her iPad. David is a professional and great w the littles!  And the desk staff are always welcoming and accommodating.  All around an A+ operation and highly recommend! I wish I could write two separate reviews for one amazing experience and one AWFUL experience but overall this place deserves a killer review. Rebeka is beyond talented. After several bad colors at another salon, I had kind of given up as my old colorist made it seem like my stubborn gray hair was the issue. I went in just for a blow out and I immediately knew that this woman was talented and could fix it so I scheduled an appointment. I decided to start the summer with a color, cut and keratin. It is absolute perfection. I never imagined my color could look this amazing again. I now feel a confidence that I can walk in and say, "whatever you think!" I totally trust Rebeka!David the new owner is service and beyond. Love him!Lucie is an absolute nasty person. Do not go to her. Doesn't listen and then blames the customer. Deserves worse review than this but I don't want to insult the other amazingly kind and talented professionals that work there because of one stuck-up, ugly person who doesn't know what the hell she is doing. SDQ is now Salon Dumbo -- call it whatever you want but I got the best hair cut with Brenna this afternoon! The have a Monday "express cut" special which is $35 for an excellent cut. Brenna was able to finish my sentences because she so knew exactly what needed to be done to update my overgrown long bob (at this point just medium length hair ;)) to exactly the length and texture I needed for a light, layered look that won't frizz into a triangle.
